Clay wins big. This tournament was over when Jackson lost last night. Much respect for all the other teams but the Generals where the only team that run with Clay. Party is gonna be in Manchester Monday.

I picked a Corbin/Clay region championship since October.
I originally said Clay would beat Corbin 5 months ago for the title.
But, im taking the best coach in the region.
Corbin 71
Clay 66

I'ts gonna be a boring slow down crappy final. You are probably right Gamecast and believe it or not, I would usually rather Clay win this one but no way this year. If Allen gets in foul trouble early and Corbin can get an early lead to control tempo, I could see them pulling this one out. I can't believe I'm saying this but Go Hounds!

Collier had an off night? Fox was definitely shutdown. Tony P is a heck of a coach and he will make this an all out war for Clay. If Clay comes out slow it will likely be a battle to the end. If they come out like they did the first 2 games, it will be a 20+ point blowout just like it would against any 13th region team. I'm expecting Corbin's best punch though, and I think the officials will try and keep it close too. Clay by 11.
03-09-2014, 06:10 AM
I said it after the first round. The CC players have only one thing on their minds...WINNING. McDaniel is showing what it means to be a leader. the three sophs are showing they can play at a high level and Allen is proving that he his the best big in the 13th. Marcum has been looking for an anchor for this team and obviously he has found it. Coach of the Year. CC wins big in finals.

Clay is peaking at the right time. Playing as a team having fun and focused on the goal. Unless we have a total relapse into selfishness . Clay will be repeating. I'll give Tony P. And corbin their credit. But Clay is no one man show like Jackson. He will he it respectable. But Clays wins by 9. 69-60
03-09-2014, 09:00 AM
Corbin has the best coach in the region but I believe Clay got the matchup they wanted to start the tournament (save Barbourville). The boys look like they are having more fun they ever. I really think the Jackson game did it. They're playing as team and doing their individual jobs. Chip is playing as a pure floor general, Wes is putting on a show, Jake maning the middle, Trey can score and rebound with the best, House good minutes, and Smith with his defense. 1 more game Tigers, stay focused.
03-09-2014, 09:36 AM
I think this team is beginning to live up to the hype. UKCC said it best...everyone playing their role...doing what it takes to win.
03-09-2014, 09:42 AM
They are playing beautiful basketball. Anyone who says McDaniel isn't a point guard 16 assists and 0 TO's. He's also took the fewest shots the first two games because he hasn't had to. Jake Allen is looking like Mutumbo inside, playing great defense without using his hands. Wolfe and Smith are proving to everyone they can make more than a wide open layup, House is the best 6th man in the region and Trey is the offspring of the GOAT. This team is FINALLY playing to their potential! Lets hope it lasts, because they are pretty special when they play like they have the last two games.
03-09-2014, 09:45 AM
Corbin and Tony P better show all their cards, give 100% heart and hustle and have the officials on their side to keep this one close. Anything can happen in March though! Go Clay County Tigers!
03-09-2014, 09:49 AM
I'm gonna say it. CC by 20+. The boys finally understand what it takes to be great. SELFLESSNESS. GO BIG CLAY!!!

Dont be hating General that junk defense sent u all home. When u r a one man show that's what happens. Clay has 6 horses capable of dropping 20 any night. U might as well root for Corbin because its back to ur rightful place of this region and being the bottom feeders u are use to being. The best thing to ever come out of Jackson county is 421 south bound into Greatness.

I think Clay County should win this one, and most people agree.
But, if the Clay County players take Corbin as lightly as their fans do, it'll be the Redhounds making the trip to Rupp. Corbin is a much better team than people are giving them credit. A month ago, I would have taken Clay by a lot, but a lot has changed since then.
As far as officiating is concerned, I think these two teams are made for the way the officials are allowing the teams to play. I've not seen a game this tournament, boys or girls, where the calls were one-sided.
It should be a great game. Clay County has had a cake walk to the finals and Corbin hasn't had an easy game in a while. It'll be interesting to see how Clay responds in the tournament after being tested.
The Tigers should win. But, so should have Knox and Jackson. I can't wait to see this one tip off.

Hey Tri- County its not that were taking anyone lightly...its just that we all know what these boys can do when they are playing to their potential, and Corbin cannot match anything we will trow at them. We are peaking.

I don't think anyone is underestimating Corbin. They play HARD, fast and that reflects their coach. Their biggest player is 6'1 and they have 8-9 guards that can handle the ball and play pesky defense. BUT they cannot matchup with Clay County. I seen Knox's demise after Marsee got injured they weren't the same. JC had major issues all year and like I predicted a good Corbin team sent them home. Corbin CAN beat Clay County, if Clay doesn't show up. If Clay plays to their capability they simply can't run with the Tigers.

Jackson and Knox are not CC.

TriCounty, do you know the seating capacity of The Arena? Any chance it is near full Monday night?
03-09-2014, 11:23 AM
No one is over looking Corbin Tri-County.
The Arena won't be filled to capacity Monday night. Does anyone know if the tickets will be sold for complete sides for each school since they're is only two teams? Instead of split into 1/4? I'm not trying to sit in the corner of the end zone again for the championship.

If I were Clay's Coach I'd be insulted that folks are talking Petroski as the best coach in the region. Head to head Robert Marcum is 4 & 1 Against Petroski's Redhounds, with his only loss being in the 13th Region Semis his first year leading the Tigers when Chip was an eighth grader.
03-09-2014, 12:14 PM
And Another Point-
I remember back in 2012 When Chip was a freshman and the Tigers overlooked North Laurel in the Championship Game at the Arena, you can be assured the Clay's floor General-Chip will have his guys heads and attitudes where they need to be. Rest assured no one is overlooking the Hounds and their coach, they have been told repeadidly what they'll be up against when they take the court.
