Middlesboro Football W/ New Coach
#1
Ok, by now we all know the news. Middlesboro has let go of Coach Frazier and are now looking for a new Head Coach. This returning Yellow Jacket team was, and is, expected to do big things this year. Will the introduction of a new coach hurt or help them more this coming season? Opinions?
#2
Hurt. No matter who they bring in, it will be a f'ed up situAtion!
#3
Only one hire could save this. The guy with a house less than 12 miles from the stadium in Middlesboro. A guy with the overall record of 345-101 and 3 State Championships and a record of almost 20-1 (?) against Middlesboro. A guy that wants to come back to BELL COUNTY.
#4
Don't see that guy leaving U-pike just yet!!!
#5
Nobody from the Boro needs to kid us or themselves. This job is filled, has been since Steve aka the jerk Martin came in.
#6
The mboro job is only posted to follow the guidelines. The job is Zack Massengill's from what we're hearing. Mboro will be loaded next year but the morale of the boys is down. They enjoyed playing for Frazier as he is well liked by the team. The next coach is gonna have a hard time building a rapport with the team, especially knowing the circumstances behind him getting the job. If Steve Martin cared anything about those boys he would've kept Frazier around another year, especially to let him see his son through his senior year.

How can you have a season like they have and just fire the coach. Politics or not, it is just sad.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

I don't think Dudley would do Frazier that way, In today paper Steve Martin reiterated it was a mutual decision but when he calls you in and tell you you can stay on as teacher but the administration wanted to take the football program in a different direction that not mutual that getting fired, that a search for new coach was under way Zach Massengill is Middlesboro new coach they can try to make people think what they want but i was told at the beginning of the season this was going to happen but didn't believe it and was told massengill would be the coach and that Steve Martin and the Massengill father was good friends and they worked togather at East end school looks like the man knows what he was talking about.
#9
It will hurt. It would serve Martin right to have all the seniors bail on him and his flunky, er, new coach.
#10
I don't know the Massengills but from what i heard the Massengills are fine people and don't know Zack, But the Middlesboro administration has put a dark cloud over his first head coaching job it a bad reflextion on Middlesboro schools system and the school board for letting it happen this way and if they didn't know they need to resign now. good luck to Zack because he will be taking over a good team that should go far next year. A lot of preesure been added on him and now the whole state will watching not for next because that Frazier hard work but the years to follow.

What kind of experience does Mr. Massingill have.
#12
Is Jason Chappell an option?
#13
What position did fraziers son play?
#14
Frazier's son plays tight end and linebacker. He's a heck of a punter too

Played at Campbellsville, was assistant at Boyle coaching secondary for 5 or 6 years including State Championship seasons of '09 and '10. Went to Bourbon with John Hodge as his DC for the past two seasons.
#17
And that says that he's better. Because he took over a program that frasier build and have a very good chance to go to state. And if he doesn't that's all and I mean ALL on him.
#18
The paper stated that Frazier and the assistants would carry on with football duties until new coach hired. Is Martin crazy!!!! Frazier was fired he is not the football coach at Middleboro, Don't rub salt in the wound, They need to go ahead an bring in their new coach so he can conduct spring practice he is only hurting the kids and the new coach.

Zach Massengille is the only name ive heard through the town, but i think he would be a good choice as the next head coach. He played on the 1998 State Championship team and was a Coordinator on Boyle Counties 09 and 10 State Championship teams. He has the experience and will take this loaded Middlesboro team deep if you want my opinion. They need to hire someone as fast as they can

If he doesnt take them deep into playoffs does he get fired? That is appparently the criteria for a football coach there.

Does the basketball coach for boys get fired, I think they have won about 4 games this year.

Massengale will take them deep, so would have Frazier, they have everyone back. I don't think anyone in Middlesboro wants him to fail, even Frazier, his son is on the team. He hopes they win the state. It is the administration that has really .......done him wrong. There is no other way to put this. SAD , UNPROFESSIONAL, period. HE has led more this week in the way he has handled and help that team , than most has realized.
#23
Handled with Class all week and will continue to. Teaching many, Class behavior after a setback is all about. Hopefully, others can learn.

He was not the coordinator. He was 1 of the 2 coaches that worked with db's. Hester was and is DC.

He is from Whitesburg, that would be closer to home. Is he even trying to leave?

The decision is being left up to his son. He's the one that has been hurt the most by Martins decision.
#29
Has Massengill had head coaching experience? What kind of experience has he had that makes him a good candidate for this position?
