NL 35 - Madison Southern 14 Harris, did NOT play, he was there on crutches. Mentioned by NL's PA Guy, tonight & received a large hand from the North Laurel Fans. NL's 1st team defense continues to be tuff!

Good win for the Jags! First time for North to make playoffs 3 years in a row. Great job by Coach Larkey & staff, Jags going in the right direction. Damien Harris is classy guy, wish him the best!! Hope to see him in Ky Blue next year!!

Congrats to N. Laurel and Chris Larkey on the win!

Madison Southern is in a must win game versus Lincoln Co. If they don't win that they go home for the playoffs, and basically means they are just Damien.

Just goes to show Madison Southern is just a one man show. Without Harris they just can't seem to get it done.

Yes, also goes to show that 'a one man show' can change the dynamics of a game and a team can win if they are lucky enough to have a major player like Harris on the team!

Good luck to both teams, North Laurel has one of the best coaching staffs in the state. I also know you have to have A good core to start with. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken po po.

North has one of the BEST defenses in 5-A in my opinion. They have only allowed 12.7 pts per game behind only Pulaski Co. & Bowling Green. They are allowing 211 yds rushing per game which according to the radio announcers last evening on the way home that ranks among the state leaders as well. SW beat them by 1 & Pulaski beat them by 2 This team is on the RISE!! A good team to hitch your wagon to right now! :1:

Things are really looking good for the Jag Nation, good to see others noticing. I have been watching this program for several years now and can tell you one thing for sure, NORTH IS ON THE RISE!!!!With this teams current and upcoming players I see the move next year to District 7 as positive one. Will be interesting to see if we can get a win against either Letcher/Whitley in the first round. Moving on to the second round is very important to these players, coaches, and fans. With undefeated JV and FR teams things are really moving forward for JAG NATION! Our middle school program is only getting better and better. The traveling 4th/5th graders doing well this year also. This is not just a basketball/baseball community any more

There are those in the tri-county area very interested in this team this year and glad to see the success, I am sure it has been hard earned. We were talking during the game the other night, it appears NL has several D-1 players on this starting roster. #10 goes without saying, what a work horse this kids is (strong & can run the ball well & block). #15 he is like a bulldozer coming thru that line what a great effort this kid gives every game we have seen - just a terrific strength & ability in his kid. The QB is savy and smart and moves very well, he could be a RB too the way he moves. #23 zigs and zags thru that line you never know where he is going and that kicker man can he ever boot one best we have seen in this area. A coach dreams of kids like #25 #63, #79 #18 & #57 - jotted those numbers down as they were playing (should have got a program). A fellow sitting by us was saying some Freshmen were getting in during this game getting some great playing time, wanted to get to the Johnson Co. game to see them & we heard Friday night it was cancelled. Onward - upward North Laurel, looks like it's your time to shine!! We jumped on this band wagon at just the right time looks like!!

The number 10 you mention for North is Jake McFadden, a senior, who is headed to Harvard (yep I said Harvard!) next year. According to my son, who is a classmate of his, he has tested in the top 1% of high school students in the U.S. as an engineering student. My son said he was also going to play football there, but even if he doesn't there's a success story for you any way you look at it.

Congrats to North! When they played Knox to the wire I knew this team was TOUGH. Very well coached with kids who want to be involved in the gameplan. Good luck to North in the future! Shock the state, Jags.

On another North note for you Tight End, I was told the North-Johnson Central freshman game this Thursday night, which I was looking forward to like you were, has been cancelled. Don't think it will be made up, but not sure. If I hear anything further I will post it.
As for this year, I agree with Jag Swag that North really needs a playoff win to get over the hump, but a road game at Whitley or Letcher won't be a slam dunk by any means. Both those teams seem to be improving, but I would still make North a slight favorite if they stay healthy in they key spots the next two weeks. If they could get that win, it is certainly not out of the question that they could pull an upset in a round two matchup at PC or SW.

Has North faced a passing team this year?

Pulaski Co. is a passing team. Riley Hall, played against NL, this was before he was out, he threw a lot. :football:

North will be a tough out come playoff time.
10-21-2014, 02:54 AM
This is what happens when you hire a good coach and give him time to build a program. Everyone thought North would be down this year but they have just reloaded. There is a bunch of administrations that should take notes.

I just got a call a bit ago that NL's JV beat SL's JV tonight 50-0 at SL's field! Lots of subs in after the half. They are doing something right at NL right now! Wow, just WOW!!:Clap::Clap::Clap:

Go to the school you are interested in, their homepage, and click on sports, it should bring up a calendar with the sports schedule on it. I did that and found it for NL, Whitley & Harlan Co.

JV is 7 - 0, FR 6 - 0, we had more games scheduled, however, other teams have cancelled on us! Looking for more games any one interested?
