#2
Lutheran East comes in at 2-2 with wins over Collinwood 19-2,Whitney Young 50-14, Losses to Oberlin 24-13,Windham 38-20
#3
I say Johnson Central names the score.
#4
In the interest of full disclosure, the team originally scheduled to play at JCHS this week canceled at a late date, leaving Central scrambling to fill the hole in the schedule at the last minute.
#5
Johnson Central - 60

Lutheran East - 14
#6
JC by a bunch. It is amazing they found a team to play.
#7
The Eagles should name the score in this one. Lutheran East is ranked #721 out of 752 teams in the state of Ohio per Calpreps.
#8
Calpreps says:

neutral field
[2014] Johnson Central (Paintsville, KY) 62, [2014] Lutheran East (Cleveland Heights, OH) 0

Ouch

Lutheran East has a power rating of -34.5
In terms of KY teams that compares to: Berea, Owen County, Clinton County, and is even lower than South Floyd.

Knowing how talented the JC JV and Freshman talent is this one could be super ugly. I predict a lot of knees being taken.

JC 69
Lutheran East 6

I know this is a team JC found on short notice, and I am not trolling here, but...
JC's schedule has gotten to the point of being comical every year. They need to take the responsibility of making the schedule away from whoever has been handling it. Seriously. They have 4 district games and play Belfry every year, right? So that means they have to find 5 games to fill their schedule.

I don't want to hear the crap that they can't find teams to play. Many teams year in and year out a lot better than JC manage to play full schedules. I honestly believe JC won't schedule a team they think is better than them. In other words, they would rather win by 60 against a real bad team than possibly lose a game. Come on, there are at least 75 teams in KY who would gladly play JC. Quit the complaining and schedule schools your size or bigger. Again, whoever has been responsible for the JC schedule-making has failed. This is nothing against JC at all, Bob Seger likes them so they have to be OK.....

Send those 75 teams this way. I see JC on the listserv every week looking for games. Also, I coach the middle school program and have struggled for the last two years to get games. We have traveled to Louisville, somerset, Harrodsburg and Richmond just to name a few to fill a schedule.

I am wondering if maybe JC simply needs to let money talk?

I actually agree with them that scheduling KY teams is hard. JC is a powerful, bigger school who run an offense that a lot of larger teams might not even see in the playoffs.
They are also all the way in EKY.

Instead of paying a team to drive 6 hours and get their teeth kicked in for a game your starters play maybe a Half... pay a pretty penny to go on the road. That or offer a 50/50 split of the home gates and concessions.

No flame whatsoever..but an honest question for JC fans.

If it meant getting better competition would you be willing to pay 12.00 per home game for a ticket?

Just thinking out loud but if I were trying to find teams that would benefit seeing JC I would go after any team who thinks they may see Belfry in the Semi's...any team who wants to prepare for DeSales.. teams who have to face Meade County... teams who may see Scott County.. teams who have to deal with John Hardin..and Southern Ohio teams who may see Colerain.

Teams I think that would be good fit, if JC could tempt them to play:
Lafayette
Henry Clay
Bryan Station
Conner
Cooper
Campbell County
Central Hardin
CAL
Bardstown
NewCath
Bullitt East
Russell
Mason County
Cincy LaSalle
Lakota West
Lakota East
Middletown, OH

^I don't even think you have to do all that. That is a very short list. I'll post my list in a minute...

I have to agree with jetpilot ! Somewhere in Ky there has to be a team willing to play for the money they are paying the Ohio teams. You have a few that uphold their schedule right or wrong. Sit in the stands during the games and listen to the fans complain about the weaker teams we are playing. The only good game we have will be Belfry!!!!!!

Hard for me to believe only the crappiest teams in the country reply. This could simply mean JC is scouring the earth for sacrificial lambs. Middle school is a different deal. Coaches have to worry a lot about getting their kids hurt when they play bigger, more powerful teams. So I get that it would be hard for you. But shouldn't be hard for JC at all, especially if they want to play up (which they should want to). Regardless, JC could do like you and go to all those places if they have to.

