Two baseball players of a local high school are not allowedto play baseball because of a fight they had at a basketball game..they were there as fans and a fight broke out... they got banned from all floyd county sporting events...
i don't understand why they cant play because if an athlete fights during a game while a game is in play they only get suspended for a few games and get to continue to play the rest of the season and get to play watever sport they want to.. In your opinion Should the boys get to play??

No, they should not play. The same should take place during a game setting also. Fighting isn't the way to solve problems at a high school sporting event.

I think it just depends, I know if someone came up just punching me I would protect myself. I say let them play though, suspend them for a few games but let them play.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do things...like take it outside where no one else would have the chance to get hurt. Yes, I agree that the punishment fit the crime.
Kids have to learn that there are concequences for the decisions they make both good or bad.

It's highschool. You only get to experience it once and one mistake of fighting shouldn't ruin it. Everyone is taught forgiveness. Forgive the kids, punish them in some way, but don't take their highschool memories of playing sports away from them.

They should get to play. I mean there's no real reason that they wouldn't be able to.

The Superitendent of Floyd County said they couldn't

Although I would never condone fighting of any nature, I do think that we need to remember that kids are kids. They usually don't think past the next 2 minutes. I think we, as adults, tend to hold teenagers to a higher standard than we do most adults. Everyone here knows that there are 3 sides to every fight/argument when kids are involved...his - his - and the truth. 9 times out of 10 you will never get the 3rd side from anyone.
I think that they should be suspended for their actions, but not the entire season. Like someone said, if the basketball players would have gotten into a fight during the game, they would have been ejected and have to sit out a couple of games.
What would of happened if it were a couple of parents that fought in the stands??? Would they be allowed back into the games....probably.

There is some parents from SF banned from sporting events in floyd county. I know one parent didn't get to come to his son's senior night because of it.

Our children need to learn that fighting isnât the way to solve things. There needs to be a big loss when you decide to harm someone. It might only start as a fight but can lead to so much more. Just to name a few malicious wounding, felony assault and even murder at times. I work in a place that any fight is considered very serious. Some fights lead to weapons and some lead to people that are not even involved being harmed. What ever happened to communication and solving problems without hitting some one? We need to teach values and morals at this age so they donât throw their life away over a simple fight. I think we all know that a fight is only used to hurt; therefore, I do see each and every fight as very serious!
We have to teach our children to play by the :rules: .

I think it's insane and the Floyd County Superintendent is a joke, and everyone knows this. He took everything way to far when this went on and is still punishing South Floyd while Betsy Layne got nothing done to them. Let them play baseball you have punished them enough.
