I'm awaiting confirmation from the school before I shut it down.

Don't worry... no much longer Smile

Who is he
Did he coach on the staff
Did he even ever coach

This will be his first official coaching job in High School.

But he's been helping with UPIKE since the season ended if I'm not mistaken.

Interested to see what the response is from Perry Central.

I am sure they are happy to have one of their own and a kid that they really loved... but at the same time with the expectations and names brought up in the coaching search to end up with a kid with no real tangible coaching experience has to feel like a bit of a disappointment.

Obviously the sky is the limit for Amis... but when a couple weeks ago your sights were on a living legend in Holcomb it is quite the contrast.

No doubt.

They wanted a big name like Holcomb or Dixon... but Holcomb or Dixon didn't want them.

If you can't reel in a for sure winner - then you either go with someone with experience that hasn't done all that well, or you take a chance.

Now PCC will have to practice and learn patience. Going to be some heavy growing pains with this one and truth be told it may take 5+ years before he is truly acclimated to being a Head Coach.

PCC may very well endure a handful of last place District Finishes and losing some games they were not supposed to along the way...hopefully the fans and administration can keep their sights on the long term and not the short term.

I love seeing schools hire their own but dang he is young. I believe Jordan is 23 years old and some players on the Perry Central football team are 19.
Being a coach is about so much more than just knowing and loving the game. I hope Coach Amis hires some guys who have been around the block a few times to help him with the "other" things that go along with coaching.
Hope Perry County gives this young man a chance to learn and win, this could be a long relationship if they don't put too much pressure on him early.
Wish him all the best tho.

Good Luck to Coach Amis and PCC. Nice to see a young guy get a chance. I had just turned 24 when I accepted my 1st Head Coaching Job. The road is hard and there is lot's of mistakes to be made. Get good Assistants that have been in battle and listen to some advice and you will be fine. Life's Short work hard and have a ball.

Jordan is a fine young man and I hope he does well, but he needs some experience around him early on in his career.

Clearly a political hire. Amis, best of luck to you, you'll need it.

Because the Amis family has been treated so great by the Perry County BOE in the past few years.

That is hilarious. Don’t get me wrong, Jordan is a fine fellow but give me a break. How many votes did this hire cost? There is a big difference between playing the game and knowing how to run a 5A program. Sounds like Perry lowered their standards to fine a hire. I guess no one wanted the job so he got it by default. I see a mass exiting of what talent they have. It’s sad that politics came before the kids. My prediction, the program is done.

What the hell is wrong with you all? This is a 23 year old guy who obviously impressed someone. Why are you rooting for him to fail? I want Jordan Amis to be PCC's Haywood, I'd love to see him there for 50 years... you can tell by the guy's Twitter account he is VERY passionate about the game and really wanted to make coaching his career. God blessed him with an amazing opportunity today and he has a chance to make a dream reality! Say something positive, he knows there's a lot of pressure as a 5A program... Perry Central saw something they liked. Cheer the man on!

Good luck, Coach Amis!

I won't reply to condescending statements. you're better than that.

You're better than saying this was a political hire.
He was like 7th or 8th on the list after several people turned them down.
His uncle resigned from the superintendent position days before the board was supposed to vote on terminating him.

Please - Since you're "better than that" - explain how this is political.

Go ask Jade and Justin Haddix. I'm not writing a story, just making points. Lets not forget about the pull I'm sure Al Holland and papa Dudley have.

I'm happy for Jordan Football.

He's still one of the best players I've seen play over the past decade in the mountains. He absolutely torched defenses, including my Blackcats.

Real Badman didn't get an interview Confusednicker:

I like this hire. PCC wasn't going to get a proven coach. So why settle for someone who has been coaching for 20 years but hasn't ever won a district or region title?
Every coach has to start somewhere. Im sure the first few years will be big learning years for Amis, but I don't see Perry making a mistake with this one. If anyone, they are pretty much telling people to shove it and you wont know whats coming. And we wont. You cant prepare for a coach that you know nothing about.
The people making comments about the experience and age baffle me. I know you guys know most of the coaches in EKY and lets just say, this isn't exactly a bad hire compared to most mountain coaches. Most people don't get a shot at being a head coach so young, but I say why not? Most of your "proven coaches" that some on here are saying they wanted started being a head coach just as young. Look at what Campbell did for Whitley. Whitleys football program was almost non existent and if im thinking right, I recall the paper stating he started coaching there when he was 24 and he built a program. He didn't win titles and play for regions every year, but he made Whitley relevant setting them up for someone to take over and continue that success.

I say good move by Perry. He may go 0-10 or 10-0, but either way we'll know before the seasons over if it was a good choice or not.
