Jefferson Patrick surpassed the 500 career tackle mark last night. I've never heard of such a thing especially when on average Williamsburg starters usually only play 2 quarters of football a game.

Congrats to Jefferson. Very fine young man.

Jefferson is a heck of a defensive player, you will never see him arm tackle, or miss a tackle. IF not for playing only 1/2 of games the last 2 years or he would have a lot more tackles. The Patrick boys were taught fundamentals at a early age by BIG E their dad who has as much football knowledge as any coach in the area and played and coached at the college level with some notable coaches. Alex, Jefferson and Brantley all have had talent on the field but are outstanding young men who will be positive members of the community. I know the Jacket nation will miss the Patrick boys playing on Friday nights.

That is really impressive actually.
Just to put it in perspective of how impressive it is......
A.J. Hawk holds the Ohio record with 583 tackles
Warren Sapp played from 1995-2007 and only had 571 career tackles
Ray Lewis played at the University of Miami where he only recorded 393 career tackles
Khairi Clark, who is a University of Florida defensive lineman and actually played in the US Army All-American Bowl only had a little over 300 career tackles.
The 2015 College Football Hall of Fame candidates were released not long ago and a couple of them couldn't even get to that number.
Freddie Carr from Texas-El Paso had 471 career tackles
Tom Cousineau from Ohio State had 572 career tackles
Bob Crable actually holds the Notre Dame record at 521 career tackles
Mike Dirks from Wyoming had 269 career tackles
Tim Krumrie from Wisconsin who was a three time all conference selection as a DT only had 444 career tackles

Congradulations to him. 500 is a lot of tackles, and would be a school record at most schools. Is that a school record at Williamsburg.

I'm guessing its a school record and probably close to being a state record?

And he didn't even play in the 1st game of the year. :muscleman

And played with a torn labrum most of the season last year

He had his most tackles his freshmen year. As Williamsburg has improved his numbers have went down. Sharing the wealth and limited playing time due to blowouts have cut into his numbers every year. Great tackler and as good of instincts as I have ever seen.

I don't think its very close to a state record. Mayfield great Jonathon Jackson had 601, and he doesn't own the state record. He started 4 years also, and in 60 games, since may field went to the finals those 4 years straight. Williamsburg hasn't been to the finals all of patricks years so id say his per game is close to what Jackson's was, and anyone in the conversation to have as many tackles as him is a great high school player in my book.

Alex was a heck of a player for Whitley as well. Good role player on the 08 Region team.

Congrats to Jefferson, great kid and player..

He is good, but we are satisfied with our line backing group here in mayfield.

Why in the world would you say that when we are celebrating a success for one of our players? That's real classy! I usually don't say much but that comment is over the top!

With the exception of a few States most of the state records are between 500-600. So that's why I said that. I think Florida's is up over a 1,000?
He probably averaged around 10 or more tackles a game depending on how many games he played in since his freshman year?

I apologize if I came off the wrong way. It was a response to him saying he is the best pound for pound in the state. Never said he wasn't good, but we have some good ones, and what am I suppose to do say yep he is the best johnny Hernandez isnt in the same league as him. I just think to many people want to say ours is better than yours, I'm just stating great if that's how you feel, but we are happy with ours to. Not discrediting him 500 tackles speak for itself.

I maybe missing something but as of right now Jefferson Patrick has 432 tackles
2011- 149 tackles
2012- 111 tackles
2013- 115 tackles
2014- 67 tackles ( Pineville game has not been posted )
Total--432 tackles
:blondetea. Just figure I better points this out before somebody else.

I don't know that to be 100% accurate. When I was recruiting a kid from a school in Miami his coach told me that in passing in a conversation I had with him. When somebody like Ray Lewis can only get 393 for his high school career, it makes me question a lot of things I hear like that?
11-02-2014, 04:05 AM
500 tackles is remarkable, congrats to a very tough kid .
