I was thinking of Russellville... sorry... I will give Wburg the benefit of the doubt at 3 w/ the players they have back and Massey being added.
Massey should be one of the Top 10 players in 1A...that is a huge addition to a team already returning a ton.

55 you can throw mcreary in there on the list of 64s teams, he is all over there thread, i think he has officially adopted every team in the state except mayfield. Heard he is on the phone with the epa about the nuclear waste in wky. He has figured out mayfield has found the magic secret of the ooze, the same as what made the ninja turtles turn in to studs.

Now you have let it leak there Killbilly. We were trying to keep that secrete.

Things wont be any easier after mayfield leaves, i expect beechwood and frankfort to be the teams to beat for years to come.

Frankfort and Beechwood should be moving forward...but over the past 5-6 years there has been a definitive and very clear drop from Mayfield to those two teams. Mayfield has simply been next level dominant.
The upset potential for the teams from the East vs. Mayfield is slim to none most years... even if Mayfield had off nights most of these ears they still were talented enough to dominate. Beechwood and Frankfort don't have that same cushion to play with it seems.

Stop it, your making me blush!!!
I really think if Beechwood was on the east side, since they live there , we would have seen them at state most years. They are really good. We have just had their number the last 5 years or so.

I could buy that.
Think Hazard would have got them a couple years..especially if that Semi game would have been at Hazard...but it is pretty clear for at least the past 5-7 years Beechwood and Frankfort each have been consistently Top 5 teams in the State with most years as the 2nd and 3rd best.
I do miss the Mike Yeagle Beechwood teams. During Mayfield's current run it would have made for some epic battles had Yeagle still been running that program. You would be talking about 2 of the Top 15 overall teams in the State regardless of class meeting up in tiny 1A.
Since Yeagle left Beechwood has maintained a very solid program, but they are definitely not the dominant force they once were.

I remember people saying in 2011 was the year beechwoods seniors was suppose to win it all but they didn't..

bac, to be honest they did cost us the championship that year. They were very tough and banged us up bad. Because of that game, Mr Everything (Jonathan Jackson), was injured and could not cut. LaBront Scott, the best def end in the state, had a torn hamstring. We also lost two of our best linemen to broken ankles. It cost us dearly. Esp when the one linemen was the best we had that year and was the one that told people where to block and he was replaced by a soph. That was a very tough team. The play they all complain about at the end though was not a pass interference. I have watched it at least 50 times. The ball got tipped making the receiver fair game. The hit on the receiver was bang bang with the ball getting there as well.

No team is what you really call healthy in December.. Hazard was ready for that game and capalized on mayfields turnover just like mayfield did the year before on hazard.. I still can't believe mayfield didn't score a TD that game..
06-19-2014, 06:42 PM
We really, really were hampered by injuries in that game. I would love to see it played with us healthy. I still think they were pretty evenly matched that year. Who knows.

Shows what you know 64. It was 14-6 at half. They scored a field goal after a while in second half to go up 17-6. I still felt like we would put something together and we was moving ball. Then the young Jake Guhy threw a pick 6 late and we couldn't recover. When one team commits five turnovers the other team should be well in command. Hence 2010, 2012 and 2013. 24-6 is not a blowout.

The new alignment should produce more competitive championship games. I feel Beechwood will be the primary figure. If Frankfort doesnt have young tallent coming up they may struggle. They lost alot from a small team last year, lots of tallent graduated. Raceland is doing things to stay competitive for years to come, Pikeville will always be in the mix and so will Hazard. Idk what to think about Williamsburg after 2014. Idk much about their feeder system outside of these kids that were in there a few years ago

64, meant to say he was smoking. Smoking something green that is.

I saw the burg practice today they looked like a small college team. I was impressed, I am going to hold back my crowing but, I feel they are one of the top 3 class A schools in the state, some of the positions are going to go down to the wire. The thing I liked best they believe they will win. Honestly they looked great. I saw a couple coaches there. I would like to say who they were but, I don't think that it would be fair and they may not come back,. I will say this the Jackets have 3 boys that fit the size, the speed and strength to play at the top level D1 and several good prospects for lower division schools. God I hope how soon it gets here.

You just commited the ultimate jinx. Small college team comparison was used before the season last year with caldwell county.

Small college team? Top level D1? If they were that good, I'd doubt they would be at a small 1A school from the mountains. Not disputing that Wburg has size speed and tallent, but I just dont see kids of that size (somewhere between 6'3"-6'5" and going at or around 250-300 lbs and running sub 5.5 40s) going to Williamsburg. Especially being so close to the TN line. If I am wrong, give me some stats. Zach West was an incredible gaurd at Lexington Christian and is currently a starter at UK. He was 6'5"/275 when he graduated and ran a 5.3 if Im not mistaken all he managed was UK. Wouldnt really call that too level. Its impressive, none the less. But I find it hard to believe there's alot of top level D1 lineman, thats more possible than D1 skill guys though.

Killbilly I have always told it like it is or like I see it, I have not seen the other teams practice But I did see Mayfield last year I though they were the best in that class that I have ever seen, I had Williamsburg overrated. I did not have Mayfield underated. I knew they would be good. I would put them 1 right but, Williamsburg is much better than last year.
06-20-2014, 06:21 PM
Are they 42 points better?
06-20-2014, 07:13 PM
I said they are a mutch better football team, that doesn't mean that Mayfield is not also A much better team, if that is true it will be a hell of a game. When you are a small school. Williamsburg is the smallest school playing FB in the state, I THINK, And you lose two players, we did Skylor, and Jefferson, Jeffferson played with a torn Labrom, which he would not have been on the field if Coach Herron or his parents had known. He hid it, it has been reatched, I don't make excuses we got beaten by a much better team, I don't thjnk we would have won had both been healthy but, I don't think it would have been that bad either, If we do get the honor and opportunity to play again for the championship I don't know if we will win but, you will play a much imp-roved team. Just ask64 he comes to practice often.
06-20-2014, 07:17 PM
The burg is not the smallest school in the state playing football's there are quite a few smaller Fulton city is the smallest.
06-20-2014, 07:24 PM
I looked it up according to the realignment numbers Williamsburg is the 11th smallest with 116 boys, Fulton city has 46 boys, and is the smallest by a big margin with the next smallest having 79 boys. The surprise to me was Frankfort they were in the top ten smallest in size.
