I agree with you,but think they are holding back.but I could be wrong

The anticipation of Mayfield's "secret offense" is more than I can handle. However, my guess is second or third game of the playoffs Mayfield is going to throw a halfback pass on third and long, and he's going to jump on here and keep posting, "Did you see it Did you see it?"

I think its more of packages and adaptations is what he is refering to. Its football. U run, u pass, hit, tackle, block, punt, kick...thats about it

Idc how deep the top 5 teams may be , if they have enough to platoon w/o much of a drop off, idk if neone is able to compete in single A against fresh legs in the 4th quarter. Ie: Newcath/Raceland 2006. Raceland up 27-10 at the half and then NCC had fresh lineman and almost a whole new defensive personel in the 2nd half. We lost 46-27

I think its a lot of things he can't explain and that's why he's calling it a secret?

I'm not going to explain. Just understand they have things ready. I think the end of jv season opens up a few more speed options as well.

I'll be waiting with overwhelming anticipation. I can't wait to see those halfback passes?

FYI, here's the # of players on each roster for the top 10 1a teams, according to MaxPreps:
Mayfield - 55
Raceland - 53
Williamsburg - 47
Beechwood - 47
Holy Cross - 41
Frankfort - 36
Paintsville - 35
Pikeville - 33
Russellville - 29
Hazard - 27
How accurate that is, I couldn't tell you, but, that's the # they list for each team..

We started the year with 60. Of course we lost a rec in the McCracken game. We lost probably 4 or so youngsters to injuries, so 55 may be right on.

According to riherds.com, Pikeville had 43 listed at the beginning of the season. Not sure right now what the number is.

Raceland's 55 played great freaking football tonight. Over 600yds of total offense (unofficially). Snyder sith over 200 and 3 tds. Very proud of the Rams tonght .

Raceland is sneaking right up there...Could tell a little bit about them in the next 2 weeks... For the Pikeville fan have or do you think you have had a bad game..

For the Pikeville fan have or do you think you have had a bad game..Honestly, I don't think they've played a complete game yet. Getting better and better on D, still have improvement to make on the passing game on O. But the last 2 games have been typically when the younger guys would maybe allow a TD here and there, but they haven't and that shows the D talent isn't as big of a drop off as maybe it was in years past. Not belittling any if the kids, just shows Coach Mac has finally started equalizing some of the talent gap from 1 to 33 on the roster.

We are seeing the same thing on our end of US 23. Numbers are good for a single A ball club if they field a 40 man roster or more. The issue though, often becomes a lack of depth, even with those types of numbers. Its rare for a team to have ger little drop off from their 1s-2s, then 1s-3s. I think thats why you are seeing the east look so much better and should fair so much better in BG this year. The front runners all have pretty good numbers, but within those numbers are quality 2s, 3s, and ins aome cases 4s. What a difference a year makes. I think each if this years front runners in the east would likely beat their respective selves from a year ago.

Personally, I would love to see a Pikeville v. Paintsville rematch? I'm not insinuating that Paintsville could win, but I would love to see the difference between the first week and the last with them?

You will likely see it. Paintsville's offense is improving, but Pikeville's offense would shred their defense again for a very big number.

If Pikeville and Raceland meets its going to be one hell of a game..Last year I expected Pikeville to play Hazard and I was wrong on both teams.Racelands game with Ironton will tell all about there run Defense. If they hold up fairly decent in that game I do like Racelands chances against Pikeville not saying that's who would win.Special teams is where I think most of the games beyond the 3rd round will be won.

^^^i agree. Raceland has to get more consistent in the regaurd. In both playoff losses to Pikeville special teams were Raceland's downfall. We are better in that regaurd from a recieving stand point, have more 2nd level guys that are more atheletic, but we still dont have much in the way of a kicker who gets the ball deep and high in the air to give our team time to get downfield. That, I would say is our one weak spot. I kind of wonder how. Messer would do. He is a really good place kicker and probably has a 25-30 yd range. But due to trying to avoid injury, We will probably continue using Bailey Walker and Isaac Wallace.

330 yards rushing, over 100 passing and 54 pts. hung on you in 2011 and you blame it on special teams?:dontthink
nicker:

234 rushing yards last year in the rain and wind and mud. Pikeville will move the ball on Raceland all night if they play this year on the turf, write it down. The game won't be decided by special teams, it will be decided at the LOS.

I am confident, and I think we will get better and better before we are really challenged.

This is with A doubt the best team that the small town of Williamsburg has ever fielded. I am so proud of this bunch, Every kid on that team already has 1 State Championship ring. SO they have all been there before.
