I can tell you about Estill County....infielder to watch Mackenzie Angel...outfielder to watch center fielder Kennedy Flynn...Best Pitcher in the 14th Michaela Gross who has 4 or 5 pitches now...and best hitter in the 14th Cheyenne Rawlins .....

Estill should have the leaders in many categories in the 14th region. Their program is that far ahead of the others in the region. Jenkins is close, but Estill has passed the Cavaliers as the premier program in the 14th. However, what are you really saying when you are the best in the 14th region? You are the hands down favorite in a very weak region.

I agree that Estill is the front runner in the 14th . I also agree that the 14th is weaker than the rest of the state , but the players in the 14th can only be judged by the competition they play after all the only reason these teams are weaker and they haven't grow with the rest of the state is where they live and who they play. It's also not the players faults , that argument is getting a little boring . If you look at individual players in all the regions the best hitter in the 14th is probably as good as the best hitters in the other regions comparably . There will always be outstanding players in regions of Ky . Now back to the 14th Gross is one of the best pitchers in the region but the Estevez kid at Jenkins is as good some will say better. The Rawlings girl at Estill is a good hitter but the Boggs girl at Jenkins hit afew bombs last year. Oh yea back to the region comments Miss Ky was from one of smaller programs in Ky and I hear she might have been the best hitter in Ky.

Harrison County is not a smaller program. Harrison would win the 14th many years.Yes, you can only compare who you play, and that's why Estill is way ahead. I'm glad we agree.

I have a lot of respect for Coach Beard and Estill County, because they do go out and play a much better schedule than the rest of the region. I get tired of hearing the excuses, such as it's too far to go play, etc. That's why there's weekends. Cut back on some of the week day games and go play a few Saturday triangles and a couple of tournaments out in the state. In the long run it will help your program get better. The basketball teams in the 14th travel all over the place to play good competition, so why not softball? Sorry, no disrespect intended, I would just like to see the mountains catch up a little.

I think playing during the summer helps as well.. Several of Estills players play on traveling teams during the summer...
