Madison Central: 0/0

Belfry: 2/3
Knox Central: 14-100
Johnson Central: 4/81
Tenn school: 14/88
Letcher Central: 8/117
Whitley: 20/245
Pierre Central: 17/117
Bell: 23/142
Lincoln: 19/220
Madison Southern: 11/39

your point is :what: looks pretty good.

Herron knows how to throw the ball, but if its me, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am 4-5 tds better before i step out on the field, I work on what I am the most ucomfortable with. Im just saying, its going to take balance on offense to win the east.

Those numbers show me he is a more productive back when he gets 10-20 carries. I think a majority of Wbrg faithful are underestimating how much better last years other regional finalists from the east are. Williamsburg is better, but imo, not by much. Pikeville is on their level and Raceland is knocking on the door.

Pumped up numbers against the weaker opponents, generally.

They show much he is much more productive against weaker teams.
Pikeville will be more like Belfry, JC, Madison Southern and Greeneville TN than the teams he ran for big yardage on. All premature speculation though.
Could be Hazard and Paintsville in the semifinals.

I felt very strongly last year after winnig the region that Raceland would be playing in Bowling Green. This year, I dont feel that we will be able to even repeat as Region Champs. But I also thought we would have lost to Ashland by 2-3 tds(which i know we should have won the game now), also thought we would get manhandled by Coal Grove(we owned that second half of that game and won), also though Lawrence would give us a tough time but outside of their openig drive, we were the far better team that night. Here's to hoping these Rams keep proving me wrong!!!

I didn't say anything about a wildcat. You are just assuming. We have a totally different offense in hiding than anyone to this point has seen. The thing is, it includes more speed and the field being spread more than ever.

What do you think a wildcat offense consists of? That's probably exactly what you're seeing them do in practice. The wildcat is not an overall philosophy for an offense. Its a good addition to several offensive schemes like a spread offense to keep defenses off balance or even the west coast. Its designed around an unbalanced line with receivers spread out on both sides with a slot usually in motion and a running back receiving the snap. It suppose to look like a straight snap sweep with zone blocking but there are several options that can make it successful when you have beasts blocking for you. Unless you have much more talent at the skill positions at the high school level, a balanced defense with a halfway descent D-line with shut it down pretty quick.

Why couldn't South Carolina shut the Wildcat down? :why:

pjdoug Wrote:Why couldn't South Carolina shut the Wildcat down? :why:

Because their offensive line gave them options. It takes a lot of athletes to be successful at it and you have to have a good offensive coordinator to know when to run it. That's why you see it mainly with teams at the D1 and pro level that have athletic skill players and smart lineman.

Its more difficult to run at the high school level unless you're playing a team that you are overwhelmingly more talented than?

I didn't think Kentucky was overwhelmingly better than South Carolina did you? but the ole ball coach couldn't find an answer for the wildcat.

Yes, in what way? Please explain.

No they weren't but reread what I said? I said at the high school level that is usually the only time it is successful. D1 and the pros have enough athletes on both sides of the ball where it comes down to simple execution. It's not that way in high school. Most offensive lineman don't have proper technique and their not great at blocking schemes with the wildcat. That's why unless you are just overwhelmingly better talent wise, its not going to be consistently successful. Don't get me wrong you could probably run it once or twice a game in a hurry up formation and catch them off guard, but it's not going to be anything where you have a secret scheme that's going to blow people's minds?

I have been around football since I was seven. I know what a wildcat offense is. You guys are fishing. I did not say nor suggest wildcat. I said a totally new offense. Totally different weapons and all. Honestly now that jv is done we can platoon the skill players much like Highlands does. You could see 4 rec come out for a play. After the play is over four more run out. The funny thing is there are about 4-5 that are in the Jordan Tyler range for speed. That's just part of what I'm talking about.
