A pure joke in my opinion. That is why they play the game.

Just a few notes from final ratings. Bourbon County is 112.9 vs Belfry 105.4. Wayne 106.5 vs PT 105.4. Boyle County is 105.9 vs Mercer County 89.6. Johnson Central is 118.9 vs Cov Cath 114.6. Raceland 88.3 vs Williamsburg 92.4. Compare those ratings to actual scores.

Same thing I was trying to get through 55's head on the Mayfield vs Williamsburg thread.

The ratings are not based upon scores. If your team is 10 points better in Lit ratings that does not mean your team is 10 game points better. That does however indicate that your team should be favored by a touchdown or more. Last week the ratings were 75% correct, which is very low for this time of year. But they were wrong on at leat one of those games that I recall there was less than 1 point difference in rating.
#7
Oh I forgot to mention the game that was only less than 1 point difference in Lit rating, the home team won. Another words the 2 teams were pretty much even but 1 had the benefit of homefield.

I stopped believing in Litkenhouse years ago when I was playing.

We were 9-1 one season but had a rating UNDER four opponents we had defeated on the field.

I recall the year Danville was undefeated in '84 and Cov Cath was rated higher. A 28-0 win later and Danville moved on to later claim the State Title.

Lit has it's value but it's far from infallible or even consistent IMO.

If you look at all the games, it is very reliable. How many of us picked 75% in the pickem. That would have us in 1st place. There will be misses but it's usually the teams that are within 10 lit points of the team they upset.
#10
1 point difference in ratings and 27 points difference on the field. That is close.

CalPreps.com picks the same winners.

Last week Cal preps was correct in 75% of their predictions.

In the Regional finals, CalPreps was correct in 83.3% of their predictions.
#13
It dont matter who predicts what.... Mayfield will defeat Williamsburg
#14
You do realize being right 75% of the time also means you are wrong 25% of the time
#15
I will take those odds over the coin flip type guess work your side is offering.
#16
Picking a winner 75% of the time is not tough. Pick against the spread 75% of the time and you have something. Coin toss will be right 50% of the time. Calpreps picking Mayfield over Fulton County is not magic.
#17
If you wanna follow us back to Mayfield E, you can come in and take your picture with the gold trophy.

predictions don't win games

Predictions make it fun for us armchair quarterbacks and wanna be football coaches. Nothing more, nothing less.
#24
I guess we shouldn't make preditions now. Isn't that what this thread is categorized as?
#25
they should just pass the trophies out and not even play the gamesSmile

I wish it was Friday already.

These are so off it is almost hysterical

Bourbon County still ranked #1 in 3A by a fairly large clip ahead of the team who doubled them up in yardage and defeated them on their home-field

Wayne County and Tilghman would still be considered a toss-up game after Wayne obliterated the Blue Tornado

Caldwell would still be a considerable favorite over Murray

Beechwood ahead of Frankfort

Johnson Central ahead of CovCath who beat them easily
#29
I bet they are right on about 4 or 5 of the picks for this week.

I bet 75% of this site can pick 4 or 5 of this weekend's winners though
