Middlesboro-52 Somerset-47 FINAL
#1
What a game... So how will the playoffs look now??
#2
Not good if Barton doesn't make it back you can tell Mboro really miss him on D and he's so talented on offeense. Freshman kid at QB is impressive though I now see why he made it into starting lineup

yeah we still got Pittman but its not the same without our two headed monster in barton and pittman I'm pretty sure he will be back the first game though... Especially since P'burg loss to Leslie P-burg was the favorite in this region and now we may have to face them first round anyways...
#4
We will play Shelby Valley. If we play def like this we can not beat either one of them.

Nah man if you add the point system SV gets the 1 seed Pburg gets the 2 pretty sure... and we get the 3 so were stuck with Pburg because they lost tnight... Honestly I wouldn't say much about the defense first time we've let over 40 on us all year and Pburg also let Leslie get over 40 on them so maybe another shootout???

This region is wild. Anybody could win it.
#7
Congratulations Jackets!
#8
Like where LCA sitting, can't wait for the region to start
#9
You do realize rtl LCA could still draw Prestonsburg. Plus that Whitman kid is nice but if he gets hurt LCA has no shot of beating anyone.

I agree. With an off week to prepare and mesh, and with a break here and there, winless Somerset could win the Region.
#11
Middlesboro you guys played lights out, you played like I expected all year just keep it going.
#12
Great job men!!

Anyone see Jake Brock run down Doan on that punt return? There is no question who is the faster of those two!

Thanks for letting us know.

lol... You mean Brock is faster free-handed than Doan carrying a football. HUGE difference between running with a football tucked and running with the use of both arms.

Brock is fast, but he was the punter and therefore the safety, he had a 50 yard cushion and an angle lol, also not totally certain Jordan's top end speed is 100% back from last years meniscal surgery. Both kids are fast no doubt but that's a pretty ignorant statement.

Was real ballgame. If it hadn't been for #10, we would be talking a whole different outcome. Congratulations Jackets.

No they can't. LCA is locked into the 2-seed and will have a first-round matchup with Leslie County, who will end up third in the 3-team tiebreaker in district 7.

If P-Burg wins the tiebreak, LCA could get them in the 2nd round. If Valley wins the #1 seed, LCA would not see P-Burg until the region championship.

I've gotta admit, if I were playing the last game of a winless regular season, on the road, and I found myself behind 20-0 in the first quarter, the situation would require some real introspection.

Luckily for Somerset, there's a spark of something there. It's sometimes faint and clearly fragile, but it's there. It was a an absolute sh!t-sandwich of a loss, but lots of positives to build on. And at this point in such a dismal fall, that's a testament to the program.

Question: I know that 4-seeds have knocked off 1-seeds from time to time in the KHSAA playoffs since they've expanded the format, but does anyone know of a WINLESS team that has won a playoff game in Kentucky?

GOOD question !!

Don't know the answer, but... Somerset may be the BEST winless small school team in modern Kentucky football.

That's what I meant in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Prestonburg is the only team on that side that has a chance to make it to the regional.

Any team could string a couple complete games and win it all.
#23
At this point in time 7 of the 8 teams in playoffs could win out. Hang on for a Wild Ride!!! Praying for a sign, sign, sign, it's about time damn time. Somerset is due. Don't overlook them.
#24
Somerset has improved leaps and bounds the last several weeks. Beware the bunny.

Maybe or maybe not but until that happens the "nice" player is the best in the region, I don't think LCA is shaking in their shoes to play anyone,so Prestonburg, Leslie,SV it doesn't matter, they will be ready.Anything can happen in the playoffs should be fun
#26
I don't think anyone in District 7 is worried about playing anyone from District 8. Like I said before any of 7 Teams can win it All. LCA, Middlesboro, Danville, Somerset, P" burg, Shelby Valley or Leslie County any can win Region. Let the fun begin.
#27
my advise to the jumpers would be to embrace the opportunity that lies before you. There are two kinds of winless teams, the ones that are not very good and get blown out every game and then there are those like you that are in the games and just cant seem to get a break.

you gotta believe in yourself, believe in your teammates , believe in your coaches and you can pull off something that they will be talking about years from now.

Get off your heels and on your toes, stop the penalties, embrace the challenge that awaits you, and HAVE FUN making history.
#28
Wouldn't be surprised if Danville, LCA, Middlesboro, and Somerset all won their first round playoff game

RTL we get it. Whitman is the best football player to ever grace this district.
