Does anybody here have this or know someone that does? I have it and it's annoying to deal with. I wouldn't even with this on TRV, Stardust, or even Wide Gut. nicker:

My dad is 73 years old and has gout. Occasionally it gets so bad he has to go to the doctor and get a shot for it.

That's a treatment all right. There's also some meds that you can take every day to ward off an accute attack. Do NOT drink bottled water; it's full of crytals that will add to your problem. Buy distilled water, and drink that instead. There's also a diet that you need to see if you haven't already. It's not a bad diet, just avoid certain "rich" foods, i.e. lobster, shrimp, sweetbreads etc.
Good luck; I hear it's quite painful.

I thought we were talking Hillbilly Granny talk and I was going to say the proper way to say Gout, it Get Out....

Ive had a couple of doctors now tell me that drinking bottled water is bad for you in many ways. They've actually told me not to drink it at all or use plastics in any shape or form.

It's really bad for folks with kidney stones, too.
Silly Stardust doesn't know how to talk hillbilly!! I can reduce a three worded question to one word...Did you eat? Jeet??
Don't mess with me when it comes to hill talk; you ain't gotta chance!!

Got a friend that had it so bad they sent him to the Cleveland Clinic. They put him on a drug called Uloric that controls the uric acid without the side effects other gout meds has and it helped him a lot. And he cannot eat certain things like shellfish, organ meat or drink alcohol either. It looks terrible, God bless anyone that has to deal with it.

Apple Cider Vinegar, check out the link...

Also known to drop bad cholesterol, and prevent spread of poison ivy. I've used it with much success for poison ivy. A friend of mine dropped his cholesterol from 225-150 using ACV.
Good luck and prayers for recovery!

Good for the blood pressure, too. Also, if used with a spoonful of honey made from local hives, it will wipe out most allergies!

Just lazy speech, and I'm guilty of it too sometimes.

This first happened to me recently. I hired a trainer to work out with and he had me doing a lot of jumping, etc. to try to get back in shape. The next day my ankle hurt like crazy - I thought I just sprained it, but by the middle of the day I thought I had potentially broke it. I went to get it checked out, and the X-rays showed no signs of a crack. The doctor thought it might have been gout and he tested my uric acid levels, and sure enough they were up. He gave me some medication to reduce the inflammation and told me that if it were gout, it would likely heal up pretty quick.
By the time I got home, that was when it was at its worst. I could not even touch my foot to the ground. I laid down and propped it up and took my medication. Within a couple of hours, I was back to limping. By the end of the night, it still hurt but I was able to walk decent. By the next morning, I could have jumped on it had I wanted to. That is what is so weird about this - you feel like your ankle is sprained real bad but it usually heals quickly once treatment is applied.
I was always bad to eat red meat - which contributed to this, although my doctor believes it was probably inherited (although my eating did not help). I still fell back earlier and the year and this summer, even having foods like spaghetti, steak, etc. a few times and it did not cause another flare-up. I didn't even work out a great deal during that time. Recently a friend and I started lifting again (although I haven't lifted with my legs much or ran as a precaution because of gout), and I decided to go ahead and make a serious change to my eating habits. Gout will flare up if you do a crash diet like a low carb diet, but I have not done that - I have been eating sensibly. However, it has flared up multiple times since I started working out. Of course, some of them could have been me just being overly cautious when my foot starts feeling tight. However, a couple of the recent flares have caused me to limp.
I do wish I could do what WideStardust mentioned, tell the gout to "get out" and it would obey...wishful thinking.
This isn't a deadly disease or anything, by the way assuming it's treated properly. It is just annoying.

Nice testimony and thank you...whether you know it or not a lot of folks can identify with what you shared....
Check out myfitnesspal.com on the weight loss front. It's a great accountable tool and I've lost 15 pounds in 13 weeks holding "myself" more accountable and "walking." Some of us just need to walk, slow and steady wins the weight battle in my book, smaller portions, and wiser food selection.
If I can do it, you can to!!!

PS...No more soft drinks, more water!!!

Thank you for the encouragement! I have lost 11 pounds so far, looking to cut back and get in shape.
I am taking an entirely different approach this time. Usually I will try a crash diet if I get out of shape, but this time I am using my friends to hold me accountable. I am eating more foods in moderation. There is a local restaurant that we all love that we will go to at the end of each month - IF I meet my goal. So, everybody is staying on me to be accountable and it has worked like a charm. I have been more consistent than ever and have only had one splurge day over the past month, which was the day we went to that restaurant.
Hard as it is for me to believe, I have not had a pop in over two years. I still will have a tea or lemonade from time to time, but have given up pop.

It starts in the big toe on most people, but some get it in their foot (mine is in the foot/ankle area). Alcohol can be one of the leading causes of it. I don't drink, but I make up for that with a lot of red meat, another major cause.

I came to terms a long time ago on the subject of health.
Live healthy, no drinks, no tobacco, no bad foods or sugar-live to see 80
Live unhealthy, drink when I want, chew when I want, reese cup when I want-live to see 70
Give me 70. Long enough.
