Scott County showed why they are state champs.
Ryle's D was non existent at points in the game and looked tired. Also might want to do some tackling drills this week.
Ryle's offensive line had a relatively good game I thought and the Wideouts looked good.
Too big problems for Ryle O.
-No QB
-Run game was terrible
Scott County reserves saw a lot of time tonight.
Ryle should not get down though. They played the defending Champs, take the positives build off of this game and prepare for Sycamore next week. All this will help them in Districts as no one in NKY is as Fast as this Scott County team.

Don't think Ryles 4th quarter stats should be posted as if there was a bright spot against JV squad. End of the day it was ugly as expected. Let's move on. Any thoughts as to why England didn't play in the first half?

Defending the title.

Really don't know why he didn't play I thought it was interesting he didn't really play till the very end. And I really was disappointed with the way Engler handled the lose but he is a first time Head Coach. I look forward to Sycamore next week they aren't as good as last year but do have a lot of D-1 talent.
Biggest threats they have is there all star CB and the new JR RB that runs a true 4.4

Reaggrivated his groin, don't know why the training staff
Let him sit till halftime to work on it? Would think that you would be a little more
active in getting a player back on the field, not them him just pace the sideline for a half .

The trainers don't hold players out. The players say they are hurt & can't play.

You are spot on! Trainers have no power unless the kids give it to them. I had an old coach who would always tell us that injured kids play and hurt players sit. When injured players sit its because their mind is not strong enough to keep their body in check. This is year three that Ryle has had injuries to key players. The first two years we blamed Warner and contact- maybe it's time we placed the blame where it belongs. If you don't prepare to play this physical game you will find yourself on the sidelines week in and week out.

He asked them to re-tape it when he first came out, that the tape was loose and not tight enough to hold that muscle in check. He was told to wait till halftime. The trainer said he couldn't leave the field? It got re-taped at halftime and he came back in. That's from the horses mouth. Think you guys are wrong on this one.
09-01-2014, 07:31 PM
If he re-aggravated it that badly that he could not stay on the field, he had a miraculous recovery by the 4th quarter. A tape job does not make that much of a difference.
09-01-2014, 08:19 PM
Groin, hamstring, tape job, precautionary.........Seriously. Might be time for you, trainer, and coaches to sit and figure out which STORY gets him on the field with his teammates on Friday nights. Hate to see another wasted week of opportunity go by. Would be nice to see him practice full week and play at sycamore Friday. Good luck

last thing I'm going to say about this. If your not in another persons body you have no idea what they feel. I've had bad pulls that when compressed correctly allow you to use it so what ever your eluding to just say it and stop beating around the bush. I'm sure that he wants to be on the field. Did you feel the same about Bateman, Jarvis, and Mcgregor - who's out all season maybe forever, all the seniors that fell last year? How about when Belk, Rytlewski, and their concussions last year? Weren't they tough enough to come back sooner? Yeah, don't judge them differently. Players get injured and I believe he is trying to play through his. I have high hopes for this team. Wish they were healthy but injured is injured and some you can play through some you can't. If your a running back and your leg isn't working how the heck can you go? Miraculous recovery? Read the post he wanted to get get re-taped immediately and the trainer said no. A good tape job can help. Be careful getting off your high horses and remember your talking about 16-18 yr olds. What o See, he practiced all week. When he get's healthy you'll see what his staff see's in him. Be a critic if you want, I prefer to help and support. I see talent, the staff sees talent, the recruiters see talent. What the heck are you seeing. I'm disappointed the kid has not been on the field. Not to the point of calling him a faker like you are. You should be ashamed.

Couldn't agree more about last years seniors. I don't think you can put concussions in the same category as any other injury, out of kids hands. QB needs his legs and has been running with a sprained MCL all season. Truly believe our trainer is way to cautious more often than not, you may have to take that decision away from the trainer. Yes injuries are a part of this game for sure and unavoidable. My apologies, I see you rip on his teammates for bad play and their flaws and when another player isn't out there its hard to read. I totally agree they are still kids and wish nothing but the best for yours and the rest of the team. End of discussion GO RAIDERS !.

I would hope that no one is calling him a faker but rather questioning his ability to play through pain. That is a component of and individuals character that all college coaches are looking for in a recruit. Clearly something is bothering the young man. Everyone keeps throwing out the term talented I would rather use the term potential because unfortunately for two years we have seen very little. I believe that much of the issue is that their is a perception of talent which leads to a privileged mind set- I don't have to do everything that everyone else does because I have talent. That is very dangerous especially for a potential college recruit. The best thing he and all the injured/ hurt players can do is get back on the field and stay away from the trainer.

Let me also be clear that it's not the player with the issue but the people around the player telling him how great he is. The few times I have met him he was pleasant and exemplary.

