Lex Cath coach moving on?
#1
It my breaks my heart to even consider it. It could cause major problems if he is replaced by the wrong coach. But its too early to begin to discuss this. He will be missed as a coach and a mentor.
#2
Resign? Fired? What's the deal here?
#3
This is out of left field.
#4
called meeting with team and resigned
#5
Resigned as a coach and also as a counselor? So totally out of school? Anybody know more?

Oh man... Coach Letton is first class !! Great teacher of football fundamentals and was missed when he left P-burg.

If more info becomes available, please post. :thanks:

Bill Letton is a class act. If he resigned, there has to be a solid reason. I wish him the best whatever he does, and, yes, his son is either a Sophmore or Junior this year.

Bill has been solid at each school he has coached. Perhaps this is simply a teacher retirement issue. He probably needs 8 or 10 years still to get teacher retirement. He cannot get that at Lex Cath. If this is the case, someone will be getting a fine person and coach soon.

Ryle should try and get him

I had never thought about the retirement issue, but that makes perfect sense.

Whoever takes over, will inherit a great team and a bunch of great returning players. That is if the coach is the right fit and will not turn the program inside out. Good luck Knights in 2014 and God bless you Coach Letton.

Coach Letton is well respected all across the state. Wherever he turns up, someone is getting a heck of a person and pretty good coach!

Wow!! I hate to hear this. Bill coached a kid of mine when he was a D cord at Cath. I would of thought he would stay at least for his sons senior year in 14. I wonder if this is a job that will be easy to fill with a established guy. Seems like the retirement is an issue with the coaches that have been around a while. I also think this private public agreement will hurt Cath. I think you are seeing it in the other sports already. Good luck to Coach Letton and the nights.

Hope that the new coach will really considerate the private/ public school agreement and will banned the contract. I think Lex Cath will be just fine not playing any Fayette County public schools.

Any word? Any name going around? Any rumors on who will be the head man?
#18
I'm reading this on the other forum about a coach name Mark Perry? Not sure who he is or background. If fact one mentioned it's a done deal... HUH? Those dudes over in the other forum are focus on this particular coach as being Lex Cath ne hire.

The Central Hardin website announced the resignation of Mark Perry this morning. did not say where he is going.

You don't understand. Perry is the new coach at Catholic. I'm talking about the Fayette county feeder contract. The football coach has no say in that.

OK bro! So obviously you know more than we do. We were just asking about it. So when is Lex Cath going to announce? If you know so much:rockon: Oh by the way, what does the public/ private contract has to do with what we/ I asked earlier? Plus regardless of that contract, Lex Cath has beaten Lafayette 4 times and Station last season. I do'n get it.

Don't worry about it bro. I'll wait and see for myself. Thanks I get what your saying now.

Has Letton landed anywhere? Has anyone heard of where he applied?
#27
Have not heard. But wherever he ends up they will get a heck of a coach. With his resume he should have his pick. Good luck to Bill and Lori. Thanks for all you have done.

How about their kid Sam? Is he staying at Lex Cath? He has 2 more season left.
#29
I don't have any Idea but I sure hope not. I hope he gets lost and ends up around Reed Ln. Ha Ha. Actually I hope he gets the opportunity to stay at LC. Graduate with his buddies that he grew up with. Sam is a good boy and a heck of a ball player.
That 2016 class city wide are all really close. There has really been a interesting dynamic in Lexington Football the last few years. These kids get together from different schools and work out together and hang out. They all know each other. Not so much the LC kids with the exception of Sam (he is always around). The public school kids really like each other and its special to watch.

Reed Lane, like Lafayette? Wishful thinking bro, I doubt that will happen. The best case scenario is that Letton gets a local college assistant job ie. Georgetown or Centre, works and coach on Saturday and watch Sam on Friday night. And will all do respect to the Lafayette program, Sam will not have anyone throw it to him. They have an atheltic QB and one who was hurt and according to my neighboring kids, the athletic QB will get the nod next season. So a lot more running than passing.
