Good road win...GO Williamsburg :Cheerlead

Burg played terrible. 18 penalties. All earned. Newport played with a chip on the shoulder. Good team who plays hard.

This is exactly what the burg needed. They got better learning tonight than they could in the 9 blowout games on their schedule. Pikeville impressed tonight.

J Patrick had a very good game tonight. Both sides of the ball. Looked like Jefferson of last couple of years. Flew to the ball on D.

congrats to the Jackets on the win.

Sloppy game. In the end the burg got the w, good for them. I don't know if it's something to be proud of because right now we are not a good team. Athletic yes, team ....I don't know. We scored 22 points on a team that is suppose to be lights out and win by at least 5 td 's, you gotta be kidding. The burg won but to say they are world beaters is a work in progress. Good luck the rest of the season .

Newport did a really good job of keeping Wburgs offense off the field.
09-20-2014, 05:24 AM
A lot closer than I expected.

Ah, horse shit. Had Newport beat them youd be raising hell right now.
Back of the line. Just another game on Williamsburgs calendar. Long bus ride and still beat a team who a lot of you Northerners said could beat Wburg with ease.

Congrats jackets on a big win!!!
Good job on going up north and beating some butt!! Way to tropes me the mountains!!!!

a lot changed tonight, Pikeville is the favorite to win the east after tonight
09-20-2014, 05:33 AM
Burg beat a team that is not very good. Have fun with second place if you even get that far
09-20-2014, 05:45 AM
burg play calling was terrible tonight, where was Massey?
09-20-2014, 05:48 AM
Wow really??? In all reality call a duck a duck Newport got a lot of field advantage in calls not because they got it themselves!! Blatant holding calls and 1 questionable person fouls not going in Burgs favor. Price is the best player on Newports team by far, without him Newport will be in trouble.

Nothing change after tonight Williamsburg won......Hazard won ....Pikeville won...And Williamsburg is coming my only advise to the Williamsburg coaching staff is with a 1.24 remaining in the game is you run the clock out...Not pass 3 incomplete passes...And give the ball back over to Newport with 54 second...Tough love to the coaching staff. eriously: Now I'm in trouble 64SUR.

:lame:
Dude...just be glad for the win and move on. I'm NOT a Newport fan, but the preview thread had "running clock" and "win by as many as they want" all over it.
Belfry learned tonight NO TEAM is unbeatable on a given night. Will it take an upset loss for "the burg" to learn that fact, too ?
09-20-2014, 06:23 AM
Burg should have got a wake up call tonight . The majority of their penalties were lack of focus . They were lucky to win against a very good and gritty Newport team.

Haha, good one. Always love when people compare scores. Try this one on for size: Pikeville beat Belfry by 9, who beat Henry Clay by 22, who would beat Williamsburg by 69. So Pikeville is 100 pts better than W'burg. Pikeville beating Belfry is huuuuge no matter how much you want to kid yourself. Still say it's Pikeville/Hazard in the semis anyway.

After tonight , we have established that Pikeville is firmly the tops in 1a east. Now, if the burg works they may be able to change that. There is a blue and gold hurdle in the way though. Welcome to reality jacket fans.
After tonight we have also learned that Beechwood is right there with Mayfield and we better treat them as they are in the lead with homefield advantage this year. Welcome to reality for Panther and Cardinal fans.
This is a long season and a state championship appearance is guaranteed to no one.

I think the chirping will change.

A win is A win Better team than I expected, Well coached with speed everywhere, Good luck to Newport, they are going to beat A bunch of teams.

This was good for Williamsburg,

Turnovers and penalties really hurt the Burg in this one. Defensively jumped off sides at least 10 times. Offensively illegal motion several times. The officials were not going to call holding against either team tonight, but Williamsburg lost their composer when they felt they should have got the call.
09-20-2014, 09:23 AM
As of right now I still think Mayfield is a little better than the rest. But Beechwood is not on Mayfields level just yet. But I do think Pikeville, Williamsburg, Beechwood, Frankfort, Hazard and Raceland are all on the same page.
