Knott Central 70 Cordia 61

Lol I was just guessing,, except the 47% on threes. Saw it the other day somewhere. Was just using average decent guard numbers on his fg %.. He has about 500 points this year,, give or take a few if i added them up right.

I would say your about right!

14th region is wide open there isn't an all out favorite to win this thing. Knott plays better at home, seem to get A LOT of calls at home as well, but they go as Hall goes he's the key. Cordia has an unreal amount of talent but Coach Rhodes has to cut down all these minutes going to every kid on the bench. He should have a set 8 man rotation and go 9, 10 deep when needed to. Why doesn't Cordia press and run and gun? Maybe I'm crazy.

Knott by no means got the calls at home last night.

Seemed like it to me. Refs around here usually try and balance calls out but sometimes they balance them by calling tons of fouls on one team then ticky tack turnovers on the other. seen multiple Cordia kids in the post get clocked and no call then on the other end any Justice drive or hall move to the rim was coming with a whistle.

Hall got elbow a few times by cordia post players and there was no fouls call on cordia players. So I guess the refs try to even the calls out by not calling the fouls for the cordia players throwing the elbows. Refs kept cordia in the game.

I've watched alot of BBall throughout my lifetime. I've seen alot of rough games and been apart of a few of them. Guys, just because an elbow get thrown doesn't means it a foul. Post players are allowed to jockey for position and bang a little bit! That's been part of the game since the peach basket. The 14th region is the softest region in the state. Let the kids play a little bit & stop gripping about it. It's fun to watch those type of games!

Evan Hall has one post move and it's called "a hook".
Didn't get called all night.

Has Camron Justice ever fouled out of a game before?

These are things I've noticed now for 2+ years. Refs in the 14th region are beyond inconsistent based on what I've seen. And ballstar is correct it's part of the game that's sadly being taken away on most nights. Hall and Justice both were rewarded by this last night while Cordia kids on numerous occasions were getting hacked and nothing was called. As for the refs keeping Cordia in the game? Knott co literally shot 40 free throws last night! 18 from justice alone and 12 from hall. 40 free throws from one team in a high school game??

The two most protected teams at home Knott Central boys and Perry Central girls.
What did this game mean for either team....I'm sure neither team showed anything that they plan to do at district tournament when it actually means something!

Cunningham got the whistle when he drove to the basket also! The fouls were even until cordia started fouling with 4 minutes left in the 4th.

I think Cunningham got some special treatment...
but when Knott Central hit the double-bonus in the second half the Lions still had fouls to give.

Cordia lost this game because they aren't as good as Knott, but let's not kid ourselves into believing the foul situation was ever even with the exception of it being 0-0.

Not trying to kid anybody there zaga, Knott had more fouls at some point in the second half than cordia, something like 5-1 or 5-2. I remembered thinking the team playing zone has more fouls than the team playing pressure full court defense.
Cordia is setting up for the region.
Putting all the transfer talk aside, my take of the game is this. Knott steps up their game when Cordia walks on the floor. The entire team is focused on the end result, which is getting the W. Knott consistently shoots the ball well. On the other hand, Cordia cannot perform well when Knott is on the schedule. They seem to play better against other equivalent teams. In breaking down the latest meeting of these two dynasties, I thought Knott played composed. Christon and Cornett always come up with big baskets. They didn't shoot a lot, but when they did, you could mark it down in the book. I thought Evan embraced the challenge. This kid does not get rattled. Justice was Justice doing his thing. Now, Cordia (except for Cunningham) does not finish at the rim. Also, it appears that Cunningham was frustrated with his teammates not knowing/executing offensive sets. I thought Rhodes did a better job trimming down his rotation, but still subs too quickly. The kids cannot get into any flow of the game, except for Cunningham. I thought that Rhodes did a poor job when Evan went out of the game with his 2nd foul. Knott was very small. Cordia maintained an equally small lineup as well. Keita and Ortiz remained on the bench. At the end of the day, either team could come out on top in the district. My bet will be on Knott. Cordia has a lot of work to do in a short time. When it's all said and done, both of these dynasties will be watching Perry cut down the nets as 14th region champions.
I have to disagree with you zaga on hall only has one move, I'm sorry but outside of 5 feet from the basket he would eat Johnson up. Argue all you want about it that's just my opinion. Johnson's bulk helps him at the rim and that's it. 90 percent of the time it's lower the shoulder bulldog his way to the goal (never called) of course to address the part about the most protected teams at home which was comical to say the least. Like I have said before I guess you are always going to stand by your team everybody is a little biased when it comes to their team.

I was exaggerating.
The point I was trying to make is that he hooked several of Cordia's guys the other night and it didn't get called.

Everyone (pretty much) gets their calls at home around here.
I don't think Rhodes does because no one really likes him outside of Lotts Creek.
But NO ONE is more protected, at home OR on the road, than Camron Justice.
That's why I threw in the everybody is biased when it comes to their own teams, kind of like our own kids.
Beverley get a lot of calls at home and away.

From what I hear his playing time formula is going to work itself out with multiple players quitting the team. Thru life kids will always figure out the truth??
Spread the rumors and tell us what you are hearing.

How many of the fouls called on Knott had a direct impact on the game? Most of the fouls called on Cordia were and 1's and key fouls to key players. Knott won and I'll be the first to admit they're a very, very good basketball team capable of winning this region. Just not sold on them being by far the best team. Role player questions and depth will be big factors on them going far in the regional tournament. I've just noticed that Knott tends to get some calls go their way more times than not.
ballstar Wrote:I said it all year Zaga! I watched them this summer and Chapman and Ortiz is big but that's about it! You would think they had Julius Randle and Dakari Johnson waiting to get eligible. Don't get me wrong Cunningham is for real but the rest are just average roles players. If Rod is smart he will let Cunningham shoot it EVERYTIME down the floor. It's their best chance of winning games.
Funny think to me you watched him all summer and he didn't even move here with his father til the end of August or beginning of September. Must had your beer goggles on. I am talking about Mr Chapman and his son.
If Knott realizes the Road to Rupp starts with Evan Hall then that bus will be hard to stop. Mr Pollard may have some influence on that if he can use it, if he can, the Pats will go back.

Your wrong!!! Chapman played in the KBA state tourney this summer and that's a fact!! Furthermore, he lives the the dorm w/ over 80% of the other players. I know that one for a fact my man!!!! Btw, I don't drink!

All of them!!! Have you ever watched a basketball game in you life? Geezz!!! Knott played a lot of the first half without 2 starters because of them having 2 fouls!!!

Other than Braxton Beverly and Justin Johnson!!! Who shoots 6.7 and 7.8 per game, while Justice shoots 6.2 per game!!!

I'm not taking anything away from Knott I'm just saying a team that shoots 40 free throws in a game, especially a high school game, is a head scratcher.

How many of the high powered teams will allow this if Rod is smart he will take the mindset of a good point guard learn the team strength and weakness and utilize them putting players in position to score and not exposing the weakness. He has a good team he has to play to win and leave basketball politics alone. I say this because if I was coaching I would attack CC with the double every time he got the ball and get him tired. Rhodes not going to rest him. And for the record I agree CC has been carrying the team and is talented (very).
