I remember when I was younger and Ben Bowling played for the Commodores. He was a great talent. Just a few questions...
What years did he play?
Who started on that team?
How many district and region titles did Perry win while he was there?
How good was he or how good could he have been?'
Where did he go to college and play ball? Seems like Tulsa maybe?
Where would he rank in Perry Central history?

Ben played from 1996-97 to 2000 I think. 2 district and 3 regional titles. He left perry central and went to Oak Hill Academy after a week or so he and his roommate got in some trouble so he left and went to a prep school in Florida and led them in scoring and after 26 games was ruled ineligible by the fhsaa then came back and was ruled ineligible at perry central and couldn't get an injunction. Signed with Tulane in what some writers said was a coup because he was so good because tubby smith had come to watch him 3 or 4 times. He didn't like it there then he went to Georgetown and then morehead state. And I think he is definitely the best player to ever play at perry central and probably in the mountains in the last 30 years.

He went to Westminster academy in Fort Lauderdale Florida and won the lexington catholic tournament in 2001. Westminster was ranked #2 in Florida and #6 in the nation I believe. They were 28-2 before the fhsaa got an anonymous letter and because he had went to 1 day of school at oak hill he was ineligible so Westminster had to forfeit 27 games.

I would have to agree w/ hitter. I'm not sure on him being as good as anybody in the mtns the last 30 years though. Ben had the potential to be one of the best player ever from EKY but chose a different route. I truly think the kid had everything to be special in college. His size was great, athletism was great, shoot it well and had handles too!! He went to Tulsa and didn't last till Christmas. Tried Gtown and a couple other places but just couldn't get right!! Only God knows how bright that kids future could have been!

To bad he isn't playing in todays game.
He could of transferred to every 14th region school, and then continued be a superstar at any school of his choice.

Ben was such a good player. I spent a many of nights in Perry and surrounding counties watching him and was amazed. Over the years I've seen some good players come through the mountains but nobody comes close to Ben Bowling.

I grew up playing against Ben, was as good as I've seen around here

Ben Bowling was flat cold. He didn't play like a typical EKy kid. Freak athlete with a pretty complete game.

Didn't he follow an assistant coach or something to Tulane?
I was thinking he committed to UK and then decommitted.

The most athletically gifted player I have seen come from the mountains.

Far as I can remember he never committed to UK. I knew him after his Perry years.

I mean Tulane is where he went. Sorry

I went to grade school with Ben...
He played every sport and never lost.
Freak athlete is saying the least.
He's still a good ball player now.
