Burdine use to be a head coach in youth league at Pulaski i dont think he has more than 5 years of hs experience total...also he has been DC for three years...has given up a lot of points... thats good for us at North who lose a lot of offense

Why would a 5A Football school hire an inexperienced coach that isn't even from around here.

Where did Frazier coach at last season? We are talking about the former Middlesboro head coach aren't we?

County schools need in school weightlifting more than Ind. schools.
Plus it allows kids to participate in other spring sports.

I think he teaches history as well.

No school system will ever have stability because of what they have done that last couple of years. There have been several coaches fired because of 1 or 2 bad years and if you think coaches don't see that, it is going to be get them before they get me attitude by the coaches. It is insane how these admin are now. Hell they fired TOM LARKEY BECAUSE OF 1 BAD SEASON!

How did he do as DC at SW?
I know how he did last year at SL.

We are talking about a football coaching vacancy...not a weightlifting class!!!

A quality coach will ask what is your school going to do for the program. Sure a young guy is going to walk in with stars in his eyes and think he can solve all woes, but he can't. Weightlifting class and assts are two things coaches ask for to be successful. Otherwise you are asking a man who probably has a better situation to leave that for your school with no benefits.

Oh you pay 10 k well his pays 6 k and he has help and a chance to prepare his team to win. 4k means nothing if your school isn't going to commit.

Not to mention these days coaches are a little gun shy.

Like somebody else said on here the lack of youth league is concerning. I worked with the guys who did ms last year and they seemed to have things headed in the right direction.

That is why the administration needs to hire a local coach with SL ties. A local boy already knows the answer is "no" when it comes to a weight lifting class.
Key to happiness ... Lower your expectations
I agree the lack of a youth league is by far more alarming than a weight class..

Excellent points. If the principal is not willing to give a guy with head coaching experience some things that he ask for you will never get him. Head coaches will ask for things to see how committed they truly are I don't care what anyone says in school weight lifting would be a must. And he has to be able to bring in some of his coaches with jobs in the building!!!

Then you all need to get used to losing!!!!

The coach that just left isnt going to be a huge loss for SL. In fact I would guess SL will be better off with who ever they decide to be the next head coach local or not.
The last coach with a winning record at SL was local.. Jep Irwin
Yea and Jep left because there was no commitment to football! He is a heck of a football coach, I think he was 1 game from a state title a couple of years ago. Now he is in football country where they give a coach what he needs to win.

This kind of shows coaches will be looking for next good thing. No commitment will mean a coach until he gets a better gig.

Im not talking about why he left..im saying a local will work harder while he's here.
Well the way these admin who are not held to crap keep firing coaches for 1 or 2 bad season like it is the SEC and they are at least walking away with 7 or 8 million $ you can expect coaches to always be looking. If at your work your boss fired a guy because he had a bad week would you be looking to get the crap out of there before you where fired and a wife and kids couldn't eat. That is what is happening all over the state. I would treat coaching just like I treat my job, if a better offer comes along I and many of you would jump all over it. I think we sometimes forget that coaches are human and they have families that have to listen to a bunch of idiots rip their daddy. Admin have no commitment to coaches most of them have no guts to stand up to parents so they just fire the coach. Admin are always looking to move up to the board and make more money and have easier job.
Guys if you get the right coach in there it doesn't matter if he is from Mars he will work just as hard as a local guy would because his name is on the program. So you are telling me you leave your job in London and move to Lexington you are not going to work just as hard because you are not from Lexington? Horse Hockey!!!
Go get you the best coach you can, and if they hire the right guy he will bust his A$%!!! I do know that several years ago a College offensive coordinator applied for that job and they never even called him back. He is now coaching big time D1. They never even called him back. What does that tell you.
Who keeps getting fired? I dont know of any SL football coaches ever being fired??
Well then you are making mine and others arguments WHY ARE THEY LEAVING? I am talking about all over the state, look at the list of coaches that where fired this year, again you would think these guys have million dollar budgets and can recruit. Public school football will always go through ups and downs. You might have a great SR class and an awful JR class behind them. Now mommy and daddy think Jr's class and Jr are all going to play at Alabama where in all honesty they cant even play at Union College
If you have coaches that keep leaving you have a problem!!! So what is that problem?
Its not a 6th period weight lifting course they dont offer making them leave..