I agree that potential is talent unrealized. I know this kids family, we go to church together, and I can guarantee you he is not being blown up by them. I know he is being told and understands how important it is to be on the field, be humble, and what's at stake. I simply believe it's a leg injury that he is trying to play through. Maybe he's pushing it before it's ready. Maybe the blowhards would have preferred he didn't even try. I just don't understand all the negativity about ONE kid on a team. Looks like there are a host of problems on this team to me. We'll get better. And I have watch our trainer tell kids he wasn't going to tape their sprained ankles so they will get stronger? I would think reinforcing them would help. I'm not a trainer, but wow. My staff in high school and college was much more attentive than what we have now. They were so much better at helping kids stay on the field and play or recover. Seems like the answer from them now is ok, sit, see the doctors tomorrow.

Saw the England kid at a camp this summer...I intentionally spoke to him because of all the hype he has been getting across the board and wanted to see what he was about. He was a very nice kid, worked hard at the camp and competed...no attitude. I hope the kid has a great year, is not reading this stuff, and gets healthy so he can enjoy his senior year and have fun!

Couldn't have said it better! He's only a Junior so he still has some time to grow and develop. He is a good kid and so is his younger brother. Both have a lot of potential and upside hope they do well in football and life.

I believe this kid has all the potential in the world, but he has to be on the field. Can't disappear when the one's are on the field and play all world against the two group. Eventually enough is enough and Ryle has to move on to other options. There are plenty of kids there willing to strap it up when they are not 100%. It might be time to move on to other options and stop all this D1 talk. Let's go with the kids we have and focus on winning some football games!!!

Hopefully, at some point, the leading rusher(Woolf) from last year's team will get more touches on the ball. I know he's working hard on defense, but he's a great team leader and might be able to give the offense some spark. He'd be a great example for the younger student athletes on the team to look up to on both sides of the ball.

100 % agree, Ryan Woolf is the best runner they have.. I thought that all week going into the game. Also had a great catch and run during the game. This team has a lot of talent and maybe by utilizing Ryan more on offense his leadership could give them a lift they need. He is great on defense and although I think you should try to platoon as much as possible he could be uplifting to the offense and whole team

It would be great if tis team could have some nastiness on it. That's what I'd love to see in a leader. This school seams to be full of passive competitors without that one or two silent leaders that just lay the hammer down and make teams think about them and where they are. What ever happened to kids being thrown in the ring and earning a chance to play by that physical nature of a violent sport. Watch a practice or game and see how few kids really attack the ball. I know practice rules have changed but dang, gotta toughen up. Just because billy finished first running isn't earning anything. Let's get back to football and hit someone again and again til they don't want the ball anymore. Please lord make the receivers catch the easy balls and QB not hold the ball all day and be more accurate. If that we're to happen we might just be able to keep the defense off the field ever minute and a half. Wow that's some big what ifs. You can do it boys, Let's Go!

Fear The Nation you are right that England is a great kid. Every time I have been around the kid he has been an outstanding young man, yes sir- no sir. His parents should be very proud of that. As for the potential he falls in with the other 90% of Ryle players and parents. Highlight film first, TEAM second. Every great athlete I have been around was always TEAM first. If they broke a rushing record and the TEAM lost, they didn't want to talk about it. But most Ryle players don't know what a TEAM is. If I was going to war or a street fight there is only 4 or 5 players I would want with me. The ones that would do what they need to do to have my back and fight til we walk out together or lie there together for dead. That is a TEAM and what Ryle is missing. Recently while watching one of the younger Raider teams I thought I was seeing things when I watched a fullback blow a hole open you could drive a truck through and the back danced and went outside. Sound familiar. I better stop now that's another rant.

If Ryan is the best running back, they need to find a way to get him there. There are some seniors on this team that have only won five ballgames in the last two years. The honeymoon period and the excuse of the new system is crap. It is time to play the kids in the correct positions and win some ballgames. There is way too much talent at Ryle not to win. My fear is these kids have lost so many ballgames, they do not know how to win. If we are going to pass the ball 70% of the time, please make it short stuff. It appears that every route we have is down field and that does not work with our kids.
09-04-2014, 01:48 AM
The time to win is now, not next year!!!! How about we put all of the D1 talk to the side and focus on winning the next football game!!
09-04-2014, 03:43 AM
we cant complete 70% in practice without a defense. You are right about the short stuff, with little speed at receiver and holding the ball until the receivers are covered we better keep those balls inside 10 yards. It sure has been a rough 2 years for the seniors, but I'm not to sure the new coach is overly concerned about the short term. Perhaps we should evaluate the talent before we try and be the AIR Raiders and play within ourselves. maybe this week the O coordinator has got all the bad calls out of his bag and sent them home to Scott County to be forgotten. Keep pushing boys. good luck
09-04-2014, 03:53 AM
I agree we don't have downfield receivers and for sure need to run the underneath routes, anything within 10 -15 yards. woolf definately needs his touches but way more is in need of fixing or he is going to have 8 men in the box making it tough to run. I heard the offense was a little crisper in practice today, so lets hope that follows to the game field. Lets start the season Friday night!!
