If the KHSAA keeps the same format as in the last realignment and class 2a maintains 39 teams as before, here's how 2a would look for the next realignment based on current # of Boys only enrollment from the 2013-14 school year:
1) Beechwood - 190
2) Trimble Co -195
3) Ft Knox - 201
4) Cov Holy Cross - 205
5) Ballard Memorial - 208
6) NCC - 215
7) Middlesboro - 215
8) Newport - 220
9) Metcalfe Co - 223
10) Allen Central - 227
11) Murray - 227
12) OB Catholic - 228
13) Clinton Co - 230
14) LCA - 235
15) Mayfield - 241
16) Danville - 241
17) Hancock Co - 246
18) Gallatin Co - 247
19) W.Verona - 247
20) Green Co - 249
21) McLean Co - 251
22) Leslie Co - 252
23) Carroll Co - 252
24) Somerset - 253
25) Lloyd Mem - 267
26) Shelby Valley - 270
27) Owen Co - 277
28) Washington Co - 280
29) Monroe Co - 280
30) Todd Central - 284
31) Prestonsburg - 287
32) West Carter - 288
33) Shawnee - 292
34) Butler Co - 294
35) Edmonson Co - 296
36) Magoffin Co - 296
37) S.Clark - 299
38) Bath Co - 302
39) Webster Co - 304
Based on these numbers, 2a would lose Crittenden Co, Bishop Brossart and Betsy Layne to 1a and would lose Desales, CAL, Caldwell Co, Bardtown, Union Co and T.Nelson to 3a. They would add Mayfield, Beechwood and Allen Central from 1a and would add Webster Co, Bath Co, S.Clark, Magoffin Co, Edmonson Co, West Carter and Monroe Co from 3a.
IMO, 3a would all of a sudden, get much tougher with the additions of the 2 Louisville privates, Caldwell, Bardstown and Union Co and 2a would take a step back. They'd get a few nice additions in Mayfield, Beechwood and Monroe, but, those 3 alone wouldn't replace what they'd be losing.
An interesting note, Desales would come in with 309 male students and at #40, so, it would be possible, they could remain in 2a.

Seems like alot of teams end up in NKY or SEKY...looks like this class could make for alot more travels within each district.

KYHSFBFan, thanks for the time and effort you put into these. Things could really get shook up in 1A-3A. Interesting threads you have created. Thanks again.

I would love to see Mayfield, Beechwood, and Pikeville come up to 2A. Mayfield, Danville, LCA, NCC, Beechwood, Pikeville, Somerset, Ft. Knox, Middlesboro, Green County. Sounds like a who's who of the old 1A powers from the old class systems. And then you throw in teams like O'Cath, P'burg, Murray, Glasgow was left off your list, and then possibly even Desales, CAL and/or Caldwell. 2A would be the deepest class in the state.
