Shelby Valley came out shell-shocked. Putting up points on the NCC first team was a good morale booster for the off season. Best of luck to NCC
#3
This is the reason I didn't include this game in the pickems this week.
I don't think anyone would have went against NCC

Are we sure about that? It looked like it was the second team kids.

The first TD was against the first team late in 2Q. Maybe with some subs, but a lot of the starting 11 were out there. SV could have scored another TD if not for the turnover on the NCC 2.

Great season for Shelby valley. Congratulations to Newport central Catholic on their third consecutive state championship appearance

If im not mistaken, wasnt it 43-0 halftime? These sv fans are still dillusional lol. Even after the a$$ whoopin ncc put on em. I love being able to say "i told u so". Good teams dont trail 43-0 at home.

Don't be so sure about that, coming from someone who prob thought SV Jada chance to win this game!! Had our starters not came out we would have put up 70 points, so no matter what the score of next wks game is at least we will be there playing it!

Sorry, it was 43-0 at the half. NCC's first team didn't play after halftime. SV scored on the second team and our freshmen.

You're so smart. I must be as dumb as a bag of hammers :biglmao:

No, I'm fairly sure Smith was running the ball after halftime.

Lol, you must have watched a different game. He did NOT run the ball 2nd half....he didn't need to.

Smith did not touch the field after halftime!!!

Great season Shelby Valley....:Cheerlead

The better football team won last night it was 43 - 0 going in to the half . Number 3 didn't touch the ball in the 2nd half . No excuses here at Shelby Valley . The turnovers and penalties didn't matter in this one . This game was over 5 min. Into the game. What a great year for Valley they have nothing to hang there head. Good luck to NCC in bowling green . Valley is rooting for you .

Wow. I heard a lot of people telling us how great that SV defense was. I never bought into it. We'll see what our defense can do Fri. We've only given up 13 points in 4 playoff games.

Junior Jacob Smith's huge first half carried Newport Central Catholic to a 43-14 win in a Class 2A state semifinal at Shelby Valley on Friday.

Smith went into the locker room with nine carries for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and he also returned a punt 78 yards for another score.

[COLOR="Blue"]The Thoroughbreds induced the running clock in the second quarter and led, 43-0 at halftime before trotting out the second string to play the final two quarters.

NewCath, which has won eight of nine after an 0-4 start, is headed to its eighth state championship game in the past 10 seasons.

The Thoroughbreds, who won titles in 1984, 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2012 and lost in the Class 2A championship game last year, will face Louisville DeSales in the state final at Western Kentucky University at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Really??? Who cares, the best team won last night. Newcath put in the 2nd team the 2nd half, that is who SV scored on. So let's just say Newcath 1st team shut them out, and leave it at that. Congrats to both teams. I was impressed with the sportsmanship displayed by both teams, from start to finish. Before the game the SV cheerleaders came to Newcath sideline and prayed with our cheerleaders. Then after the game both teams met at 50 yard line to pray together.. VERY classy!!!

Speed of this game was totally obvious. SV was out gunned and it was over before they knew what to do. Their offense is one dimensional and NCC defended it rather handily. NCC's offensive line was able to get to their second level blocks which created a lot of space for NCC's backs. Special teams were a killer.

SV got a little taste of how much more work there program needs to compete with top notch programs in the state. It was a great season for the wildcats, the off season is where it all begins. The teams competing year in and year out for state titles work year round on getting better. its not just a every ten years or so thing. The names associated with state title apperances every year work 365 days a year in the weight room and on technique. Congrats SV on a great season, but work starts Monday on football not next august.

This thread is quite hilarious, people from NKY predicted a running clock, while people from SV had them winning, eating horse, and whatever else they wanted to say!! It boils down to NCC came to SV to take care of business and that's what they did. It's simple, and as far as shutting them out they scored on our JV and freshman team. Now you guys can sit here and predict that DeSalles will put a running clock on us don't be so sure about that.
