I would also like to say that I was raised hating anything Pikeville, playing against them in the 80's, made it only right. But, I have always respected them and wished them the best and at this moment, a moment of defeat, I still wish them the best and hope to see them hoist the trophy in the end once more. Even in old Pikeville thread I said I would like to see Pikeville get back to the Pikeville of old. Simply because it is good for the entire county and helped make Belfry who they are IMO. I think when Belfry beat Pikeville and ended their long winning streak in '89 it really made Pikeville get hungrier and more focused and ultimately helped Pikeville win their 3rd straight title that year. I can see this loss helping Belfry in the same way.

It's just the truth that a lot of Belfry fans won't admit to. I've played in the system and watched it for the better part of my 30 years of life and to be quite honest IT IS WHAT IT IS as long as he is the coach. But to counteract my own point we know what we are getting year in and year out there is not turnover with staff and play style.

As a Panther fan who lives on Pond Creek this is a sweet win. Having said that I hope Belfry and Pikeville both advance to BG and bring 2 state titles home to Pikeville. Belfry is hands down the best program in EKY and ending the streak was huge. Go Panthers! Go Pirates!

You can't be the best until you beat the best and Pikeville has done that. So I think absolutely pikeville is the best team in the mountains regardless of class. If belfry can refocus and win a state title and pikeville doesn't then that changes, but as of right now pikeville should be #1. No question

If belfry can refocus and win a state title and pikeville doesn't then that changes, but as of right now pikeville should be #1. No question

They are NOT a mountain school. On the other point, I've not seen them play, so I don't know if the would blow out any other EKY team. Belfry is very good, Johnson Central is very good, etc. it's all about match ups anyway.

Like was said earlier by another poster, it's nice to be able to hate Pikeville again. A lot of the younger kids can't understand the rivalry and what is meant for so many years, it's been good to give them a taste of theI hate losing but if it means keeping what I think is the best overall rivalry east of Lexington alive, then so be it. Congrats on the W we will see you at the CAM next year and hopefully far into the future as well.

A few people said that Belfry was flat, is that true. I think that Pikeville is a threat to go to Bowling Green in 1a, but I just don't understand this game.
Belfry flat wore every team to this point out like a very good 6a Henry Clay.
One would think that a championship caliber 3a team would beat a 1a team even if they are a 1a championship team by at least 2 scores even on a bad night. Has the gap in the Mountain classes started to close some. You got Pikeville beating Belfry and Middlesboro beating Bell and...............what the heck is going on.:insane: Congrats to Pikeville and I think the game of the year in the mountains will be when Pikeville and Williamsburg clash. I don't believe for 1 second that this is the same Belfry team who came into this game undefeated.

I honestly thought that for the East championship that the road to Williamsburg went through Hazard.
