This first half reminds me of the Boyle County blitz out on Rockastle in the AAA Title Game in '01. Big plays and it was over.

I am surprised that there is not a running clock yet. I know of another team that would have gone for 2 on one of the last two TDS for Mayfield to make it a running clock.

Mayfield is simply a far superior team. Only rushing 3 and getting tremendous pressure on the QB. Williamsburg is simply outmatched. Mayfield's speed is killing them all over the field.

Looks good on them

Mayfield literally could score anytime they wanted to if they spread the field and used their speed... classy move by their staff to let off the gas while still playing their starters so Wburg can at least enjoy the moment and playing the game.

How much can you enjoy a 35-0 1st quarter game? I think they would be happy with a running clock to get the game over.

It's a perception thing. At 35-0 and Mayfield hasn't scored in quite a while, Burg can feel like they have got a chance to make a run, they can feel like they have made the defensive adjustments and they can enjoy the schools first ever appearance. That running clock starts and it's like a nail in the coffin.

For a school who has never been to a State Finals I would think having to play Williamsburg starters into the 2nd Half feels a heckuva lot better than having a running clock and playing against their JV in the 2nd Quarter

I am sure they do, all they have to do is look at the speed and athleticism... but it is still night and day from "Having their starters pulled before Halftime" and the perception of at least competing... especially when 1 TD was off a blocked punt. Much different story as the Coach tries to build next season saying it should have been 28-0 at the Half as opposed to losing 42-0 and seeing the Mayfield Freshman in the game.

Just way, way too much difference in talent, speed, depth, size, etc, etc, etc.. Mayfield looks really, really strong, especially in the trenches. The best shot for a score with a 1st and goal at the 5, they end up turning it over on downs and going backwards 10 yds. That's gotta be a back breaker and then an 85 yrd drive right after was the explanation point. Complete domination.
