Yes... I know there are more threads about the Apple Bowl than Stardust has posts.
This morning when I woke up (I've been out of school for 11 years now) I couldn't help but remember the feeling of The Apple Bowl week.
JC went 2-2 (wins in '99 & '00) when I was in school.
From burning tackling dummies... egging cars... burning the other teams truck tire.... spray painting the other teams track and stadium. And that's just what I remember from my high school years.
There is something special about an in-county rivalry from two different school systems. You had friends, neighbors and family members that played against each other. The smack talking before the game and years later are still cause for epic trash talking and wounds that never heal.
It's a shame that the players from both JC and Paintsville are missing out this rivalry.
The last Apple Bowl was in 2008 (JC won 55-7) but when Paintsville threw in the towel and stopped playing JC... the All-Tme record stands a 20-16 with Paintsville leading.
However, JC won the last five in a row.
The combined score over the last five Apple Bowl games were... 258-40 in favor of JC. Thats a 51.6 ppg avg. for JC and 8 ppg avg. for Paintsville... with a 218 point spread in JC's favor.

You're saying it's a "shame" this game doesn't go on...with lopsided scores like THAT ?? Oh, from a fan's perspective on JCHS's part, I can see how it's "fun", but there really isn't much constructive to remember for the players - even for the Eagles.

And to you sir.... I say the bolded section is bull crap
I've heard about the 1994 Apple Bowl (JC won 56-12) more times than I can count from some of my neighbors who played that season.
Rivalry games don't make you better and they are not supposed to be constructive!!!!

We'll agree to disagree. Rivalry games CAN make you better and should still be constructive, IMO. The central purpose of non-district regular season games is to "get better" in preparing for district games and the post-season tourney.
