After tonight we have also learned that Beechwood is right there with Mayfield and we better treat them as they are in the lead with homefield advantage this year. Welcome to reality for Panther and Cardinal fans.
This is a long season and a state championship appearance is guaranteed to no one.

jetpilot Wrote:Haha, good one. Always love when people compare scores. Try this one on for size: Pikeville beat Belfry by 9, who beat Henry Clay by 22, who would beat Williamsburg by 69. So Pikeville is 100 pts better than W'burg. Pikeville beating Belfry is huuuuge no matter how much you want to kid yourself. Still say it's Pikeville/Hazard in the semis anyway.
I hate comparing scores because each team has their own strengths/ weaknesses that play into a matchup. With that said your statement makes zero sense compared to his making little sense. He at least compared scores, while you made up scores...

What a joke! Not once did I ever state Newport was going to walk all over the burg, that garbage was left up to you and your merry band of moonshine drinkers. I remember reading "running clock and naming the score and Allstate lineman who would dominate"....get it right. The burg beat a team not ranked in 2a and think they are world beaters....big deal! I hope this was your state championship because you won't get the real one.

Big difference between would and did. Try this one on for size Pineville beat Lynn Camp who would beat Jenkins who would beat Berea who would beat South Western Pulaski who would beat Trinity who would beat UofL who would beat the Packers who will win the Super Bowl. Pineville should be the Super Bowl Champions.

nuclear option what happened to your Newport by 14 prediction? Your prediction was as far off base as the Williamsburg faithfuls.

No my point was you can't compare scores. I could use the actual scores to come up with Pikeville is 100 better than W'burg but don't want to take the time and effort because it's meaningless, which was my point.

It's one thing predicting a realistic score/ expectation, it's another predicting dominance over a team that is not very good and then finding yourself in a fight. 31-22 is not dominance over a team probably not ranked in the top 15 in a class/ school in similar size.

good to see Jefferson Patrick returning to the backfield last night.

J Pat ran down hill and hit the holes in a hurry. He also had a double digit tackle game.

2A is similar size to one of the smallest 1A schools?

It's an east thing man. You will never get them to understand that they are not just gonna bulldoze everyone until they lose that last game. If you try to tell them, they are just gonna tell you that you lack credibility or you are a hater.

exactly what i was going to say.........there were some people saying running clock true......personally i said i would be shocked with one. Knew Newport would be tough on the road. and for nuclear to say that Newport is not good either wasn't there or his planet dont allow football. W'burg played bad in stretches and was fortunate to win. nuclear was the one that started all the talk about the big linemen from Newport. if you dont like the results eat crow and save your napkin till next week.

Nuclear option TRUTH, Newport had great talent, great coaching, hugh line, more speed than I have ever seen in HS football , Great facilities, turf field, every thing and more than any one would expect. TRUTH, they did not beat The orange yellow jackets on their home field, in front of A packed stadium with all their fans after the jackets had traveled almost 4 hours, to meet up with them. TRUTH your program impressed me, Good luck to you the rest of the way, you all are going to be a tough out,

I see where several Pikeville posters and 55 posted that it is very clear now, that Pikeville is clearly on top in the East Who and how was that decided?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug I guess.
Its more that Belfry is not as good as expected more than it is Pikeville being better.
If I were to rank the EKY teams right now, id have both behind Wburg.

is it just me, or is most of the state weak in football this year?

No it is getting more obvious every year. Look at college football lately.

pjdoug Wrote:is it just me, or is most of the state weak in football this year?
Its not just you. The state as a whole is incredibly down this year. A lot of teams are getting blown out and the teams blowing them out are average at best.
"Mountain" football may be the worst ive ever seen it.
If you made a mountain top 10 list, the only dominant team would be Pulaski. Everyone else can be beaten by anyone else in EKY on any given night. You could have a team ranked fifth that might go 5-5 on the year.

I was just thinking how strong Ky football is getting. Look at the BG/McCallie matchup. Look at the McCracken Co/ South Haven, Ms matchup. There are many others I'm sure. We should be proud of what our Ky teams are doing.

You have to look at it from our perspective.
While Western KY football does seem to be on the rise, the traditional strong programs in Eastern Kentucky are really struggling.
Teams like Bell, Breathitt, Corbin, Whitley, Rock, etc. just aren't where they use to be. Some even further away than others. Now, there are some programs that seem to be getting much better like Wburg, Knox Central, North Laurel, etc. but it hasn't been long enough to see if that consistency lasts or not.
