Shelby Cty 15 Ryle 13 Final
#1
Ryle left 18 PTs on the field here-

Didnt line up right on a long Td run- called back

Missed easy field goal

1st and 6 and you throw 3 times???

Missed field goal

Embarrassed at home.

I am going to p*** a lot of ppl off here but I'm going to say again Warner's offense we'd be 3-2 not 1-4.

If you don't like it tell me when this OC is showing up cuz I haven't seen him.

I take nothing away from our D they played great for as much as Shelby had the ball. Special Teams played great, The OLine had a solid game.

Play calling lost this game. He should of stood up and said that at the end of the game instead of passing blame on the kids for missed opportunities.
#3
Gotta agree, this offensive system is brutal to watch. Hope these 2 offensive geniuses look long and hard in the mirror and own it. The boys do deserve better. I agree we we would be 3-2 and sycamore wouldn't have been a rout. D coach is gonna have to keep his boys up.
#4
I have to agree TNT. I have never seen a more dysfunctional ineffective offensive scheme. The kids are clearly not bought in to this system and it does not seem to fit them. Something needs to change and quick. The ship has a titanic sized hull breach!
#5
Congrats to SC

I have watched football for years. Have seen a lot of bad games but I have never seen such bad play calling in my life. Please tell me why your leading rusher from last year does not run the ball at all? I am not taking anything away from #7 or #35; they had a good game but you have 5 or 6 boys who can run it. Why not mix it up?
#7
The play calling on offense is a nightmare. Decision making by the offensive staff is quite puzzling from the calls to the personnel. I hope the boys stay positive and keep fighting.
#8
Mmmmmm. I think I have read this before.

Everyone griped when Ryle ran the ball, but now they hire a guy who throws the ball 70% of the time, which leads to the defense being on the field all night and if you are not scoring, it makes it tough. Feel for the group of kids. They are a good group but some of the parents who cried and moaned to get Warner out might be rethinking their awful ways. The thing that bothers me that I hear this new group of coaches don't want to own any of the problems and blame the kids. It is the coaches job to evaluate the talent and put them in the best scheme possible to give them a chance to be successful. The good thing is the defense plays hard, and until now this has been just 5 scrimmages, the real season starts next week. Best of luck the rest of the way. I have watched so many coaches try to push this offense when they don't have the right personnel to run it, and if they are calling a game when you throw the ball 3 times from the 6 I am not sure the kids should be to blame. Keep your heads up Raiders
#10
They asked for it now they have it.
#11
I think they bought in but when you can't throw a simple screen or u stair down the receiver u throw to its tough. The slant #16 ran he was wide open and easily could have picked up big yards and out of bounds. He was open by 10 yards? Kind of curious if coach was thinking we were going to have an easy game?

I do not believe the kids are at fault for the travesty I saw last night at all. These kids are talented. The offense does not fit the personnel. Could the offense work, yes but only if you could recruit the personnel to run it. This team is built to play power football. Match a lineman on a lineman and tell the back where the hole should be. Run the ball effectively then you can pass. Sometimes coaches, parents get caught up in the show and loose sight of the objective- win the game!

Ryle probably had a 2 to 1 run to pass ratio last night. They didn't throw 4 times from the 6. It was twice, and one was a bootleg where the QB had a run option. I'm not saying you don't have some valid points, but don't make stuff up that didn't happen.

Be careful, many of the runs were actually scrambles by the QB. In addition the runs were extremely predictable. In fact they looked like they were running the same running play nearly every time. Not one time in the red zone did this coaching staff put their team in a power formation and establish the run game. Most of the pass attempts appeared to be deep balls rather than quick reads. Everything they run looks like it's designed to be a home run play. Not every play will score but every play should be part of an over- all scheme. The play calling looked disjointed, and was clearly ineffective.
#15
Not true. I wish I had film of the game. My memory isn't what it used to be but what your saying is simply not true. They threw very few deep balls, it was mostly short stuff. And most sprint out plays are designed runs as much as passes. Just because you make it up in your head and type it doesn't make you right.
#16
Don't disagree but when we don't have the ability to keep defenses honest with even the easiest pass routes running isn't as easy.

With our QBs we should be no less than 4 to 1. I watch a lot of practice and we can't throw on ourselves, running screens and bubble routes with no pressure should be easy completions. Not so much, most. That game should have been over at halftime!

Either way the nice swing passes to England & Burch in the 1st qtr were never ran again... They had open Fade routes all night that no one seemed to think was reasonable to call. If he cant throw them bench him for someone that can.

You have one of the biggest lines I have seen in the 10 years I've watched football at Ryle put Cuzick or Bateman back there and play power football. England has ran better the past two weeks but still plays as a receiver so if you don't have kids running the right routes put him on one side and Arnwine on the other and throw to them all day.

A 3-1 or 4-1 ratio is what this teams built for, I understand that it takes time to learn a new offense but if you put lipstick on a pig its still a pig.

The only chance we have of beating SK is to play power football and control the clock. I do believe our Defense will play well as they have all year but our Offense can't continue to give opposing teams unbelievable field position.

4-5 years of developmental football running Owen Hauk offense and you are expecting kids to grasp completely new offensive scheme and develop the new skills necessary to execute it in a single off season? 1st things first. You have to start throwing the ball at developmental levels, then you will see the fruit of that work in a couple of years. This does not happen over night.
#20
Here's something no one seems to come out and say.....QB needs to be addressed ASAP. Not all his fault but has proven he cannot play at this level. Can't go through progressions, put the ball in a place to make plays.... And so on. Our HC is a career QB coach and while I'd like to say things look better, not so much. Several programs have young QBs starting and I believe one of our 2 backups need to start taking reps immediately. I don't think offensively we can get worse unless the play calling continues to suck.

