Class 1a Rankings - BGR Fans Poll
#1
Let's hear it. How'd you rank 'em after 1 week? Get your votes in by wed at 6:00 and I'll compile them and put the combined rankings out later wed night. I'll start:

1) Mayfield
2) Frankfort
3) Beechwood
4) Williamsburg
5) Pikeville
6) Raceland
7) Hazard
8) Russellville
9) Paintsville
10) Paris
#2
Even with Raceland's dominance vs East Carter, I think its premature to put them over Hazard. But I think them Hazard and Pikeville may be interchangable at this point.

I think 1 is clear but, u can break down the other 9 in to 3 way ties. Its the most balance I have seen in any class in some time.

Did the kid that transferred from Johnson Central to Paintsville get hurt? I thought I read that somewhere. If so, is he out for the year or just a few weeks?
#7
They lost their original #1 rb to a torn labrum or acl injury for the season. The JC tranfer broke his hand in a non-football related injury, but is due back week 3 i think. Paintsville sill be competitive, they hae some size upfront, but imo, tey are still a few years away from being a real contender for their district. Damien Belcher(JC Transfer) is a stud, but will really be all they have. Kash Daniel is a legit D1 SIZE qb, i just dont think hehas the recieving core to make him a real threat to throw alot. I do think Paintsville is headed in the right direction though. Their numbers aren't like Raceland's either. Raceland can go 2 deep at almost every position without much drop off. So can Pikeville, Hazard, and Wburg.

Belcher played in the scrimmage at Betsy Lane and was a beast on both sides of the ball according to three different people that saw the game. He will be ready week one at Morgan Co. If Phelps were healthy this team would be dangerous but the Tigers have minimal depth.

Who does Daniel have as WR options? I know his older bro graduated, Phelps looked to be a primary target if he and Belcher were both in te backfield. No othr returning names standout outside of Daniel and Belcher.

Charles was the only name I've heard that is consistent but he had appendix surgery. Who knows how long that takes to recover from.

FYI, it is one of those scores that is easy to overlook but Bellevue got smoked 40-0 by a pretty weak Walton-Verona team.

Yeah, once you start getting past the top 5 in class a it's just hard to find teams to put in there.

1A is especially tough... typically there are about 8 teams that will seemingly always be around 1-8... then in most years teams 9-17 are going to be about equal.

Wow, I think you are way under rating Beechwood. I expect them to be our toughest 1a challenge again this year.

OK. I was just going by maxpreps ratings. Too early to make accurate ratings. Maybe week 5-6.

Agree Raceland is too high at 5. Im lost, however, by the bull/back argument.
