For all those people complaining about how bad the referee's are in your region or how your team got cheated by the referee's.....
Take this practice test. See how you stack up.
And if you do take the test....... post your scores.
And some of you will use a search engine...... but challenge yourself. Referee's at the HS level don't get the luxury of instant replay or media timeouts to review... they have to make split second decisions.

I scored an 81%. First 2 question were really easy LOL. Wish I could have seen the ones I missed.
Even had I scored a 100% I wouldn't do what these men and women do. Get paid $50 to spend time away from their families just to get ridiculed by those who don't even know the rules. Get on forums like this and call them out by name and make rash comments based on the outcome of a game of which they didn't miss a single free throw, had zero turnovers, didn't miss a block out assignment and didn't commit any fouls. I've never understood how or why fans ALWAYS blame the referee's.
Me personally, I think the players and the coaches are the ones who decide the outcome of the game.

I cant speak for others regions but here in the 14th i can! I've watched basketball in the mountains for over 30 years and this is what I have to say about the refs. I understand there jobs are very hard and its a no win situation in most cases. Being a ref you know these things are gonna happen so either quit or shut your mouth about it. That's what the refs tell the kids when they talk back so I feel the same way about there situation. It is a shame and disgrace to know that several of the highest official in this area BET on the games. Pulp fiction I know you know this. You can take up from them all you want but the truth is what it is. Several of these guys bet on a consistent basis which make me sick and not to mention the ones that have been surrounded w/ talks of drugs. I have zero respect for the ones that do that. If you think for a second these refs don't know the point spreads and officiating doesn't play a big part in this then you either are very naive or haven't been around the game long enough.

In regards to the quiz. I have never seen a fan, player, or coach yell, scream, or violently dispute the following 1. balls rolling on top of backboard, 2. players slapping the ball out of the inbounders hand. 3. how many timeouts they were awarded in overtime. 4. Jumping out of bounds tapping it back in and then regaining possession. But just about everyone knows what a reach, a push, a block, a charge, and an over the back foul is and what a double dribble, carry, three second call is. Show some videos of these and bet you get 90% agreement on those. What has been frustrating fans and coaches lately is the inconsistency of these calls, by the same officials in the same game, different officials in the same game, and by the same official in different games. Meet before warm ups decide how you are going to call it, and all three stay consistent to the lead official. Again ill say tho that we have some really good officials, but it just takes one to throw off the consistency and get the coaches, fans, and players fired up. And if you can call it consistent, whether good or bad you have given neither team an advantage and its a fair game.

Zaga, I think you would be a good ref. I think your would call it as you see it. I've never been one to want to win a game because of the refs and never been one to want to lose at the hands of refs either. Just like Valley Proud said Call it consistent! Nothing more, nothing less.

If it's in the rule book, then a referee needs to know it. No matter if it is a "once in a lifetime" call or not.

Just saying you dont hear people really complaining or getting that upset over those types of calls. Yes I would love it if we had 100% perfect robots but its never gonna happen. So Ill take refs that are consistent and fail that quiz over refs that can pass it who arent consistent. Players and coaches can adjust to a ref that is consistent but when a 5'11 red jersey pushes a 6'7 white jersey in the back and gets a rebound and and its a no call, but when the white jersey reaches over the red on the other end without contact and gets a foul then how do you adjust that?

It's the refs that make 100% on this quiz that scare me. I agree 100% that the 14th could easily be some of the best refs in the state but they chose to do the wrong things. If you watch them ref a game you will know 100% that they are not doing the right things. They are good officials that are tainted by all the bad that goes on in high school basketball. Anyone that would sell dope, take drugs or bet on games WOULD 100% take money to change the outcome of a game. I have zero respect for any of them that do these things!!! Ppl can make all the excuses they want to make for refs but its as simple as being consistent in doing what you get paid to do!

to make it more interesting, run some sprints or wear yourself out in between each question

I may be the only person telling the truth about the test.I would love to say I scored a 100%..But I would be lying I score a 43%...:please: nobody ask me about the :rules: no wonder the ref looks at each other before they make a call. 64SUR

Scored pretty well, would like to know what 2 questions I missed, couple were vague questions.
