2 weeks ago I think a lot of people would say yes... just don't think they would have thought it would be Belfry and SV left standing.

Huge mental mistake by Pburg on last drive in regulation, all they needed was a FG to win it, but tried to do too much. Congrats SV, good luck against NCC.

To be fair PBurgs kicker had already missed one on the night and a game winning field goal is a lot of pressure to put on anyone. What killed them was the two ints and the personal foul in OT.

Just got back from this game, and all I got to say is... WOW!

I am still in shock that Shelby Valley was able to win this. In the regular season game between the two, it seemed like SV was the better team that night, but Prestonsburg got the victory. Just the opposite tonight, P-Burg seemed like the better team, but Valley was able to pull it out in the end. Even though there were a couple of occasions in the 4th quarter when it seemed like the Blackcats were about to put the game on ice, SV just wouldn't die.

Good game Prestonsburg, and congrats to Shelby Valley!

To be fair, P-Burg's coach wasn't the only one to make some curious decisions tonight. Even though Eric Ratliff has done an AMAZING job this year, I still think we attempted too many passes tonight. Two were intercepted, one was a missed 2-pt conversion, and one incomplete resulted in turnover on downs. I understand keeping the defense honest, but do it with short, safe passes, not deep balls. And if we had lost in overtime, that decision to pass for the first conversion attempt could have been costly.

Bottom line, I don't think coaching won or lost this game for either team.

The personal foul in overtime didn't hurt a whole lot. It was a "half the distance" penalty which gave SV a little less than 2 yards.

The interceptions did hurt, but remember Valley also threw two INT's. The difference was SV took one of theirs back to the house.

Still not sure how he did it. Not exactly a speed burner, he just broke a few tackles and somehow got out in front of everybody. P-Burg had one guy that could have gotten him, but SV had an extra player running alongside that took care of that block. Just an amazing play.

Why don't you sit your butt down somewhere and shut your stupid mouth! The coach! Did Coach DeRossett cause the fumble in the 4th quarter or miss the F.G. Before half time, or cause the late hit penalty in overtime? Losers like you can't think of anything else to say except blame the coach! It's obvious you don't know where you went to the bathroom last, let alone know anything about football. Just shut up!

The foul hurt because instead of 2nd and 5 to score you have 1st and 2. Nobody is going to stop Valley 4x for 2 yards. 3x for five? Maybe. Plus any penalty in overtime is twice as egregious.

On first down Valley took it down inside the 4. The penalty was only half the distance, which put the ball just inside the 2. And even though the PA announcer initially said it was a first down, they later corrected it, down counted. So it went from 2nd and goal from inside the 4, to 2nd and goal from inside the 2.

On second down, Valley appeared to score, but the officials ruled him down on about the 1-foot line. They then punched it in on 3rd down.
