I will predict that they will go to the State Title game next year but I just dont see them beating Mayfield. What do you think?
Hazard will go 13-1 next season.

What do you think?Eh, it is way too early for these kinds of predictions. Pikeville is on their schedule, for one. That's a game that can not be overlooked. Will be an interesting season for sure though.

Mayfield or Frankfort will soundly beat whoever comes out of the other half of the bracket. And don't count out Beechwood either.

No. Hazard will not win their region. At best, they will be the third best team in the east.
Nobody in the east will come close to beating Mayfield.

The only ones with a chance would be Beechwood or Frankfort.

I think the east will be represented very well in 2014.
Hazard, Williamsburg, Raceland, Pikeville, Fairview, & Paintsville.
The East is closing the gap IMO.

That gap still looked pretty wide at the finals. In fact I would bet several other teams in the West would have beat the East rep last year. I think the competition in the East has gotten much better among themselves but they still have a way to go to catch the West. Maybe next year when the new classes come out the districts can be tweaked. Or better yet go to a rotating system like 6A. Get to play some different teams in the playoffs.

I would say no, but any team playing Mayfield is who I'm going for. Look out for Williamsburg again this year. They kind of sneaked up on people this year, but they'll be known next year.

I'll predict Frankfort to be in State Championship game.

Hazard has a shot... But the road will be tough... Big time defenders graduated and I think hazard will take there lumps but will still be good offensively... But 13-1 is too much... Maybe around 10 wins...

It's too early to say about Mayfield. If they get good QB play then I expect them to win again. If they don't get good QB play they might win anyway. Spring practice will tell some.

Imo Raceland and Hazard are on a collison course for some great semifinal bouts...starting in 2015. '14 will, imo, come down to Pikeville/Williamsburg with an outside shot of Raceland/Paintsville(Belcher)/Fairview. That Raceland district holds half of the best teams in the east. Next year it is litterally up for grabs in district 7. But Hazard is still a year or two away.

Mayfield
Everybody else.
Everybody else.

No.

Mayfield is the West. Nobody else counts.

I will just say this, I know a certain red shirt Mayfield freshman pretty well. He told me just before leaving Bowling Green after winning number 10, "The road tostate starts Monday". He and many others have lived every aspect of their lives since then to work towards that goal. That means, the way they work out, the way they eat, the way they study and it appears to be paying off.

uhhh no
02-17-2014, 09:21 AM
Short answer: No.
02-17-2014, 10:12 AM
Hazard has the talent, and i can see a deep run but not a championship
02-17-2014, 11:26 PM
NO.

I think the east will be between pikeville and williamsburg. BUT these are high schoolers so anything is possible so ill put hazard the same odds of gettin to state as those two. But as i said i think itll be pike and the burg at hambley

East
Wburg
Pville
Hazard/Raceland
Paintsville
Fairview
West
Mayfield
Bwood
Frankfort
Bellevue
Way to early total preseason thoughts
1. Mayfield 2. Beechwood 3. Williamsburg/Frankfort 4. Pikeville 5. Hazard/Raceland 6.Bellevue/Paintsville 7. Fairview
These imo, are the only teams with legit chances at playing in the championship game. Mayfield is still 4 tds better than the next team. QB concerns and all.

Pikeville will have a quality team for the next few years! Great group of Freshman last year and I think they will find a RB. They have a lot of athletes coming back! Not sure what they lost up front. Hazard Loses a lot on defense and D1 Player in Hudson.
02-18-2014, 09:32 AM
Mayfield owns this class! No chance of Hazard beating them!
02-18-2014, 10:31 AM
^^^agreed. Until the new alignment takes affect, the gap between the west and east is still pretty wide. Once realignment goes into effect you see the gap become narrow and Pikeville, Hazard, Raceland, and Wburg will be not just playing in, but competing for State Titles year in and year out.
02-21-2014, 12:41 PM
irateShoI am not bragging or putting any other team down, but 2013 was supposed to be an average year with no championship in sight for the Mayfield Cardinals,2014 and 2015 were/are the years that the Mayfield faithful were excited about, I said that to say this Mayfield does not rebuild they reload and it depends on the caliber of the bullet of how far they go.
