Interesting information.
I thought Cawood scored around 90 in the district finals in 2001.
I think Greg Coldiron was still coaching Cawood in 1996.

You are correct. Cawood, coached by Anthony Nolan, beat Evarts, coached by Rick Parsons, 99-69 in 2001. Thanks for the addition.

According to the records, Greg Coldiron coached Cawood through 1995. 1996 would have been Anthony Nolan's first year at Cawood.

A lot of the schools on that list do not exist anymore - as a high school anyway.

I actually went to Hall, but in elementary school. We never lost by 40. Won some by 40, though.

I think Nolan coached from the 1997 season through 2008 (12 years). Coldiron coached from the 1990 season through 1996 (seven years).
That 2001 Cawood team could put up a lot of points. Cawood won the district four of five years from 2001 through 2005. Cumberland won in 2003 and went on to win the region.

The only 2 overtime game I can find in the 52nd district records was in 1941 when Black Star defeated Benham 23-21 in the district finals. The most schools participating in the 52nd district was 12 high schools in 59, 60 and 61. All 12 high schools were in Harlan County.

I guess that was the time period when the black schools could compete before integration.
