I like grass much better, but it's got to be taken care of and I don't mean taken care of by a plumber.
I've never seen the field look like this at Colonel Stadium, but they don't have sprinkler malfunctions

Pulaski counties field conditions are pretty common for games like this. Been hearing this for years. Not sure why any team would agree to play them on a field like that. Ask Madison southern about playing them on this field last year when the people had on water boots. It ruined all their uniforms and of course pulaski beat them. They know what their doing, just don't care about how they win, as long as they win. That's their coaches for ya. It'll all come back to them. I think a little came back to them last weekend when their cross town rival southwestern high school completely shut them out! It's called karma...Good job BG.

you'd be surprised how many teams across the state do this.

I would challenge you to come on over and see if the sprinklers were running. In case you didn't catch the weather, it had been raining. The field had several areas without grass before the season started but it wasn't by their choice. Dirt field plus rain equals mud. If Madison Southern didn't have turf I'm sure the game a few weeks ago it would have been muddy then as well. Also, I may not be remembering correctly but I believe PC beat them on their turf each and every time they have played. They didn't need sprinklers.

SW does all right, the best school in the state.
Sarcasm. There's a lot of wrong going on at SW so I think you need to worry about your own team. Oh the greatness in the post on here from SW fans. The all ole mighty warriors.
You win one game & you'd think it was the Super Bowl. Win the one that counts.
The whole sprinkler crap is ridiculous & if you believe that than you would most likely jump off a bridge if someone told you too.. Same concept.

Boo hoo hoo. The field was wet and muddy and their uniforms got dirty. Fact is Pulaski beat Mad South with Harris three straight years during reg. season on turf in Berea. Bowling Green is whining because they didnt come in and win by 30 when they should give some credit to PC defense. Mud makes a fast team slow and a slow team slower. There is no advantage.

All jokes aside. Bowling Green did not look as impressive as last year. I feel like the state champion can . come out of this district. PC at full strength. SW- NLaurel and Mad. South can beat them on a given night. I don't know a whole lot about Letcher.

Bowling Green might not quite be as good as they were last year, but I dont see North Laurel or Madison Southern competing with Bowling Green, The Purples are still in a differen't league.

Don't get me wrong.. They are a very good football team still but I honestly think Southwestern could have a shot and if Pulaski could throw the ball I think they might have pulled it off Friday. Harris is the best there is and that always gives Madison Southern a chance. North Laurel gets it done. It's not always pretty but they are a good football team. No disrespect to Bowling Green but this might be the year to get them.

No offense taken. This years squad only returned 6 starters. We didn't know ourselves, until the St. X game, how good they would be. There are some very good classes coming up, so this year might be the best shot for some other team to upset them. Next year will be tougher for everyone, when Highlands and Cov. Cath. comes to 5A. I don't see anyone, other than Southwestern from the east that might challenge the Purples.

If that's the worst conditions seen in 33 years then he hasn't seen many football games in Eastern Kentucky at this point of the season. Most school in Eastern Kentucky don't have the resources for turf fields or choose to use them on something rather than athletics.

Well he has spent his entire career in warren county and his field and most fields in that area have this thing they call a tarp. I know I have never seen one in eastern KY but they do exist.

Not quite true. I know of MANY teams in the East that have recently upgraded to turf fields. Among them are Belfry, Hazard, Perry Central, Harlan County, Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, Shelby Valley, etc.
Someone in the west might be able to confirm or refute, but turf fields actually might be even more prevalent in the eastern half of the state now.

I said TARP. It goes ON the grass field while its raining and comes off for the game.

BG must have a different team other than the one that played PC Friday. PC, NL, MS all challenge BG, SW beats them.

I said most, as in the majority. So are you refuting that the majority of Eastern Kentucky has grass fields? I didn't say whether or not I thought Pulaski had the field a mess on purpose (I know some teams let the field go based on thinking it will give them an advantage) just that at this point in the season with the weather you see a lot of these grass fields get sloppy. It would be a little surprising if Pulaski did indeed do this considering I thought their offense was based on a spread quick passing offense. Either way BG was and is the better team and would win on any surface so I'm not sure why there is complaining. It's all part of the game.

Yeah, they are a different team. Did you see the picture I posted of Friday night? BG is a speed and execution team that blitzes a ton and throws a pro style timing passing game as their calling card and could do NEITHER of those because of the field conditions. I came away more impressed because they beat Pulaski left handed and NOTHING they can see in the playoffs will surprise them now.

My reply wasn't to you, but I failed to correctly specify to whom the reply WAS directed. My apologies. In truth, I was replying to the poster who suggests that turf fields are a rarity in the eastern part of the state.
I am, however, aware of what a tarp (tarpaulin) is and does. Thanks for the follow-up, though.

Bowling Green might have played left handed but Pulaski played with both hands tied behind their backs with several starters out (5 or 6) and still was in the game. In my opinion Bowling Green didn't look very physical, their secondary looked weak and their passing game was inconsistent, South Western will take full advantage of all these weaknesses. After watching Bowling Green Friday, South Western wins 21-7.

I don't know why i'm trying, but i'm trying to save you a little heartbreak and maybe prevent some embarrassment over these foolish posts and the ones I know will come the week of the finals when some eastern bracket team gets all cocky and predicts a blowout over BG in the finals. You literally just predicted SW to beat BG by 2 td's on a turf field when they just beat Pulaski by more than you did and did it in 3 inches of mud. You have no idea how many starters BG had out friday because they don't advertise it all over the place. BG secondary looked weak to you when PC threw 1 pass over 5 yards? Bg looked not very physical in 3 inches of mud when they ran the ball 40 times for over 200 yards on a night when PC knew exactly what was coming? Maybe you should go back and read all the super-trash talk coming from the east before last years final. Maybe you should ask someone who has been around, and isn't a homer. Bowling Greens seniors are 53-1 right now. They have 3 rings ALREADY. Congrats on your district championship, I wish coach French well and hope some of his knowledge rubs of on the warrior fans.

To all BG fans from a true SW fan:
#1 congrats on all you have accomplished, it is amazing and you are the top dog until someone knocks you off.
#2 please , please, please do not judge Southwestern and their fans by posts by people who are pretending to be SW fans.
note: people who do not spell the school name correctly ( South Western instead of Southwestern ) might not be a true fan.

The only turf field in Bowling Green/Warren County is at WKU. We haven't played many teams from the east, so I guess we wouldn't know anything about the fields. If you are going to be serious about football, take a little pride in field and everything else regarding the program. They could at least try and make it look like they worked on the mud hole.
