Williamsburg 2015

footballfever Wrote:I hope but 64 shouldn't be on here doing a little Internet recruiting. There is a few players that could come out to Whitley and get us over the top✌️

Why is the giant at Whitley County High School not being persuaded to play football? Do you know who I'm talking about? He would definitely help put them over the top:biggrin:

Whitley County shouldn't play Williamsburg and Williamsburg should give their players back

sounds like a fair deal to me.

footballfever Wrote:Leslie and Somerset a very good pick ups. Those 2 teams are very similar to Hazard and Pikeville especially offensively. Those 2 teams could easily be Williamsburgs 2nd and 3rd round playoff games if all falls into place.

that will for sure prepare them for a playoff run.

Alec Poore or Alex Patterson, Poore is a good looking Soph to be and Patterson is probably the fastest kid on the team...

is Whitley getting any players back? I'm tired of these other teams signing them to contracts :biglmao:

Patterson has been at Wburg since at least the 6th grade, have no idea where he lives...Poore lives in town across the street from David Estes, what! Why is Abby Estes playing basketball at Whitley....

Does the Ysidro kid still live in the Williamsburg district?
#45
Did the Lennon kid live in the Corbin district and go to Corbin through middle school?

How does a w'burg football thread turn into almost an entire page about whitley and corbin of all things? W'burg will be in the mix though but the line is where they will suffer the most. You can't replace the 4 they had in one year (helton, wilson, lamoree, caddell). You lose an entire line like that (two of which was all state) and the entire defensive front and your work is cut out for you. W'burg will definitely be in the mix but with the new district alignments it will be a tougher road plus you lose the skill players that w'burg had this year and it will be interesting to see where they are come august.
#55
The line and QB are big questions....Dunn, Browing, Hughlett and Shackleford can be a decent line, not big kids but they can get it done...QB is the big problem IMO, Poore or Patterson will have to step up and Coach Herron has proven he can develope QBs...
#56
I worry about the line the most......silcox has proven he can run hard and is faster than i realized. The qb spot will take care of itself......herron will definitely develop that without question. But no matter how good the qb is or how fast the rb is......if the line cant keep them out of the backfield then its a mute point. Dunn has 2 years of experience under his belt but there has to be some kids step up and really play bigger than they are next year. Primarily making reference to games once you get deep into playoffs. W'burg had a luxury last two years......there were times griffith had 5 or 6 seconds to look around and then decide what to do. That luxury is gone now but it will be interesting to see how w'burg will do next year. Herron will prove his worth once again and they will be in the mix no doubt. More talent is coming but he will make statement with the players he has.

3 dumb asses made an issue of kids playing in district they live. This was a Williamsburg thread hijacked by 3 idiots. Do we want kids to play where they live or not?

My question in reference to the QB position is this. Do they have anyone that knows the system, has what the usual quarterback needs to have in the spread, AND be an athelete like Sizemore and Griffith both were?

Couple that with losing 5 of their front 7 defensively and 4 of their front 5 offensively and there are alot of crucial holes to fill.

One spot that I havent heard many if any speak of is the WR position. Sizemore had both Griffith, Shelton, and no 21 (his name escapes me). Griffith had no 21, Shelton, and a good release valve in Massey. Each and everyone of them, are now gone. So the new QB wont have the luxury of experienced WR.

Years like the last two that Wburg has had are began when, number one you get the natural tallent and "brotherhood" that the past 2 senior classes have had. The next step is believing and buying into the system. Finally, execution and preperation. In all of that, my opinion is that the most important aspect of that is BELIEVING and PREPERATION.

Which leads me to what I think Wburg's "X" factor is, and I dont see it going anywhere. Thats Coach Herron. He is a great developer of tallent and is obviously a good game planner on the offensive side of the ball. Its because of him and his staff, that I strongly believe that Williamsburg wont be too far behind come late November. The road will be tougher, a district championship more difficult, a regional title even more of a challenge. But While I expect aome winners/losers reversed, i still think its goina be the same kind of batch of teams from the regional finals on. Except for the Raceland region becoming different and 3 of the perenial contenders residing in the same region now.

Good luck to te Jackets in 2015.
