I saw that game I want to tell you Whitley has A good team, great speed they just had A bad start the second half, that is what happened, I personally think that Whitley will; build on that game and be much better as A result of it. I don't think whitley has met up with the speed of Williamsburg, I can also say Williamsburg has not played aganst any team as fast as Whitley.
#4
The other guys had some big plays tonight. Massey and Wilson accounted for 10 points and Lowery had the big 3 at half which was a momentum changer.
#5
What a year Williamsburg keep it up. :worthy:
#6
Massey changes the whole game, Wilson does to.
#7
Congrats. 17 and 0 and still not ranked in the top 25 on max preps. They must think the schedule is weak. There is teams with 9 loses ranked higher. Wow. This type of scheduling might work who knows. Time will tell. Good luck Burg.

Awesome posting Updates E's Army :thanks:

When Massey and Wilson are in the game at the same it appears we have A different team in the game it is like we are A power team more than A speed. Wilson can't be moved under the goal.

Tonight was an example of what can happen when w'burg starts clicking on all cylinders....they shot well, rebounded well, defended well. Late in the game it was taking whitley sometimes over a minute to get a look at a shot. You beat whitley on the road by 20+ and there will still be those that want to complain about schedule and other crap....fact is....this w'burg team just may be that good. Others that choose not to believe that it's okay.....the burg may change your opinion when they roll into town. Nice job tonight on the road jackets!

The Whitley fans I ran into were super nice people they were disappointed but were very nice, The gym was packed, Both teams played hard, it was just high school basketball at it's very best. the first half was great defense by both teams, I don't know much about BB but, Chase Lowery got the ball just over mid court and hit A hail Mary with no time left. I felt like that was the game changer, Whitley didn't play the same in the second half,,it looked like that shot changed the game totally. I can't describe it but Whitley looked like A different team.

I thought Whitley would put up a little more fight , but I'm not surprised in this final score

Leonards loser you was surprised. Confusednicker:

I and about every one in the gym was surprised.

Whitley and Williamsburg kids are neighbors and cousins and their parents work together. No use hating each other over a basketball game. Good to see civility rule the day. Williamsburg understands no need to crow to loud Whitley may win the next go around. Leave it on the court and respect each other.
#16
Nice win for the Jackets, now on to Frankfort....Whitley has a good bunch and this district tournament is still going to be fun...
#17
Wow!!! Jackets STILL undefeated!! Congratulations on your victory!

Congrats Williamsburg

My takes from the game
1)I think Whitley trying to press and run with Williamsburg was not a wise decision.

2)Williamsburg did a nice job on the offensive glass most of the game.

3)Luke Woods can really shoot the ball.

4)Williamsburgs size coming off the bench was very important in this game.
#20
Nice Win. Now go make a great showing in All A. Good Luck.
#21
Luke woods is really a nice player......he was shooting from the concession stand at times last night. You tell kids not to guard people that far out in a zone but you really have to pick him up early. I agree with comment trying to press and run with w'burg isn't a good idea. Lowrie, s griffith, and shelton just doesn't rattle or make that many mistakes. If they make one they have ability to make up for it on the defensive end and get the ball back. But congrats to coach robinson on game plan.....the 3-2 zone he played really started to limit shot selection in the second half for whitley. It took them to much time to get shots off and when you're down double digts late in 4th qtr you don't need to take over a minute to get a good look at a shot. Thats what really hurt whitley.......no chance to get back in the game late.

We finally see some separation in the 50th. South Laurel and Williamsburg are clearly the favorites to advance to the region. I would be very surprised if these two don't make it. With that said, here are my latest rankings.

1. Clay Co.
2. Williamsburg
3. South Laurel
4. Knox Central
5. Whitley Co.
6. Barbourville
7. Harlan Co.
8. Jackson Co.
9. North Laurel
10. Corbin
11. OBI
12. Bell Co.
13. Pineville
14. Lynn Camp
15. Harlan
16. Middlesboro
17. Red Bird

Like your rankings. OBI seems to be getting better. Beat North Laurel, played Clay Close and beat McCreary Central by 11 at Central after losing to them by 18 early in season on neutral floor. Good Luck to All as the Dist. Tourney is right around the bend.:Clap:
#24
I agree, OBI is a very dangerous team. Clay Co. is the obvious favorite, but there are probably 10 teams in this region that could knock them off. OBI is one of those teams. The district tournaments should be very entertaining.

I can guarantee you it is not our type scheduling, Is is their type rating. We have beaten 5 teams that are ranked above us. I hope we never start scheduling to make our polls look good. I hope that they play just like this every year, We Jacket fans are having A ball while other teams and fans are so concerned with where they are ranked that we just keep eating their lunch

while they keep reading the polls. JUST LIKE FOOTBALL

What a great atmosphere for a high school basketball game. Both crowds (red and orange) being supportive of their teams, loud and positive!!!

Both teams played clean and showed great sportsmanship. A nice example of this Whitley fouled and the Williamsburg player when to the floor, the first person there to help him up was a Whitley player. Second Example, there was a loose ball and several players went to the ground and Williamsburg players were helping up the Whitley players. Perfect Game in that respect. Kudos to both teams and both coaches. This is a game where there is a lot of emotion and nobody let it get in the way of playing the right way.

Williamsburg is a dang good basketball team. Three by Lowrie was a game changer. The defense by Williamsburg was outstanding, they were fast and did a good job especially in the second half. When they shoot like they did in the second half it will be hard for anyone to beat them.

Whitley caused several turnovers in the first half but failed to capitalize on them. Then the Colonels picked a really bad time to go ice cold from the field, they also settled for some long range jumpers when they could have attacked the basket.

Great atmosphere worthy of a district tourney game or a great rival game.

Trying to figure out the 50th is like trying to figure out the words that Roscoe writes down. Believe me it anit neat. I will say this the Burg is the Best, dont even try to question that. Will give Whitley a break and say it was a bad night but it was at home. Corbin and South are in trouble i believe, they are just to up and down to get out of this district. Roscoe hasnt talked about it, to busy getting our new piece ready for Whitley.

Gotta love Corbin's and Harlan County's feeder programs.

Wilson hasn't played organized basketball since the 8th grade. Taking three years off is a feeder program? If you knew Massey's life story and how he ended up at Williamsburg, you would eat these words. He has amazing character to overcome what he has been through.

When Wburg hit a ridiculous three right before half time, it was like lights out. Whitley was looking to take the lead into halftime and then that shot happens. Whitley was never the same in the second half.
