Someone, PLEASE, explain to me how Newport Catholic has more tradition than Beechwood. I will take Beechwood's 9 state championships over NCC's 2 anyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
Pikeville also has a LOT more tradition than NCC. So does Danville, Mayfield, and numerous others.
I don't get this one at all. Matter of fact, NCC is middle of the pact--AT BEST.

their not in any particular order hillbilly. these were just 5 teams that came to mind.newcath does have alot of tradition, they won it also in 2a in the 80s. you seem to be my critic, i just named 5 teams that has alot of tradition.

My thread is to get others opinions, give everyone a chance to reply and i wont critique someone for their opinion.

I am not your "critic". I just don't agree with some of the things that you post (and that is part of the fun of this).
I am not real sure how you can say they are not in particular order when you have them numbered 1 to 5.
I am not under the opinion that NCC belongs anywhere on that list. 2 State championships doesn't fit the criteria in a state where there are numerous teams that have at least 2. Also, when you talk about tradition, I am thinking of schools that have been playing football for a LONG time. NCC may not even be 50 years old as a school, where some of these schools have been around for 100 years or more.
Your first few schools were right on the mark, but when you throw NCC into the mix, it doesn't make any sense at all. (IMO). No offense either way.

Hillbilly,
totally off topic, but do you think NCC would have had any titles had Beechwood been 2a through their amazing run?
Also, I agree with you about this thread.

Look at the top ten in all time wins.
750 Male (1893-2004) 750-287-49
736 Highlands (1915-2004) 736-213-26
709 Mayfield (1919-2004) 709-228-32
680 Paducah Tilghman (1904-2004) 680-262-25
655 Danville (1924-2004) 655-202-34
625 Owensboro (1893-2004) 625-332-30
580 Hopkinsville (1905-2004) 580-396-33
579 DuPont Manual (1892-2004) 579-402-37
577 Middlesboro (1921-2004) 577-267-29
576 Ashland Blazer (1919-2004) 576-317-33
575 Somerset (1907-2004) 575-345-43
515 Bardstown (1912-2004) 515-221-16
A lot of tradition on those teams, dating back to the turn of the 20th century. These schools have been getting it done for a long time. I know there are teams that have a lot of championships with a relatively short history in comparison. But in terms of tradition, we need to give credit where it is due.

Great question. I don't know how you will feel about my answer.
Honestly--I think that they would not have had anymore than 2. (From the early 90's). And the more likely number is 1. I think that we were: 1. lucky, 2. A better staff that had the ability to scheme--gameplan better against teams like Bardstown/Harrodsburg, etc.
My thinking here is this--there were some good NCC teams during the early 90's. But they really didn't hit their stride until 2000 (when they changed the offense). If they would have done that earlier--they could have won more than 2.

I can see that...but you might want to include Boyle, and Beachwood...there are so many in the state you could include about 7, or 8 more!

Whatever...PBurg has yet to have any kind of tradition...have they won state yet...uhhh...lets se...NO....so that disqualifies them from haveing any kind of tradition...LOL....PBurg has not had any kind of tradition..the only time they would have even thought of winning state is when they had Jamerson...

Paintsville is not a school known for its football... They beat these little weak teams they play, but let them play a Belfry or a Russell then they will see what tradition is all about...
