Did Dudley Hilton step into a good situation at Bourbon county in 1997?
Dont say yes because he won it. He stepped into a situation of being in the toughest 2a dist. in the entire state. He stepped into a situation of being at Bourbon county( not-so good program) and having to be in a dist. with Lex. catholic, Danville and Boyle county. So if your a coach, Tell me you know it's a good situation to be playing the teams i just mentioned, There's no way you would ! Some people on here try to make it look like Dudley knew he was gonna win it. NO WAY! What's your thoughts on Dudley Hilton and Bourbon co. winning it in 1997 and do you think Dudley knew it would be a good situation?

Dudley leaving Bell co. had nothing to do with the great situation over at Bourbon(not).
Trust me on this one, It was a totaly seperate issue, and Dudley is by far in the top 5 coaches in the state.

Vince--do you ever notice that you respond to your posts 3 or four times before anyone else does?
Think about it.
1. At the time--that district was NOT anywhere near as tough as you make it out to be. The only perennial contender was DANVILLE. The others had not won a state championship at that point (and had not done anything spectacular). If this happened in 2000-2004, I would agree with you. But to that point--YOU ARE WRONG.
2. I never said that Hilton wasn't a good coach. But top 5? Are you kidding me? If he was so great--he wouldn't have to water down the field when ever the big boys come to town. (Ah--that would actually speak to his FEAR of playing the great teams--which is an INSULT to the kids that play for him).
3. Ask ANYONE from Bourbon County--they will tell you the truth (but I doubt that anyone would want to talk to a person like you--who refuses to listen)--everyone in Paris KNEW that they had a good team coming up. It is THAT SIMPLE.

4. Keep in mind--they were a running team--it RAINED 4 straight weeks. With an above average team that plays Boyle/LexCath (who chuck the rock)--this turned out to be the best break that they could get. Most people would call this DUMB LUCK.
To a certain extent--I should know better. I know my football--yet I continue to argue with an uninformed homer who refuses to except the reality of the situation at hand. So, to a certain extent--I deserve having to put up with this in a way.
But I will close with this--I will take my rings anyday of the week and twice on Sunday when it comes to who knows their stuff. You homer-ish attitude in regard to the subject should have been enough for me to know better.

you ask us a question, then you tell us what answer to give? lol, c'mon man, are you a lawyer or something....Im not here to fire up the Dudley Hilton debate, but Hilton had like 19 or 20 starters coming back off of the previous team, if i remember correctly, and that team was fast, and it had great size. Boyle County hadnt started their dominance yet, (they didnt win their first championship in that string until 1999) and if i also remember correctly, i believe Lex Cath was a decent team, not a great team. Grant you, it was a fairly tough district at the time, but it was by no means a miracle. Ive seen much better coaching jobs than that, and if you want to go by record, and please dont bash me if im wrong, but didnt Yeagle win a couple of his 1000 state titles with 3 losses at Beechwood?

Do you know what hippocrit means Hillbilly?
First off, you answered your own post( exactly what you told me not to do)
Then you brought up the rain again( told me how absurd it was to bring up the weather)
and you talk about the big boys and dudley being afraid!!!! you make me laugh literally!
Ok son, it's apparent your from northern ky.( conner who?) and if i remember correctly, Highlands beat Bell ( barely 2 years ago) on a fumble in the red zone and did it with an inelligible player saving the game for them. Only a Triangle guy like you could say what you do. At least Dudley, don't do like the Big Boys AND PLAY INELLIGIBLE PLAYERS! Go get your buddies son, It's obvious you already have and please stop being a hippocrit as well. Oh AND PLEASE, Dont get Freak nasty on me, I'm trembling with fear from that. Get on 75 noth and go back to Ohio.

By the way Boyle co. was undefeated and lex.cath. knocked off Danville at Danville that same year, but i'm sure you and mr.Pittsburgh will have another excuse for this statement.Oh yes, and how many games did Borboun win the year before?
HMMMMMMMMM, What has Boyle , Danville, Lex. catholic done since?
Now, What has BOURBON done since? I rest my case, But ky.Hillbilly says Dudley Hilton a top 5 coach in the state , Are you Kidding me? WHAT A COMMENT ABOUT ONE OF THE BEST COACHES IN THE STATE!( and yes Dudley is a Top 5 coach).
Man you really are pro-northern ky. But i guess DUDLEY COULD HAVE NEVER BEAT A POWER HOUSE LIKE CONNER!(your old school) what a joke!