I make mistakes like everyone does but this is not one of those days. Stop by the field house and the coaches will tell you that we ran the wrong running plays at the wrong time to be effective against that team (the film never lies). We also held the ball waiting on deep routes to come open or were forced out of the pocket because 1 person missed a line block (different person each time with a few exceptions). We ran two swing passes and never came back to them. We did not throw a single ball to a tight end crossing. Oh by the way the linebacker that should be covering him (tight end) was blitzing. We never got in a two back set even on the two point conversions. We allowed a fake punt on the 37 yard line. We missed two field goals and played uninspired in the second half against what could be labeled a bad peewee football team. All we can do is get better this week and look forward. Good luck Raiders I know this week will be tough but what does not kill you will make you stronger.

Then don't make whole sale changes. Phase the new system in with what the kids can do now. Who cares what scheme you like- what can the kids do- after all they are the ones on the field trying to execute.

I agree completely, you phase a system in with the talent you have. We do have some talented young men on this team. Game planning is horrible, while mistakes do happen with blown assignments, wrong routes, missed blocks,...coaches still need to admit to some horrible play calling. Anyone that believes coaches shouldn't step up and own that is tailgating to hard. Their job is to set up the boys for success and with our line and stable of healthy backs we should be pounding the ball. Side note is Woolf injured ? Plays D and special teams, why no touches on O ? Led rushing last year and don't recall him taking a loss running the ball. Pound the ball and try to establish some short to medium range routes once the ground game is going. Missed field goals should never have come into play, should have won by 30. Certainly hope QB and play calling gets a lot of attention this week. This is gonna be a tough week for sure. Let's givem he'll this week boys. Can't working

You are way off. the kids that are junior, sophomores and Freshman have all ran a passing style of offense. Tanner Morgan and Josh Davis who are no longer at Ryle were the QB's and they threw it quite a bit in the Union Raiders development system. It was NOT Owen Hauck ball. The JV in 2011 and 2012 threw it quite a bit as well, this was all while Warner was head coach. They have kids who have the skill set to running a passing offense, apparently the QB issue needs to be address and I can say for sure that the WR DO NOT win at the top of their routes and that makes it difficult and I say their best running back on the team is Ryan Woolf, go look at the film and watch when he runs the ball. The O-line is made to power people but it will take time to learn all the facets of the TFS, but the talent is there to win now. Maybe not against Scott Co. or Sycamore but definitely against the rest of their schedule.

We're we at the same game? You do realize they ran that play multiple times in the second half. The other team finally decided to cover it.

watch the film they are different plays. its ran three times each only once stopped for negative gain.

I agree with above but I've said it for two seasons QB is major issue.

Why would you not take the aspects of the game that worked last year and mix it with the new talent from this year? Currently, the offensive play calling is too predictable and we are not getting anywhere. Last year, Wolf had over 100 yards against a few teams I think Shelby Boone & another. It doesn't make sense not to use him on offense. He is a huge asset on defense, but offensively there needs to be some changes. England had a great run last night but the kid has good hands too and if he is a receiver I don't see anyone touching him. Kusack needs to be utilized more as well. Everyone keeps talking about the young talent but we hear it over & over and it still is not transferring it varsity even with a new coach. We don't have a D1 QB but we are trying to run a system that requires that skill set. He is doing the best he can & just because someone can do it Saturday morning does not mean they can pull it off Friday night. We don't have 2 years to play better and start winning. Find what works with this group of athletes and make it work. I hope the boys come ready to play Friday & things start turning around.
#28
Team needs to focus on Districts and they need to practice pounding the ball this week vs SK. The only hope will be ball control and then compliment the run with a few passes.

They need to install a good 2 back set this week (bring back BUFFALO) and I'd like to see more option as Rytlewski did look good running Friday. Liked the pass fakes but once you cross that line he should keep that ball tucked to avoid injury and turnover.

Get a set with Woolf, Jarvis or Bateman in there and have Brownell or Meiman play the FB.

I would love to see power football, if we play power football any of the QBs can hand the ball off. Problem is the one throwing now can't make a read or decision at this level if we're asking him to throw the ball, so what would be the hurt in having next in line get a fair shot. Not 1 or 2 plays. I think the TEAM deserves to see what the alternative could do. What's the harm? Curious how many people saw the boys faces walking off the field last night? Looking and talking to several of them, frustration is there and this week isn't going to help. Hope defensive unit and coaches stay up while the HC and OC figure something that works to put points on the board. Good luck boys

I agree we should run with a fullback. We should run to set up some play action passes. But as far as the RB #7, he is the most explosive back you have. no-one makes those runs against Conner and no one else can take it to the house from 70 out. Sorry to hurt your feelings but it's true. You want a back #36 who ran all last year and had how many yards? He's a good short yardage back but he's not your feature back. WHY don't you take one of your fastest and most elusive players #7 and bench or not give him the ball because we couldn't block 44 or 78 all night. What's the real issue with him? I smell something funny in the coffee. You guys are always on his **S. He tore it up as a freshman and will in varsity too. shut up. Get a Qb who can read and throw and your problems are solved. Get a receiver coach to teach them how to run routes and we will win. Your problem isn't who's carrying the ball. #7 and #35 can get it done. Sorry your kids aren't getting their fair share. If you are coaches and going against the grain do the team a favor and quit.
