Congratulations!
#4
Congrats to Panthers. 10-0 time for playoffs.
#5
Congrats to Pikeville, hope you guys have a deep playoff run and maybe some hardware.

My Panthers controlled this game literally from the opening kickoff. Russell is a good young team but Pikeville was just too much. Congrats to Coach Mac, his staff, and this team for bringing home the first undefeated regular season since 1991. Now the thinning of the herd begins. Keep it up boys! HAIL PIKEVILLE!!!

Nice win by the Panthers. Hopefully my Rams will get their shot at the Region in Pikeville three weeks from now. Good luck !
#8
Just a dominating performance tonight just never felt like the game was a threat after the Panthers intercepted Russell in the endzone on that drive. Nice anticipation by Vanderbeck on that play.
#9
Bout what I figured w the rain. Actually higher score that I anticipated after the weather was the way it was.
#10
Congrats Panthers

Congrats to Pikeville. I thought Pikeville would win, but also thought Russell would play better than they did.

Special teams was the story of this one. Opening kickoff returned to the Russell 2. Squib kick on the opening kickoff of the second half deep in Russell territory. Basically spotted Pikeville a TD to start each half. Big play to Estep to end thriftiest half. Pikeville made the big plays.

I think both of these teams make a good playoff run.

With his 42 yard TD grab to end the first half, Cody Estep surpassed Jeremiah Akers' career receiving yardage mark of 3,180 yards to become Pikeville High School's All-Time leader in career receiving yards. He broke the Career Receiving TDs record (also previously held by Akers) last year at Russell. Congratulations to Cody on this great accomplishment! It would be tough to find a young man to be a better representative of a team and school! Hail Pikeville!

Congrats to Pikeville on a big win and a great regular season. I hope that we get to see a game with them and Raceland, those two teams are such total packages but the units that impress me so much are their defensive units. Both are so athletic and play so well as a group, just be a heck of a match up and would be such a great contest to watch for certain.

Congrats P-Ville.

Now go get state.
#16
Good luck in playoffs guys
#17
Like I said Russell been over rated all year.
#18
Congrats to the Panthers on finishing the regular season at 10-0

Congrats to my Panthers on a great win. This score was about what I thought. Russell has a much improved team, and has had a great season. Keep rolling Panthers. HAIL PIKEVILLE!!!

The opening kickoff and the kickoff to start the second half were huge for Pikeville.

Those two plays and the goal line stand and the bomb to Estep at the end of the first half were just to much to overcome.

Conley played some but rested that ankle after halftime. More important to have him healthy in the playoffs.

I think both of these teams will be in regional finals.

Looked like Pugh got a little banged up. Hope he is ok.

He's fine. Just typical bucks and dings from what I hear.

Those Panthers are looking great , congrats on a great season. I personally believe they can go to Bowling Green and bring home the gold.

2014 Pikeville Panthers State Champions - kinda rolls of your tongue

Just want to say congrats to Cody Estep for becoming the Pikeville High School all time leader in career receiving yards. This young man continues to excel . Looking forward to the next level for him.

Horse collar tackle to Cole should have been a +7 for Russell and Pikeville scoring late on mostly a JV Russell Defense -7 brings my prediction of the game pretty spot on. Smile
#26
The 7 they scored was thisclose to being deflected or intercepted by Pikeville. Mistimed jump by d back. I also saw 2 other missed interceptions by Pikeville on the little dink jumper/pass attempts to the TE over the middle. And a couple of 1st half drives were derailed by penalties. This game could have gone running clock early 3rd. But credit to Russell, never have up and kept battling. Much better than they were last year, that speaks to what Maynard is doing there. Will be a real force to be reckoned with in 3A East in 2 more years.
#27
This game also could have very easily been 14-7 early in the 3rd with Russelll having the ball.but that's not the way the ball bounced.

Russell ended 3 first have drives inside the Pikeville 25. Also inexcusably let Estep behind the safeties to end the half.

There are a lot of ifs in every game. In this one Pikeville simply made the big plays. They are a very good team.
#28
Congrats to Cody Estep on some big milestones.
#29
Congrats to Pikeville! You have a great team and I hope you boys get a shot at the mighty cards in December.
