I hope wherever he goes they go to state first or second year to rub it in Harlans face. Larkey was a great coach, and crow will be served to Harlan for letting him go.

I agree with you whole heartedly, but that statement sounds a little strange coming out of Letcher Central...

As far as who the next coach is concerned, still haven't been hearing anything but rumors. One would think someone in this admin would have known to go about this the right way but it appears they didn't. Not so sure this was about hiring someone's buddy either from what I've heard today.

Well no he is not going to run up in a kids face and say showed you! but if you think a coach that got fired wouldn't love to show someone that fired them up you have another thing coming!!!! I think that you all that wanted the man fired are going to get just what you deserve and those they didn't I feel sorry for and I especially feel sorry for the kids who will not have the nearly the success they would have had Tom Larky been their coach!!!

I hope Larkey has all the success in the world because he deserves it. Why would you want to "rub it in Harlan's face"?? The kids and most of the parents/fans are devastated that he's gone.
This was a one woman decision, IMO. And more than likely politically motivated.

Guys like Larkey deserve better.
01-28-2015, 04:05 PM
coach larkey did deserve better and from talking to him and listening to him he isnt the kind of person who would throw someone under the bus or rub anything in someones face. our principal and a few select others really blew it
worse thing is still how it was done, a 2 sentence email. he did deserve better than that, but apparently she is gutless and proved she isnt a leader by doing this this way.

One being he's not a vengeful, spiteful person such as yourself. Im gonna get what I deserve? Thats awesome cause I deserve alot in this world. Thanks. Gives me something to look forward too

A guy in the store mentioned his name today. I know he is married and has kids and lives in Lexington and is from here. I just can't see why he would want to come back here. In all honesty we have nothing here like other places and once you get here your stuck unless your prepared to drive a few hours. I was raised here so I'm used to it but he has lived in the city so long and thee are so many more opportunities to do things there and his kids have more opportunity with things and friends. I love this place but can't see why people come back here to work and live.

My comment was directed to the powers that be! Not the parents or the team. It happen to us when they fired Raymond and we was winning! Can't imagine what you guys are going through. Politics are a pain in high school sports. She needs to be called out pubically.

The "powers that be" won't be hurt by Larkey's future success. They don't care about anything but themselves.

That's a different situation that coaches shouldn't even waste there time with. But in 4 years you should have turned the thinking around and in 8 be winning district titles. If not it's on you. Nobody else.
And you would love me as a boss. I'd get the job done. Only problem is I'd never hire you.
I would like to hire you as the head man immediately.when can you start?

Any new news on the coaching hire? Hope they have something done by mid month. Have heard alot of rumors but nothing confirmed.

Names that are being rumored ?
02-01-2015, 11:38 PM
Still amazing to a lot of people around the area the way this was handled, especially considering who it was. Had it been about anyone else, I don't think people would have been as SHOCKED and SURPRISED as they were considering it was Coach Larkey. He is just such an exemplary individual & everyone liked him & knew without a doubt he was 'Mr Football Coach', in Southeastern, Kentucky. I am still having trouble digesting the fact he is not coaching at Harlan. Apparently they are still trying to find someone to fill his shoes. It is harder than someone first thought I guess to find a replacement, no one can come close is the rumor floating around other places. I don't know if they can even come up with a good 2nd to come in there, after the way he was treated, any coach worth their salt will be leery that the same thing will happen to them, is what I keep hearing. It's sad for the kids, they are the ones that suffer at the hands of people who wouldn't know a football from a softball bat apparently! :HitWall:

Who are some names?

What or who are the names applied or shown interest in the job
02-02-2015, 05:08 AM
The word from Dragonland is that it will come down between Chad Wood and Eddie Creech. I have heard that the players signed a petition and sent it to the principal and Superintendant that they didn't want anyone but Eddie Creech.

02-02-2015, 07:42 AM
I have a bad (well in my case good) feeling that HC isn't going to end up with a hire that anyone wants. Nor will they make a hire that's going to be able to win a lot of ball games.
02-02-2015, 02:16 PM
Eddie Creech??? You gotta be kidding me!
02-02-2015, 03:26 PM
I've heard that Eddie Creech did apply and the job will be his. I would think he would at least owe the players a better explanation of why he left mid-season.
02-02-2015, 04:10 PM
What experience other than coaching with Coach Larkey does Creech have?
02-02-2015, 05:49 PM
Who is Creech? Name sounds familiar. Can someone give us folks outside Harlan County a brief profile of the guy? Background, did he play college ball, does he teach, etc.?

Well, that's partially true. The football players presented Eddie with a petition that had most everyone's signature on it, asking him to apply for the job. Nothing was said about them not playing for someone else.

He did play on the college level I believe, but I don't know where. He is a teacher at HCHS and was a quarter back at Cumberland during his high school years. Had quite a bit of success as QB, and does the QB skills at their camps.
He is a family oriented man and very devoted Christian.

You know, this is a hell of a lot easier said than done. Believe me, I'm working on it, but it's not easy. I have a letter to the state board regarding all these under the table tactics and am waiting on a couple of petitions to be gathered back. Hopefully, a few more names than mine will make a difference. You can't just throw innuendoes out there without being able to prove them and that's difficult to do.
Now if you have any suggestions as to how to get this done, I am ALL ears!
