This doesn't count that every year now we scrimmage Milan Tn. They usually are a contender for or win state in Tn 3a. We beat them in most scrimmages and it ain't just for fun. They play like its real. That scrimmage is a measuring stick for both programs.

No disrespect intended. I have said multiple times that 08 is a top 3 all time squad at Raceland. Probably one of the best single A squads to not win a championship, in STATE history. TEAMS include coaches as well. The kids had to run the plays that were called, they executed the best they could. The coaches(and they admit it and take the blame) slipped up in the game against LCA. So yes, the TEAM slipped up, it's on the playcalling, but thats all apart of the team imo.
NASCAR Wrote:Listen I'm not trying to be a prick I'm just giving my opinion. Just like you guys are giving me your opinions. Overall other than few schools kentucky HS football is very weak. When you look at the majority of other states, single A is a powerhouse Scotty? I'm not gonna convince you guys of anything but I have my opinions too. NASCAR is a great event to watch. Good luck to the all the teams and the watered down 6 classifications.

Funny...i find nowhere in my post that I stated single A was a powerhouse. Crawl back in your hole.
He obviously has a problem with us posting on here. I don't understand why he gets on here just to downplay us all.
Pound per pound 1A is the toughest class. Confusedinglepar
You didn't last but 2 days there 64. I think Scotty was right on.

You and Scotty_Bronson makes me :lmao:
I knew he couldnt stay away, i have noticed a deadening of the Wburg thread since his vacation though.
One of the reasons that I think EKY football is looked down on is their aren't any large 5 A or 6 A schools that I'm aware of.
Raceland's skill guys look GREAT. Josh Young has grown into an extremely physically impressive young man. He has tightened up his throws and the timing that he, Messer, Dixon, Potter, and Snyder have right now was very impressive to me. Granted it was against the toughest competition in the world, you can see what these skill guys have the ability to do. If the line can give Josh just a little bit of time, Raceland should score in bunches. Defensively, our DBs look really good as well. Dixon, Messer, Young, and have almost 40 varsity ints between them. Each having almost 10 apiece. If the OL/DL continues to decelop like they have been, Raceland should be on par with what they were last year.
I wish the season would get here and hurry.

Meant to say "It WASNT against the toughest competition in the world". Prestonsburg and Ashland werent there today. Ironton, Raceland, Greenup Co, and East Carter was all I saw today. It's a passing scrimmage so take it for what its worth, but Raceland was the most fundamentally sound school there. Ironton was a close 2nd. Palledino (of Ironton) is an impressive kid to watch. He has alot of the things you simply cant coach.

From what I saw, my assessment has not changed. If Raceland's line fan give Josh Young 3-5 seconds in the pocket, we will possibly have the best passing team to ever come out of Raceland. If our line gives Christian, Snyder, and Walker a few wholes here and there, we have potential to produce multiple 1000 yard running backs. Our offense will put up impressive numbers. We will score alot of points. But my fear is how well we will be able to stop the run between the tackles. Our safetey's and corners are good run stoppers and can really contain the wide side of the field reall well. Time tell. Offensively we will be fine. Defensively, teams will struggle throwing against us. Theres alot of speed and length in our secondary. If we can defend the run to a certain extent, I really like our chances. Our speed as a team is better than i have ever seen. Hopefully that will make up for a lack of size.
Who won the tournament today? I know Fleming County won it on Friday but they didn't go back today.
Couldnt tell u. I didnt stick around for it all. I know Raceland beat GC and EC soundly. Looked like Ironton beat Lewis Co. And looked like Lewis beat Greenup, so Idk at this point.
It is much more fun to watch football with pads on.
Raceland played Ironton in the finals. Not sure who won though. Im looking foward to getting over and seeing how the team looks in pads and get a first hand look at how the lineman have deceloped. I only saw 2 or 3 dropped balls yesterday, maybe not even that many. All 3 of the base formation recievers looked great. Trey Potter has grown a couple inches and has gotten alot faster and all of the skill guys look like they have gained 10-20 lbs of muscle. Looking foward to seeing the team in pads.
I think the Rams will be fine this tear until the play some bigger schools that go deeper then the do.With 60 + kids I think they should start playing more kids. They run into the same problem every year,to many kids go both ways.Until the coaching staff commits to playing more kids I don't feel the Rams will ever reach there goals.
No way would my starting QB play defense.

Agree on not starting the QB on defense....
I love reading your post Scotty about the Rams,it gets me pumped for some football.I do think sometimes you are looking through orange tinted glasses.Confusednicker:
64 help me with this.I have never seen a orange and black YELLOW jacket before.
What gives?????

Greenup 1's beat Lewis 1's. Think you might have saw GC 2's get beat by Lewis 1's. Also Raceland 1's and GC 1's didnt play saturday. GC also beat EC 1's and got beat by Ironton who they beat on Friday. All and all good tourny for all teams. Most games were really close.

I think one day they was spraying the endzone ran into a yellowjacket nest..and they painted the nests orange. I have know clue. I really think a band member would know.
I think that Whitesburg was also the Yellowjackets, and also orange and black. You guys do things funny down that way.Confusednicker:
I dont see through orange tinted glasses. I will give my opinion on the Rams good or bad. I agree that more kids need to be on the field. Especially with the type of Soph class we hae and the skill guys in the freshman class. I think we could platoon alot of games. They need to use games against EC and BC to figre out what underclassmen have the ability to do so. Part of single A ball though, is alot of guys going both ways. I think Young has the guts to doboth. With Conner, Preston, and Damien Black, we are pretty deep at the QB position. If one of the under classmen step up though, you may see Josh's reps limited toward the end of the season. If we stay healthy, I like our chances to win the district and at the very least, compete for a region repeat.
Hey Scotty are you hearing any rumors up your way about Raceland and Johnson Central playing next season?

:dontthink List is incomplete, prior to 2011
No Trousdale County, TN is one off top of my head :welcome:

In thread related talk, I am pulling for Raceland or Pikeville to make it in hopes that we are fortunate enough to make it and get to play a team we have never played before. Good luck Race!
Scotty_Bronson Wrote:Dixon, Messer, Young have almost 40 varsity ints between them. Each having almost 10 apiece.

Incorrect...

Messer has 16 career pics (+346 yards), five of which were returned for TD's. Dixon has 10 career pics (+194 yards), two of which were returned for TD's. Josh Young has 0 career pics, but has two career fumble recoveries (+30 yards), with one being returned for a TD.
My fat fingers hit the wrong #. I knew it was close to 30. The ofher coment was supposed to read "an avg of 10 each" which is still off due to your information on Young. Messers numbers are more impressive than I thought though. I guess bc of Josh knocking down so many passes last year, I figured he had a punch of Picks. He impressed thehell out of me last year. Im hearing good things out of Ram camp btw.
Does Raceland have a scrimmage at home between August 10 and August 12?
