Johnson Central 81 Shelby Valley 56 (15 Region Championship)
#1
Johnson Central faces Campbell County in opening round. Congrats.

And congrats to SV on a great turn around season
#2
This game was over before the 1st qtr was...
#3
JC came to play....

There is no question who the better team was tonight!
#4
Congratulations to both on a great season. This may be the year that JC is able to finally make a push at state. What started off as a rough year, the tough schedule that they played early on has definitely got them clicking on all cylinders. Rep the 15th well guys.
#5
And the song "What Are You Listening To" by JC grad Chris Stapleton hits the PA system....

JC crowd goes crazy!
#6
Congratulations to Johnson Central from 64SUR. :worthy:

JC is on fire right now. The team has good guard play, can pressure, has height across the front lines, senior leadership, and experience at Rupp. Putting everything together at the right time. Lucks out and now has a winnable game first round in Lexington.

It's way too early to say, but this team has some eerie similarities to the 1996 and 2010 15th Region championship teams. This team at least makes you think there's an outside possibility, the way they're playing now. Congrats Eagles!!!

Great win Johnson Central good luck at rupp.
#10
Nice win Central. You did prove me wrong. I said u guys never played with any heart, but you sure did tonight. This was a daylight and dark team from last night til tonight.

Great season SV and good luck JC at Rupp.
#11
We learned tonight what we already knew in November... JC the best in the 15th..... Shelby Valley were up and down all year... Talent was there for sure, just did not play well together at times...
#12
A big congrats to Johnson Central. You boys did something very special that only a few teams in the history of the 15th Region have accomplished. Now you have a great chance to do something special at Rupp. Go play with heart, desire and determination. Do what your coaches ask of you and play together! Good luck!

Tonight was the best JC crowd I've ever seen at a JC basketball game....

It's nights like this that make me proud to be a Golden Eagle..... from sitting through seasons when we couldn't make it out of the district.... to a 3 Peat in the regional championship game. I love my high school!
#14
Johnson Central is a tough out..
Especially with the man child Hall.

Agreed Ballers. Here is my only issue with those who question Halls ability. In this tournament alone how many overly aggressive fouls did he have to endure. I'm sure it's very hard for him to play to his ability when he knows every time his feet leave the floor everyone it seems tries to undercut him. If he was 40 pounds heavier it wouldn't be an issue. That's why it seems he really shines against good clean competition. He can play without fear. For some reason our area has a stigma that it's not acceptable for a kid to dunk the ball so it seems everyone tries to just be overly aggressive and bully him. I expect a big tournament out of him and the rest of the Eagles.

That's the way it is for any big man around here. Smaller teams play them hard and try and get into their heads. That's why I like Shane. He keeps his head and just takes it in stride and keeps playing. If he doesn't get his dunk. He just goes to the line and gets his two most the time any way.

Oh, and to the poster in the other thread that said JC was cocky. Well, it aint cocky if you back it up.

Good Luck JC at State. Rep us well!

Ummm. If I am playing, I'm not about to get jammed on. If I have to make a hard foul to prevent it from happening, so be it.

Congratulations to Johnson Central. They have finally started doing what they should be doing in the 15th Region. Nice run they have had.

This clearly shows who was the best team in the region. Congrat JC good luck at state.

JC has two kids coming off the bench that play starting Defensive Line on JC's football team... If I was Coach McKenzie and somebody undercuts or tries to do the newest WWE move on Hall or any other JC player, they would get a strong dose of those two. And what happens from there just happens.... If your gonna play dirty against my team.... then don't expect my team to 'be the better person".

First thing this morning (6:26 am)

"Playing dirty" would be sending players off the bench to send a message. (Which I admire John Cheney for :biggrinSmile Fouling someone to make sure they don't get an easy basket and have to earn it at the foul line is not dirty. If so, Shaq was bullied his entire career lol.

Congratulations Johnson Central!! Represent the mountains of the 15th region!!
#24
Congrats JC. You guys are without a doubt the best in the 15th. Good luck at state. Represent the 15th young men.

But you never did play, unless you are talking about video games, so you shouldn't make that statement. Doing something like that is called being a coward because someone is more talented and you don't want to get shown up. Why not work to get better, learn how to play defense with your feet, slide into position to cut them off instead of running behind them and yanking them down?

Ok "Thunder" and "KyRock" let me paint you a picture. Your son is driving to the basket. He is 6'9" and can dunk at will. The apposing player says "I'm not about to get dunked on", "because there's a price to pay for dunking" and they foul YOUR son hard and INTENTIONAL. YOUR son the 6'9" player, whom by the way never questions a call or plays dirty, goes to the floor hard and hits his head. The impact causes a brain hemorrhage and now YOUR child is dead.

My question to you 2 fine fellows is....... is YOUR child’s life worth the "price to pay for dunking"????

There’s a difference in a clean hard foul and playing dirty. Hall has endured DIRTY play now for 3 ½ season all because he can dunk. He may possibly lead the state in drawing intentional fouls (4 in 3 games of the regional tournament. Very sad, if you ask me, that other players and even worse COACHES who teach their players it’s ok to inflict harm to another player/kid/someones child. <--- Possibly YOUR child someday.

By the way, Congratulations JC. Make us all proud in RUPP.

Excellent post.

Don't forget the WWE style Bodyslam by the Magoffin Co. kid in the district tournament.

Seems like the last 6 games that JC played were some very dirty plays against them. But I can say I never in any game seen the first JC player go back after the other teams player. That Makes me very proud of our players and coaches!!! Maybe that's why we are where we are today. One thing cannot be argued we have a large number of fans at every game away or home.
