Clay county 68 Jackson county 60
#1
Big time comeback clay was down 16pts in the first half..:Cheerlead

Sounded like it was a battle until the end. I'm assuming Clay Co hit their free throws to seal the game. There is one thing about Clay - if you foul McDaniel late in the game, you might as well head to the locker room. He rarely misses from the charity stripe.

I think this would be a great game in the regional finals.

The complacency by JC was unreal the second half; combine that with the Abismal coaching effort and JC just didn't stand a chance. As talented as JC can be coaching will be their downfall, they just can't finish a ball game. Kudos to Clay on taking advantage of JC's stupidity.
#4
Sounds like I missed a dandy! I still like Jackson Co to win the 13th. Nice win for Clay.
#5
Wow, what a game. JC shot unreal in the first half (hand down, man down) but nevertheless they hit. Clay flipped their switch about midway through the 3rd and was the better team the rest of the way. That's two years in a row JC has slowed the ball down when up big (around 12 if I'm not mistaking in the 4th last year in Manchester) and in both games CC ended up with the victory. I agree with the questionable coaching by their staff. Jake Allen may have played his best game, McDaniel was consistent sealing it late at the line, and Smith had a great second half. House great minutes on Fox, Farmer big boards, and Wolfe played solid. I still say it's a two team league. Wouldn't shock me if JC got the win next week but I think it's Knox/Clay, then Jackson.
#6
I hate to say it but I think if Clay is playing to its potential then they are the best team in the region. They have so many weapons and possible mismatches.
#7
Many good points in the earlier posts. The biggest factor in both last years and this years losses has to be coaching. I've scratched my head at several clutch decisions that the Jackson County staff has made.
#8
Good win for the tigers.

Go Big CLAY!

JC brought their best stuff the first quarter like I figured. Bingham slinging in 3s and Collier nailing 25 footers, it looked like things could get ugly. JC is soft though and CC exposed that taking it to them and for 3 quarters, completely dominating the game. Allen needs to play like he did tonight the rest of the way and the Tigers will be playing in Rupp.
#11
Tonight Jackson County played not to lose in the second half instead of playing to win. They had good looks from three in the third and fourth as Clay was making their run but they passed them up. Jackson County scored 10 points total in the 3rd quarter and first 2 minutes of the 4th.

Good to see McDaniel leading the team.:flame:

You can debate all you want about who is the best overall player in the region, McDaniel vs. Barger vs. Fox vs. Baxter, etc., but I don't think you can debate who "Money" is and that's McDaniel. He has proven it numerous times over the last two years. If they lead late from here on out anytime all the way through the regional finals, he will lead them to a win, I firmly believe it. For a team in this region to have a legit chance, they will have to jump on them early (like Jackson did), but then not be afraid to stay on the gas (like Jackson didn't).
#14
Really great win for clay going into the post season!
#15
Agree 100% Van Hagar, that's why I put McDaniel #1. EKYBubba speaks on it all the time. At the end of the day, he is a winner and if you leave the game close late or CC with the lead, chalk it up.
#16
McDaniel is lights out! I love the way he plays. Fox is tough but seemed to give the ball up too much in crunch time.
#17
Some kids got that "it" factor and the only player in the 13th that really has it wears black and gold and has continued to prove it since Marcum forced him to come up in the postseason as an 8th grader. McDaniel did nothing spectacular last night, he just did what he needed to do, keeping his teammates calm while JC stormed out of the gates. His teammates, all 5 of them, played big 2nd halfs.
#18
Smith came out in the second half and and took over the game. Shut fox down and scored 8 in the third. IMO he was the difference maker. Smith set em up and "chip" and Allen knocked em down. Wolfe and farmer had great games also. :flame:

:what: didn't think clay had an 8th grader this year not even postseason yet.Last night game was a team effort......T- E-A-M. :truestory:

The only player with an "it" factor? Wow. Clay county arrogance...especially yours, Bubba never ceases to amaze me. McDaniels can hit free throws so that makes him a great closer and gives him an it factor? Ridiculous. He got shut down most of the night and he's not even the best player on the team. "It factor"? Hell, may as well put him on Clays "mount rushmore" too! Just give him Bobby Keiths spot. You are definitely entertaining Bubbba!
#21
Believe Bubba means you can only do so much with an "it" factor in the regular season. McDaniel knows what it takes to get to Rupp. As far as one of CC best, may shock you but if he were to come back next year he would real close to the all-time scoring record. I don't know if you know this General but we've had a few good ones and that would be great company. A little arrogance comes with success and there's only about 2 other programs in the mountains that can even breath it.

Agree totally 64sur, CC has the best team in the 13th, ConfusedingleparConfusedingleparanyone of the top 6 can hurt u at different stages of the game. The most impressive thing, is that none of the boys care who does the damage as long as the TEAM gets the W. Marcum will be headed back to Rupp
#23
Team effort agreed. A few did some bonehead things here and there but for most part when the run came they came together.
#24
General you are an absolute clown. Yes, he has the "it" factor. His career at CC isn't defined by his games against the little brother, JC. But I think you would at least respect a player of his caliber. You all mark success with getting to the region tournament, whereas Clay does by getting to Rupp. CC is not a one man show. They have 5 other guys that are playing their role well. When they play with effort, they are a very nice team and clear favorite in the region. If they don't they are definitely beatable.
#25
I would have to say that Jackson should have win this game when they was up 16 know reason not to win scoring 30 points from the three and still lose that is bad but to say clay is the best team in this region would be hard because Knox beat them at clay and at Knox but clay does have a nice team and they may win the region this year but to say McDaniel is on the mountain Rushmore of clay basketball I don't think so.

I agree Knox/Clay. But what if McDaniel plays another year and becomes all-time leading scorer with 3 potential trips to Rupp? He's on pace for no lower than top 2-3 right now if infact he played another season. He's not Richie or a legend like Keith, maybe not even Gary Gregory but I would put him in that next category.
#27
Who said anything about McDaniel being on Mt. Rushmore? How can you compare what he's done vs Pat House in 1925? If he leaves this year or next year he will go down as one of the great guards to go through CC and there are quite a few of those. Focus on getting out of district JC, it has been an issue for you all.
#28
Great win for clay
#29
Y'all acting like clay has the#1 seed for district locked up, still gotta win at JC Tuesday or loose by 7 or less.
#30
I could see Jackson Co winning at their place, but I don't know if they can win by more than seven. That's a pretty big margin of victory over Clay. I'm going to say Clay Co comes away with that number one seed and that it will be a battle in the first round of district between Jackson and North.
