4.3 40 Yard Dash, What?
#1
Ok, Michael Vick runs a 4.3 40.
I've seen alot of fast kids, who run a 4.6
I've also saw a few 4.5 40's, whick is a great highschool football 40.
I've saw a couple of 4.47's, which is by far the fastest I've seen.
Now a 4.3 seems a little excessive and unrealistic in highschool football.
Not saying it cant be done, but a 4.3 is blazzing!
If you got a kid on your team that runs a 4.5, believe me that's fast!
You got a kid running a 4.3, he must be wearing a bright red cape.:lmao:

I seen a guy who plays for Miami OH run a 4.2
#3
a 40 is a straight shot run....michael vick is a complete athlete....thats what makes him look even faster.
I agree w/you though vince, that is a stretch for a high school player.
D. Jones was the closest in my time though. Uk had him listed as a 4.41 electronic.

One of my best friends in high school ran a 4.34 he said he slipped a little coming out of the box as well but I can't verify that. I agree though that there are many people who hype kids and say they run a a 4.4 or 4.5 when they actually run a 4.6 - 4.8.

Jones is the fastest kid I've seen since Brad Tiller in the 15th.

A 4.3 40 is a pretty rare occurance in high school football. I'd say that our team (Paintsville) has maybe two guys that run 4.6-4.7's. I'm not saying it could'nt happen but, I'd like to see it!
#7
yes it is very unlikely for a kid to run that fast but it can happen
#8
i would also love to see it one around here run that fast
#9
i have seen a few 4.4's ran. i have only seen one 4.37
#10
^Who ran it?
#11
LOL If these kids run this fast in high school hate to see them run in collage.
#12
Last year lynn camp had 1 guy that ran a 4.4 (chaffin) and 2 guys that ran a 4.5 (mills and smith). But i was watching a steelers game and the announcer said willie parker ran a 4.28.
#13
I have seen Andre Jackson run a 4.37 the day after Adam Clark ran a 4.40and Joe Smith ran a 4.48
#14
i thought michael vick ran a 4.2 in high school. I know he did at VT it was a recored that DeAngelo Hall beat.
#15
DeAngelo Hall is hella fast
#16
I saw Jonathan Chapman run a 4.41 at a UK camp before his senior season at Pikeville.
#17
I don't think a kid in high school is going to run a 4.3 in the 40
#18
if it was any one it was vick look at him on he is still fast as can be
#19
Lee Renfro...SW...Kentucky's only Old Spice Player Of The Year in 2004....4.34
#81
#20
I don't think a legit 4.3 has ever came out of the mountains. David Jones is probably the fastest I've seen at 4.4
#21
B.J Bryant from SF class of 01 ran a 4.40 40 yard dash his sophmore year at the Hazard Combine......Mark Dunfee ran a 4.42 the same day....

B.J. tore his ACL in the soph-junior summer. I think after he had surgery he was a 4.5 or so when he was back in shape....
#22
Josh Gross from Russell last year hit 4.3 in the 40, some say he hit a 4.28 at a camp this past spring/summer before college, but ask IDOC to verify that. Josh is the fastest I have ever seen. I spoke to his dad and he said that Josh ran faster this year at college than he did in high school. His father is a very legit man.
#23
i wish i could run that fast
#24
There are no legitimate 4.3 40's in high school. These are hand timed and coaches are overzealous at times. I have been to many "true" combines and there have been very few high school kids run under 4.5.
#25
I remember someone saying that David Jones was electronically clocked at 4.3 at the Nike Camp in Ohio.....am I just imaging this or can anyone back me up on this one????
#26
40 times can be fudged just like height and weight are all the time. I dont know how many times ive seen players that didnt look anywhere near the size they were listed as. The fact of the matter is that the only person that knows exactly how fast a guy went is the one holding the stop watch.

Hate to bust your bubble, but Josh Gross wasn't even as fast as Doug howard, and the fastest Doug ever run was 4.48 I believe. David Jones was clocked at the Nike Combine running a 4.38. He told me the last time i saw him he was running a 4.33 this was about a month or so ago. Josh Gross was no where near as fast as David, but not many people are, david is suppose to be the 3rd or 4th fastest in the SEC. The guy he ran down from behind in the Flordia game is suppose to be the fast... David also holds the state record in the 100 meter...10.04, or 10.1 something like that... He is running track for UK now also...
#28
David Jones is a rocket and he hasn't even clocked an even 4.3 so I HIGHLY doubt this guy did..
#29
No way Gross is a 4.3 guy, No way! Heck of a player, yes, 4.3 guy, no way.
I coached against Gross, He was tough! I never thought he was really super fast though. Jones was much faster IMO. I figured he was a 4.6 guy or so, He was good.

Jon Chapman averaged around a 4.6 as well in high school at Breathitt county.
