Oh My. I don't know if even I can get behind this one, much as I love my Panthers. And to be fair, I think I would have Prestonsburg at the 5 spot.

These are fluid rankings. Doesnt mean Pikeville will stay there..but right now they have wins over arguably 3 of the Top 7 teams in EKY.

Johnson Central hasn't played anyone that we can even compare to.

I was wondering how this would shake up. I think that's right. If you beat #1 you should be #1.

Good point. And I knew the rankings were fluid, I just think it probably (in my mind) would have been easier to bump them to #1 if they beat Middlesboro, given the first 6 games of the schedule, definitely shows the benefits of playing a hard schedule early in the season because of the weak district. I'm honestly still in shock. Dream results so far.

Wow that had to hurt.

I would go with:
1. JC
2. Pikeville
2a. Belfry
4. Prestonsburg
5. Middlesboro

I have to say I like Jetpilots list myself. JC may not have played anyone to get a good feed on them but they are doing exactly what JC does and that is decimate people.

In all honesty I hope this weeks win gives Pikeville the confidence they need to propel them to BG and I hope Belfry gets their kinks worked out because they have a lot of work to do. We have to remember though, it wasn't until the playoffs started last year that Belfry truly had all their issues worked out. My dream is to see both the 1A and 3A trophies come back to Pike Co. this year.

i think lawrence county will be in top 5 soon!:

Pikeville vs Middlesboro will give us all a better understand of how the Top Mountain teams will all stack up. We will final have a large enough pool of games vs top teams to judge.

Not for Johnson Central unfortunately. It may actually take JC until Week 10 for us to gauge them. Ashland is not a very good team and they are the only school with a pulse left for JC to play between now and Belfry.

My suspicion is this is the same ole tough Johnson Central team we are accustomed to...but right now we can only validate them against bad competition and hypotheticals... Pikeville meanwhile has defeated the previous #1, the team I would say is currently #6, and the team I would say is currently #7.
#11
Uh, no.
#12
I agree with your top 5 100% percent and if you use the Harlan Co comparison and a similar score as knox central you know this is a good team but I agree you cant have them at 1 right now

First off JC not #1

Middlsboro has a decent win over Bell but also a tie in a shortened game with Grant County.

Bell has the blemish with Middleboro.

No Prestonsburg who's only loss is to your #1.

No mention of undefeated Mason or Lawrence.

And if it weren't for 300 yards of water yes Ironton would be. Lol

Any how.

1 JC
2 Pikeville
3 Belfry
4 Prestonsburg
5 Mason County

Others worth mentioning.

Ashland, Bell, Fleming, Lawrence, Middleboro, Pike Central, Raceland, Russell

Good list, other than I don't consider Mason Co. as EKY by any definition.

In all seriousness, this is one of the better honors to PHS. Aside from all the other polls. Feels great to earn this respect! Hopfully PHS can keep its foot on the gas and keep that spot!

Pburg is tough. They are at #6 if I expanded... and very easily could be #4. Would have liked to see them make more of a statement against Pike Central.

Bell has the win over Knox Central. That's a better win than any team Pburg has bested. I am throwing out the lightning shortened game for Mboro to be honest as if it was never even played.

As for Mason and Lawrence...

First of all I think we can all agree Mason is not ahead of Lawrence. Against the same competition in successive weeks it is clear Lawrence was the better team.

My issue with Lawrence County is their two best wins aren't all that impressive.

Fairview just got waxed by Hazard and took LC to the wire.

Breathitt County simply is not very good..they just got crushed by a weak Perry Central team...yet they hang around for 3 Quarters.

Bell's win over Knox Central far surpasses any win Lawrence County has thusfar.
#23
I see Prestonsburg at #4, they could have easily been Pikeville's only loss this season..Alas they were not but regardless I still see them in the low top five.
#24
Mason County and Fleming are tweeners geographically speaking. But then again Middlesboro and Bell may be too.
#25
Bell and Middlesboro are S KY. I mean, are there any teams more south??

Disagree about Mason and Lawrence. I think Masons win over Newport is better than any win Lawrence has.

As for the PBurg win over Central sometimes scores are deceiving.

Russell had over 450 yards of offense compared to just above 200 for Boyd County this week but only won 28-13.

I'm not sold that Knox Central win is that impressive.

It is a better win..Lawrence ahsn't beaten anyone.

But as I said...they played Boyd County and Rowan County back to back.

Lawrence made short work of both teams. Mason had to grind out 4 Quarter wins.

I think you have four teams that could possibly be in bowling green from eastern Kentucky and those have to be your top four. After that its several possibilities, but Middlesboro has earned that fifth spot.

1. JC
2. Pikeville
3. Belfry
4. Prestonsburg
5. Middlesboro

Not so fast my friend. Boyd County hung with the bulldogs for a good bit and actually moved the ball quite well against them without there best player I believe.
