They are not a team that I follow. So they lost to JC and JC turned around and lost the next day. WOW not like you advance futher. Will Collins be staying in 4A, I thought I remembered reading that they were going to be changing classes?

Just in case anybody has forgotten.... my name is Alex Green.
So when people start talking about what that crazy member named Pulp Fiction on BGR posts, you can refer to me by my real name.
Heck, if QQ or Dusty would let me, I would change my screen name to my real name. Every season my name gets thrown around like a cheap frisby in a doggy park. No matter what I post or say on here, there is always one or two people that run straight to the coaching staff and tell them what I said on here like I'm giving up national security secrets.
Some people need to grow up... if all they have to do is be my personal moderator on an internet discussion board, they really have no life.
I'm proud of my high school & I'm proud to see kids that I've watched grow up in our county school system excel in athletics.
I'm not gonna let anybody get on here and bash our players, coaches, fans or anybody associated with JC. I know JC has a lot of haters... and that's part of it. Most of you know I post in the Religion/Spirituality thread. And when I post in that forum.... all my posts are serious. But when it comes to sports... I will talk a little trash. It makes life fun. It makes the games more emjoyable.
And by the way.... I'm not gonna post something on here that I wouldn't say to anybody else. So feel free to keep letting the world know what I'm posting. I think I'm gonna start just making stuff up to see how fast it gets back to me.

Having haters is usually for 1 or 2 reasons; 1). you have a good program and have beaten a lot of teams, 2). You have a coach that has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. In JC's case I think it is a little bit of both. It is not such a bad thing to have haters, you have to worry when they stop talking about you.

Yeah, that's it, play stupid on it husker....You know dang well that Coldstream is the UK hog farm. That's where you report daily, I figure...You with all that NeeBraska experience and all, makes you a definite natural. But I would say that it may be a real possibility that you probably don't even know where you go to each day unless you ask someone who's there with you..

To hear you tell it you coach just about all of the Lexington hotshots on the summer travel team, so don't play stupid on that either...Or perhaps you just lied about all of that...That's probably a real distinct possibility, and more than likely the way it is.
I would say knocking off the #1 team in the that state in dominating fashion and then losing to the #3 team in the state the next game when St X had to come from behind to win is a pretty good showing against the eventual state champs....Waaaay better than your squad could muster, wasn't it!!!....hahaha... If you've been involved with these kids, I would venture to say then it's probably all due to poor coaching and extreme sour grapes on your part, anyways....Still no congrats, I see...Says a whole lot about your character....But that's the type a guy I figured you to be all along. You know, one of those arrogant know it all prima donna pretty boys, that constantly runs his mouth about anything and everything, while not knowing half of what he's even talking about. Gottcha pegged don't I?....lol
You are exactly the type guy I'm referring to or you wouldn't even reply to this stuff, but you with that giant ego, just cant leave it alone....Guys like you are just sooo predictable. Once again you prove my point.

Ok I'm probably going to get bashed by the JC faithful. But I have a question I would like to ask and get cleared up once and for all. The rumor I keep hearing about JC is that there has been several players year in and year out held back in middle school for football. Thus allowing an older continuity of players, which eventually leads to older 18-19 yr. old players by the time they are seniors. I realize that KHSAA is taking over middle school football so this will not happen next year. But has this happened at often as people have said at JC? If so how many players in the past 4 seasons have been held back in middle school. Again before anyone bashes me, this is mainly info. that I have heard from coaches. I'm just a curious eastern ky football fan.

What is the difference between holding a child back in middle school, or grade school? Regardless of what age or grade they are in, when they get held back, when they are seniors, they are still going to be the same 18 or 19year old kid.

I challenge you to name an eastern ky school without a "holdback". Why single out JC?
08-12-2014, 09:27 AM
I knew this was going to possibly get ugly. So I will attempt to explain my question again. I have heard that JC has more than one or two that get held back for football. In fact one coach told me that JC had several from one class that were held back and that it was an on going affair from year to year. It was encouraged from coaches to hold back several at a time. Whether in grade school or middle school. But predominately in middle school. So I was curious if this was true and if so how many kids that play football for JCHS in the past 4 years have been held back. If anyone has that number it may clear up the rumor mill.

That is exactly right....For that matter don't even start your kid in school till they are almost 7 and you get the same thing, yet nobody will say a word about that.....A 19 year old when they graduate is a 19 year old is a 19 year old is a 19 year old...There is a common legal age that applies to every single player and every single school in the state of Kentucky as far as eligibility goes...It does make a good excuse to those who cant measure up talent wise though and want to blame it on everything else in the world except their own inability to develop players.

Not in the business of trying to make excuses for anybody. Just asked a simple question if anyone knew if this was true and if so how many in the past 4 yrs. However wouldn't you agree if I were to have a holdback program where a majority of my players would have been in college by 18 or 19 be somewhat more advantageous than a team that didn't have a large number of football players held back. Please respond if you have a number of players that have been held back in the past 4 to 5 yrs. at JC. Thank you

You are right. A program with a senior class that consists of eighteen and nineteen year old kids, should have an advantage over other schools. With that being said, every parent has the oppurtunity to hold their child back, and if the parents at Johnson Central decide to hold their children back, then so be it. Not only does holding a child back benefit them athletically, it also benefits them academically. I don't have a dog in this fight, but the last time I checked, Johnson Central is a top tier school in the state of Kentucky for academics.

Go worry about what your own school is doing and leave ours alone!
08-12-2014, 12:02 PM
I couldn't agree with you more. However my question is this. Is it something that is done with several kids every year being held back just for football? Or is this merely a rumor. Either way can someone tell us how many football players were held back in the past 4 to 5 seasons at JC. Again I'm just a third party here, but what is being said sounds very unethical if a coaching staff is in fact convincing several parents annually to hold back their child just so that they continue with a great football program. Any numbers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Also, for the record probably 90 percent of the hold back in Johnson county occur prior to grade 5.

JC has always been a school were if a player couldn't make the grades they didn't play! As far Back an the 80's lots of talented kids transferred to other schools for this very reason. My father was a teacher at a local Vocational school for 25 years and he had a bunch of former players and students of a long time Eastern Kentucky football power take his program. He came to understand that fact that students from this particular HS were going to be weak in basic math and reading skills. But he loved the Kids from this particular HS because they would TRY! They would give 100%! He never blamed the kids, he blamed the people running that HS. I heard him say a million times that someone needed to explained too the folks running that HS that football is not everything.

The man asked a question. Why so many people being so defensive? If it's not a big deal and there is nothing to be ashamed of, then why not just answer the question? The answers a fairly simple. It's either that does not happen or there is nothing wrong with it, here's the numbers you asked. Being defensive and avoiding the question makes it seem like you have something to hide.

Not one senior in this years class was held back in middle school. I have known them and watched them since they were T-Ball age. This should end this discussion.
08-12-2014, 09:24 PM
It has nothing to do with the question being asked Thomcat. It's more the idea that it is brought up countless times on a year to year basis. Frankly I think we all get tired of hearing it.