Look at the list of teams with open games this week and will only play a 9 game season this year. Ironton is open this week and refused to play Johnson Central.
#16
Jc ask several teams to fill the game this week the anwser was no . I would make a list but don't want to start trouble . The only team that wanted to come played 4 mins week 1 and game got cancled and the khsaa would let them play .
#17
Get your schedule filled early and play UP.
#18
Why is JC playing such a bizarre scheduale?? A team from PA and now a team from Cleveland? I know they played Ironton last year why not pick up Wheelersburg to? The burg is an excellent football team who will compete for state title this year in Ohio and has a proud tradition or even Wayne WV?
#19
Here is my schedule or equivalent for JC

4 district games
Scott Co.
Pulaski Co.
N. Laurel
Boyle Co.
Belfry
Lafayette, Bryan Station, Paul Dunbar or Clark Co.
#20
JC has weeks 2 and 3 open next year. Pass the word. Really, everybody pass the word.

Scheduling WV schools is problematic. Teams make their playoffs on a point system, so a WV team will tend to schedule only those opponents they think they can beat. They get 0 points for -any- loss, regardless of how big/good the opponent.

I liked EKU's list, but I'd think sticking with 4A-6A opponents would serve JC better all around. I'd give some thought to a yearly trip toward Jefferson Co. - it's not that far and there are plenty of big school teams: Manual, Male Ballard, Butler, PRP just to name a few.

Don't post or look for games on LISTSERV. Call the above teams and coaches in person and I guarantee you, JC will find some games. Not too many coaches use or looks for games via LISTSERV.
#23
Looking at Johnson Central's remaining schedule, I predict a running clock in every game with the exception of Belfry. This game will be over after the first quarter. Johnson Central wins big, 55-7.

Would really love to see the list of 75. Go ahead and mark Lawrence County, Sheldon Clark, Prestonsburg and Paintsville off the list as not interested and I have not gone 30 minutes in either direction. I really wish some schools would step up and accept a home and away series with the Eagles. I know without mentioning a school but one of the four listed above was offered a three year contract with two at their place and one at Central and the answer was still no.

I'm just glad we got a game for this week......

As has been stated, we want teams that will sign two year contracts. There's absolutely no reason to play a team that won't return the favor and come to EKY. This year's schedule includes Fairland (defending Ohio conference champs, returning all-state honorable mention QB), and teams in the second year of two year contracts that both were expected to be better (Harlan and Perry Co). Mastery Charter North probably had the most raw athletic talent we will see all year. Belfry is a defending state champion. Ashland is in our district, as all Boyd and Greenup and Rowan. We scrambled to find this week's game. As stated, Ironton dropped us for this season. Please also keep in mind we replaced our ENTIRE starting offensive backfield this season, so playing Trinity and Moeller every game is probably not in our best interests this season. Our fans and parents want to be able to see our kids play their fair share game at homes. Perhaps parents at more affluent schools love making five hour road trips to see their kids every week, but for a lot of Johnson Countians, that's just not feasible.

the folks at Ironton don't take too kindly to being beaten. I do wonder why the bell co series ended that was one that made alot of sense on both sides.

You were making sense until the last sentence. Nobody likes to travel and it isn't any more or less feasible for Johnson Countians than anyone else. And don't know where 5 hours came from, plenty of games to be had for much less travel than even half of that.

If Bell Co would sign a home and home, I'd love to see that game happen. I do believe that with the changes in the class coming next season (many teams that are currently possible future playoff opponents either moving up and down) and the talent JC has coming, you'll see some different teams on the schedule (like the home and home w Boyle a few years ago).

I don't believe it's unreasonable to ask a team to come to your field if you're willing to go to theirs. That provides you with a stable two-year scheduling pattern and ensure you have a home schedule you can count on. We've shown we're willing to take a three hour trip to Harlan County for a school that's willing to return the favor. But to be expected to go on the road with no guaranteed return game leaves you in the same position the next season, struggling to fill the home games on your schedule.
