Should be a good one.
Prestonsburg shouldn't have a problem with scoring as long as they don't turn the ball over.
Defense wasn't very good early last season, but looked the best it's looked in 3-4 years after halfway and in the playoffs.
Best of luck to both!

I think this has the potential to be a very good game I got Prestonsburg winning 35-34

Pikeville won at Prestonsburg last year when no one gave them much of a chance and I expect them to hold serve at Pikeville. For some reason Prestonsburg gets a ton of respect on here and I know everyone will be saying it will be different this year for a dozen reasons but nonetheless I will go with Pikeville.

Even though Pikeville shut them out in the second half last year on their home field? Prestonsburg's offense wasn't very good last year...

Prestonsburg wasn't very good at the beginning of last season. Didn't get things turned around until the Betsy Layne game.
I'd also like to say that I meant that Prestonsburg shouldn't struggle on offense this season, didn't necessarily mean that they shouldn't have a problem with Pikeville's defense.
Pikeville is the favorite in this game to me.

Agree with all that. Pikeville's the favorite only because it's at Pikeville IMO. Either team winning won't be a surprise. Both teams will benefit from the game and will have excellent seasons, again IMO.

Should be a excellent early season test for both teams. I think P-Burg's returning experience is going to play a big key and I'll give them a slight edge.

Pikeville misses Hall's experience and leadership early on. Prestonsburg as the speed to keep up with Pikeville, but I look for Charles and Estep to make a statement early in the season. I give Pikeville a 6 point edge simply for being at home.

I like prestonsburg to win this one. I think they start the season out fast this year unlike last year and continue there good play throughout the whole season and expect them to be very dangerous in the playoffs.

This is a great matchup for the FIRST WEEK (drop the Week 0 junk) of high school football. There will be mistakes made by both teams. The team that makes the least turnovers will have a great advantage. Both are strong programs with high expectations for 2014. Jarrell is a tremendous QB and Frasure was one of the best backs we faced last year. Pikeville has some big holes to fill due to a strong senior class last year, but I think they can do it. This will be a great matchup and lower scoring than some believe. Pikeville 28, Prestonsburg 20.

That is because of how good Prestonsburg was in the 2nd half of the season and how they finished. You played a very young team in the 1st half of the season who had not found their identity yet. Pikeville would want no part in the Prestonsburg team that finished the season compared to the one that started the season. Prestonsburg returns everything and they have a very good coaching staff who are proven winners.

I happen to agree with this jetpilot. After the Betsy Layne game, the Blackcats took on a whole new dimension. It was like they woke up, and finally started believing in themselves.
God!! I love football!!!!

They beat some horrible to mediocre teams, all at home too I believe.
Shelby Valley awful (lost 4 or their last 5 with only win over Leslie Co.), LCA worse than horrible with 1 win all year, Leslie Co. just awful (lost their last 6 games), Lawrence Co. mediocre and fizzled bad down the stretch, a 6-6 Danville team that was mediocre at best (lost to Corbin 55-7 and Middlesboro 42-15), and a lost to a weak Somerset team that had all of 6 points at Middlesboro until less than a minute in regulation. Yes the same Middlesboro team that Pikeville hung 77 on. I like Prestonsburg, but they were a very ordinary team last year. Jarrell and Frasure were pretty much the whole team. And they played all those games at home.

I will keep this short. You won last years game......congrats!
The teams Pikeville won against last year had a combined record of 52-75. The teams Prestonsburg won against last year had a combined record of 32-46. Both are 41% winning percentages, so I see no difference.
We will do our talking on the field at your place this year. Good luck on an injury free game for both teams, & good luck on the rest of your season after our game.

I think p-burg got confidence after the hazard game last year and I thought they played well too even though jones didn't play in the game last year.
