I also think Prestonsburg would be an upgrade from most of your schedule. I just think they should travel 2 hours west and play some of the larger Lexington schools instead.

I think most JC fans agree we need to beef up our schedule. I won't argue that. However, I am not sure if we could have beaten Highlands the last 7 years regardless of who we played in the regular season.
My issue is fans from other local schools that keep telling us we need to play beter teams from higher classes, when their school won't take a 15-30 minute bus ride to do the same thing. Kind of hypocritical would you agree?

Do you think if they would've loaded up the schedule with monster teams from the GCL that it would have somehow got them to the state title these past 4 years? If that is your logic, how well did that work out for CCH? Fact is that JC has reached out to numerous schools locally because outside of Belfry and Harlan County, no school within 2 hours has the stones to play us home and home. You also do realize that Belfry has the benefit of sitting their starters the first 3 rounds of the playoffs as well without even being tested? JC, on the other hand, plays in region 4 that continually consists of 3 of the top 5 schools in 4A. Class 4A these past 4 years has been a different animal than 3A, 2A, 1A and most years 5A.

Just a question for you, in your opinion what school in the area do think johnson central would benefit from playing. Also what school in the area do you think would benifit from playing johnson central. I don't know of any for either. Tell me what benifit pikeville, paintsville , Shelby valley, phelphs, betsy lane , lawrence county, raceland, belfry, sheldon clark, magoffin co, morgan county, pike central, russell, or any body else in the area gets out of playing johnson central

I agree with the first bolded part.

I also agree with the second, but my team is not one of those. Five of our non district games we play up in class.

I said play up a class and better. None of the teams you refer to were better. If JC doesn't get credit for Perry Central and Harlan Co. I can't give you a pass either.

I believe that Lawrence and Russell would benefit the most by playing JC because more than likely they would face Belfry in the playoffs. If you see it before the dance it would make it a tad easier to tango. Pikeville poses an athletic team, typically one of the better teams in the area, while running multiple formations and split their calls up well. Prestonsburg runs a spread offense that many teams are doing now days and we can never get enough practice and exprience against a solid passing team. The best part about all of this is that we would not drain a limited budget traveling 3 hours one way. Paintsville, Shelby Valley, Phelps, Betsy Layne, Raceland, Sheldon Clark, Magoffin, Morgan, Pike Central would gain nothing and we are not trying to play them nor would we entertain the idea of playing them at this time.

Yes you did...even with the "arguably" thrown in.

:dontthink
Sorry. I did not realize that I needed to include a definition for "arguably" in my post. If I had meant to say that Johnson Central had the 3rd best team in its class in each and every season since 2006, then that is what I would have said. If I meant that they had the 3rd best team their class in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons, then that is what I would have said.

If "arguably" is a stumbling block, then I don't think writing more precisely and including footnotes with my posts would help.

Those are some great points, Dale. I had not really thought about how Belfry's potential opponents would benefit from playing JC, but they should both jump at the opportunity.
