Who's on your top 15 most productive running backs of 2014
12-13-2013, 08:44 AM
Yikes... 15 is a lot....
Here are some guys who I think you have to put in the mix that I know of:
1. Damien Harris- Madison Southern... no list is accurate if he is not ranked #1
Brent Holman- Bourbon County.. huge year in 2013.. ig he recovers from leg injury I could see 2000 yards
Austin Hatfield- Belfry... the best FB in the state.
Quentin Baker- Ashland.. from a talent standpoint probably 2nd only to Harris
Daymion Belcher- Johnson Central.. expect a monster statistical season
Michael Nero- Manual
Cody Crider- Graves County
Tristen Luke- Ft. Campbell

^ Good list.
The only one I can think to add right now is Brandon Jones from Hazard, 2200 yards and 24 TDs this year, kid can really play.

Brandon Jones is a load. North/South with good balance and agility. Not a burner but his speed is adequate. Very tough kid.

Not to mention I think he is leaving out one of his own in Justin Johnson. If he got the carries of a feature back he would be over 2,000 yards this year.

Johnson graduates....

These are for 2014
I did accidentally leave off Jones... I thought he was a Senior..he definitely will be one of the Top 15 backs in the State

That explains it.
I was wondering why you left out Johnson. I do agree that Hatfield is the best FB in the state. I was impressed the first time I ever seen him carry the ball. He is a flat out beast at FB.

1. Damien Harris- Mad. Southern
2. Quentin Baker- Ashland
3. Brent Holman- Bourbon County
4. Daymion Belcher- Johnson Central
5. Tristen Luke- Ft. Campbell

Arien Beasley from North Oldham is a very good running back.
12-14-2013, 03:22 AM
Jaylen Boyd-Caldwell County-Class of '15- 4 year starter over 7.000 yards
Torched Mayfield for 240 yards 3 TDs this year

Logan Holbrook - Spencer Co.
Ran for 600 yards as a freshman and over 1,000 as a sophomore. He will be the focal point of the Bears rushing attack. 2-way starter and an overall excellent football player.

Nick Lonley from Russell. Ran for over 1000 yards as a freshman behind a very average line. He has decent speed but mostly a north and south runner he'll lay a lick on you, tough as nails.

look out for Zack Mills next season.

You might get familiar with a little fella by the name of Trajon Bright. Ask Williamsburg Caldwell and others.

over 7000 yards you are dreaming he has a shade under 4300 even if you are trying to guess what he will have after next year he would need over 2700 yards this year thats alittle far fetched

Devin Taylor West Jessamine 11 282 2664 29 242
Damien Harris Madison Southern 11 200 2470 39 225
Trevor Carnell Bullitt Central 11 234 2096 21 191
Brandon Jones Hazard 11 147 2010 23 183
Kody Thornsberry Morgan County 11 267 1966 26 179
Cody Crider Graves County 13 238 2085 26 160
Michael Nero DuPont Manual 12 258 1832 20 153
Gabe Blair North Laurel 11 243 1670 21 152
Jonathon Scruggs Holmes 10 199 1493 15 149
Brent Holman Bourbon County 13 142 1919 34 148
Jordan Troutman McCracken County 12 199 1763 18 147
Ben Rodgers Knott County Central 10 190 1471 14 147
Quentin Baker Ashland Blazer 11 185 1607 17 146
Charlie Trapp Allen County 10 178 1388 19 139
Jalen Beal Holy Cross (Cov) 10 185 1354 15 135
All the stats haven't been recorded yet for some reason or another, but this is pretty much where the running backs stand at this point and will probably stay.
Its hard to think Scott County wont have at least one good RB with a lot of yards.
Also, any list without Harris as the number one is just dead wrong. he's not the best RB in the state, he's the best RB in the nation.
From far SEKY, I would put as followed (In no particular order)...
Ryan Pittman- Mboro (Stout back for Mboro, over 1300 yards)
Austin Caldwell- Bell County (Bell didn't have a 1000 yard rusher last season)
Jake Coppock- Corbin (Hard to bring down)
Matthew Barger- Knox Central (Assuming he goes to RB instead of QB)
Sam Carr- Clay County (Over 1400 yards last year. May be the best back in the area. Real speedy kid)
Fred Massey- Harlan County (Over 1100 yards last year, will be the make or break guy for HC this year IMO. Big shoes to fill. He will take on a load.)
Zach Mills- Whitley County (Riddled with injuries all year, but may be the fastest back to come threw this area in a long time. With the right coaching hire, and a healthy season, Mills could break some school records)
Im sure im leaving out a few, but that's where we stand IMO this far down in the state.

Like a lot of things at Highlands next year, RB will be something new. Kendle will be a jr who saw a little time late in games as a soph. He is small but very fast and explosive. He had some highlight runs this year and I think if he can keep from getting beat up could be very good. Dougherty , another jr to be, is a big back (also starting kicker) who would be able to pound the ball.

Call me a homer...but honestly think Fred Massey (Harlan Co) cracks the top 15 next year.
12-16-2013, 02:13 AM
Just what I was thinking.
He shared carries with another 1,000-yard rusher last season.

Long time, no comments HDE, but Fred Massey will bring me out of hibernation. Known him since he was a pup. He will be my favorite player next year, and I'm hoping for good health and Top 10 yardage.