Vince--to answer your questions:
I know what a (I am taking a guess here--because I have no idea what you are typing) hypocrite is--and the beauty is--I know how to spell it.
Seriously--where did you learn to spell? It is a miracle that I can even make out this mess . . . . . .
The WEATHER made it EASIER for Bourbon County. Unless Dudley is God--which he will never be--he had nothing to do with making it rain. IT PLAYED TO HIS FAVOR . . . . .
What is your deal with Conner? I can't seem to see how they fit into this argument--but if you want to get technical, lets take a look back in time:
1993 Playoffs
3rd Round
CovCath 7
Conner 3
Semi Finals
CovCath 47
Bell Co. 9
That was the only "like" opponent I could find for an extended period of time . . . and lets not forget--CovCath beat Conner on a SLIP. Kind of funny how the vaulted genius Dudley Hilton couldn't find a way to hold the mighty CovCath beast under 47--when stinky Conner held them to 7. Gosh, it must have been luck . . . . .
What is all of this talk of triangles? With your spelling--I doubt that you passed geometry--so what are you getting at?
It seems like you have a little NKY bias. That would be your problem. You really need to come to grips with that jealousy issue. It definitely doesn't help your arguement . . .
HOSS--for the record--Beechwood started out 0-4 in 1993--and won its 3rd championship in a row. . . .
02-09-2006, 02:56 AM
i knew there was a year or two they won that their record wasnt nice and shiny, lol but the trophy at the end of the year was

I don't think that Dudley Hilton is as good as you say--so now I am "pro-northern ky." (at least your spelling was right).
Blah, blah, blah.
The funny thing is--most people (including me) would probably say that the best football in the state is played in Louisville . . . . .
You are boring me, Vince (keep in mind--a proper name should be capitalized).

Vince, I am in Eastern Kentucky, so don't classify all of us as Dudley's children! And you want to talk about lame, try watering down a field before a playoff game. Is Lame the right word??? No it isn't, Like I mentioned in another thread, I THINK IT IS FEAR!
02-09-2006, 01:10 PM
Dudley Hilton isnt a top five coach in EASTERN KENTUCKY, pal, i got news for you. Like the battle im in on another thread, ANYBODY WITH FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE could have won a championship with those Bell teams he had. The Bourbon County team was a fair coaching job, i will say, but it wasn't a miracle performed by the Holy Spirit. There are at least 50 coaches in this state right now, and possibly many more that could have won the state championship with that '97 Bourbon County team.

good post Playboy, and your right on. That's more than fear. Thats a man that knows he cant beat somebody the right way. Thats a man that knows HIS SUPERIOR coaching is INFERIOR than the man wearing the headset across the field from him. Thats a lame punk.

Well I agree with KHB and Tide. Dudley is no where near the top 5 coaches in EKY.
The only reason they went to the Finals that year was because Lawrence Co Coach had his head so far up his hind parts it isnt funny. I would almost bet that he and Lawrence had a little exchange, because how funny was it after Duddley beat us 2 years later our Coach was there.
There is no way that his team that year was any where near the talent and heart that Lawrence Co had. We had just beat and stopped the Bobcats streak, and the kids playing on that team that year was unreal for us. But they beat us on a wet field and it was like every play he knew were it was going and who was getting it. (now thats funny)
And for your information I love Kentucky football period, and it doesnt matter what part of the state they are from. So Vince before you go off and trash someone on here you need to remember who it is your trying to trash and have your proof to back up what you are saying!!!!!!

Hilton is a good coach no doubt, but you listed 5 coaches who were supposed to be the best in the state and never left the mountains. Come now. Look at the job Sam Harp has done at Danville, Yeagle at Beechwood, or Redman at Male. These coaches are just as good if not better than the ones you listed. Hilton is a good coach, but don't call him the best coach in the state when you can't back it up. He is one of the top coaches in the mountains and deserves our respect, but you are way to emotional about the subject. KHB, Tide, and Batpuff are right about this one. Hilton did a good job at Bourbon and still is at Bell, but it was not the situation you are making it out to be.

duddley is in the top 10 not the top 5. but man he is good.

I would have said but Batpuff beat me to it.
Seems everytime that LC played him no matter which school he was at the field always seemed to be pretty wet even during a drought.
