The kids from the burg undoubtedly played with everything they had in them.......talked to a couple of them and they truly spent everything they had. Even struggled to get back up when game was over......not because of loss but just complete exhaustion. Mayfield played a great game today and the burg nearly pulled it off. So many people tried telling the rivals world that this team was for real and now some of them see why. Very proud of these young men that gave their team, school and community something to cheer about. Many of these young men will further their education because of their abilities and the town of williamsburg couldn't be any prouder of all of them. This had to be not only the best game of the weekend but maybe in some time. The catch by shelton was one of the most unbelievable i have seen in high school. Thanks again williamsburg football for the most enjoyable season to remember.

Congratulations to mayfield from 64SUR. I told you hell was coming when everybody was calling this team weak playing a cupcakes schudele I hope everybody can put this to rest about cupcakes and cream puff. But thank the football gods for intervening or Williamsburg would have been 1A STATE CHAMP..Mayfield you earn it....Just sayin and thanks for everybody thinking about my son he going to be ok....:blondnurs

The kicker didn't lose the game in OT. They were ahead at that point, Mayfield just wasn't going to be denied.
Williamsburg showed everyone what they were made of and played like champions today. Mayfield just did what Mayfield does...........WIN.

I never thought id pull for the winning team, and still feel like i need bbq sauce for crow. Definitly not mayfields best game, but the yellow jackets had alot to do with that. Folks they where the real deal. Future looks bright for mayfield with alot of skill players. Kinda wish the burg wasnt losing so much so they would have another shot.
I'm glad to finally see the orange bees get some respect

This game makes me feel better about the loss in the semis. we didnt play our best, but at our best, idk if we could have beaten the Wburg that was in BG tonight. Imo, having to adjust to our speed defensively helped prepare Williamsburg for MF's (mayfield is faster than us im not saying we r better than MF). But having seen all of the semi final games now (live and on film) i feel confident that the top 4 teams were the ones that made it to the semis. the east DID close the gap and. I think the East gets back the hardware next season. congrats to MF, big kudos to Williamsburg. What a great game and great 1A season!!!
I'm going to repeat this once Williamsburg didn't adjust in the raceland game Jefferson Patrick and Austin Huskey did not play..Can you imagine if they had.

Heart breaking loss for Williamsburg. Congrats to Mayfield.

Its only a game, when hearing of 64's family emergency it makes one stop and realize that. Glad to hear all is well for 64. Congrats to my Cards, leaving 1A on the top is really nice and 3 in a row is beyond words. Congrats to Williamsburg, heck of a team and out of body and mind effort. A couple of the catches by Williamsburg were super human. I was one who really expected a running clock but I was wrong. From here in the west it is easy to not give the east their due based on the past but Williamsburg would have none of it. Mayfield opened with a high snap over the Qb's head and it was a omen of the kind of day Williamsburg had planned for us. We fell behind early10-0 but rallied for the lead and at half I felt good. We continued to maintain a slim lead into the 4th and I still felt good about it and then mid to semi late 4TH Williamsburg kicked it into another gear scoring a TD and 2 point conversion and we were on our heels in a tie game but I knew we had the ball coming and felt we had been playing it conservative so I was still fairly confident until the INt. Confident became concern and we dodged a bullet. Heading into the OT I was gravely concerned as Williamsburg seemingly had us on the ropes and we were not showing signs of life on O at all and the D was starting to unravel. Boom! Williamsburg scores and I think for the second time that day that this maybe it. The PAT is missed and I again regained my faith and sure enough we got out of there with the win.
I never saw this one coming and hats off to Williamsburg. Our coach Morris summed up this team and season well in a tv interview saying this was a young team and certainly not one of the more talented teams we have had the last 5-6 years but it has been one that has refused to loose or get rattled.
Though today Williamsburg took them to the brink
Good luck to Williamsburg in the future and I think we can now all agree that the east was just as strong after today

Raceland fans were right. Williamsburg has some ankle twisters on their club. Watch the play from the 25:30 to 26:00 minute mark. Trajon Bright doesn't kick defenders because he likes it. Watch him describe to the White Hat what happened. If you think football is a dirty game, that anything goes on the bottom of a pile, that sportsmanship doesn't matter, then I have no respect for you.

I saw a few things happening on the bottom of the piles as well, I as well have no respect for that, it's cheap and doesn't help in getting respect for sure.
Other than that I thought Williamsburg was much faster live than on film, so I am gonna have to not put so much stock in what I see on film anymore. This was the second week in a row Mayfields running game was shutdown. I kept waiting for that big run by Trajon or Jordan but it never happened, credit that to Williamsburgs D. There is no denying their recievers beat our defense easily, and had some great hands to boot. #20 was a load to bring down, this years Burg was tremendously improved and I will eat my crow as well, speed was not an issue for the Burg this year. :worthy:

Was hoping it was a heat of the moment or isolated incident, but i guess t wasnt. Hate to hear that, but sadly it is part of the game rather if I or anyone else agrees with it or not. Either way, hats off to all the kids yesterday. They without a doubt laid it all on the line.

64, I agree that the burg was for real. But just as in Ft Mitchell last week, we acted like champions and found that link in the chain and broke through to win. Now, I did not want the ankle stuff mentioned, but none the less it was happening. I take it that it is a few seniors that don't want to lose at all costs. The best team and still champions did win. The mental make up of our kids and coaching made that happen.
On a side note, 64 you made wpsd news. Google wpsd. Go to sports and check the clip on mayfield edges williamsburg and watch.

So your first posts on this game are to call Williamsburg players dirty and say stats don't matter...Stats don't win games but when a team dominates every catogory except turnovers it is usually indicates who might have won the game...Way to go #9, just when I thought a Mayfield fan couldn't get more arrogant you proved me wrong...
The better team on a given day does not always win that is correct, but man your team was very lucky to get out of BG with the win...You won I get it but don't bring that crap here, act like the Champion your team is...
