DeSales @ Murray 11-29-13
#1
Who you got in this one. I would love to see Murray move on, but they have a tendancy to choke at this level. I will take DeSales in a close one.

Dude... !!

If the Tigers lose, it's not a "choke" at semi-state level and especially not since they'll be the underdog !!!

Confusedhh:

It is when they have had the better team twice and lost. If you saw the teams you would know.
#4
Murray has a very tough quarterback and good offensive line, but don't throw the ball well enough to beat Desales, Murray played their best game against Caldwell county, I doubt if they can have a repeat performance of that game.
#5
I've been picking DeSales since about the second week to come out of the west. I'm not changing now. DeSales by 7.
#6
I really didn't see this game coming. I always thought we would be there, but I expected to be playing Caldwell Co. Quite honestly I've been so looking forward to the re-match with Caldwell, that I honestly don't know a whole lot about Murray except what I can get here that they like to pound the ball. How much farther is Murray than Princeton anyway? How big is their stadium? We'll have a lot of fans coming down. The Colts are on a mission, I think this will be a tough one, but I like our chances. We like to pound it too, but we can also throw it around. Our boys remember what it felt like last year losing to Caldwell. I think they'll be ready.

The field is right behind the middle school. Nice playing field, but, the stands leave a lot to be desired, especially on the visitors side. Very old stadium, like 1940s-50s old and parking isn't great, so, better get there early. No track around the field so the stands are right on top of the field. One problem is very shallow sidelines. Easy to get knocked out of bounds and put into a brick wall.
#8
extra points hit the brick wall that used to be old Murray High school a very good home field advantage u are right on top of the field.
#9
Stadium is in the back lot of the high school on the corner of a city block.. there is plenty of room for the kids running around.. stadium might hold 2000 ppl tops in seats.. visitors side will have six or so sets of pull out bleeachers that will hold around 50 ppl each.. bring chairs. Although the ground is flat and doubles as a baseball field you really wont be able to get very high to see over the team on the sideline unless u gettget there early to get top row on the bleachers.. murray is about fifty min on the other side of Princeton.. plenty of places to eat for it is a pretty nice town... once again get there early if u like to watch football.. EARLY.....! Like hour and half to two hours early... or youll be standing on tippy toes to see.. sucks fyi..
Murray is big up front very solid d very solid.. they seem to be a 1st -3rd qt team.. petter out twards the fourth.. but it is the elite eight.. they might be strong all the way through.. they are quick and shifty and have a good power game as well.. qb is not a alstar but can run the ball and throw wen needed.. quick is the key.. better have a fast d... are d is among the fastest in the state and murray gave us fits.. like 18-0 in a matter of min. Their d is very solid and held off one of the best qb's in the state last week... they also shut down one of the fastest rb iv seen in years in jaylon boyd.. boy has to run close to a 4.3 40yd... I knoe that sound crazy I didnt believe it either till I saw it.. but murray shut him down too.. so good luck.. go tigers..!

I'm taking Murray 21-20 in a close one. Should be a great atmosphere!

Thx for the info guys. Teams having practice today, and we'll find out our travel schedule. I think they are looking at traveling Thursday evening, so they have friday to relax. I'm not liking what I hear about Murray's field. DeSales travels really well. I know we'll have people driving on their own, we'll also have a couple of coach buses. Not sure where we'll all fit. I think we match up real well with Murray from how it is sounding. Warren Central was a fast bunch, and we had no problems. I like our defense. I think it was tops in 2A from what I read we only allow 10pts a game on average. I think the game sets up well for the fans. Two big physical teams, that like to play smash mouth football. Turnovers will most likely be the key. Honestly when you get this far it can go either way. Both teams know they are close to the prize, so they'll leave it all on the field.
#12
I think Desales wins. Although Murray must be a good team, Caldwell's defense was not very good. If you look at their box scores teams scored a lot on Caldwell meaning they were better at outscoring everyone. They finally had an off night and Murray's defense shut them down. Desales wins by 14.
#13
Really wanna watch this one.. ugh. But I have to stay at home to watch mayfield.. should be a tight game.. the field has plenty of walking around room .. just seating is at a mininum.. to bad they dont move this game to murray state university.. murray was a 14pt better team than the graves county team that beat warren.. so this game really lines out to be one of the better games of the night
#14
Hope Murray can pull out a close game....admire coach Duncan and all he has done there.
#15
Murray!
#16
The field is worse than has been described here. Especially when you round second base headed towards third.

I am pulling for Murray since they are a western ky team, but you guys beat Warren Central that handily, that doesn't bode well for Murray.

Yeah, I agree with myson, the field is awful for a football game, but its a huge advantage for the Tigers each year and they know it.

Get ready, to visit the worst stadium in Western Ky. The reason it is behinde a middle school is because it should be a middle school stadium. It's tiny and good luck finding a place to park.

The more i'm hearing about their field, the more i'm not liking it. I'm all for the rotating of the Semi's, but... This brings the question on what if the team that makes it like (Murray) this year. What if their stadium isn't suitable? We expected Caldwell to bring quite a few fans last year, so we chose to host at Fairdale. Nicer stadium and more fan friendly than either Iroquois, or Southern where we usually play. We are going to bring in huge numbers Friday. The kids don't care. they see a football field, and they'll get to work, but the stadium should be nice enough to accommodate the fans that want to be there. IMO.
#20
That is the benefit of being in the west and winning your region. In even numbered years it would be the benefit of being in the east. Personally, I think it should be the choice of the highest seed.

I don't have a problem with the rotation, the way it is. My concern again is what if the team's stadium is not suitable for a game of this magnitude?

Murray is, has been and always will be talented; this year is no exception, but DeSales isn't short on talent either...not by any means.

Like you, I'd love to see Murray win, too.

In this day of you have to be spread or it's not "cool'', I'm just glad to see two schools (two of several still left this year) who are running and winning w/ old school approaches. Murray lives in the Wishbone, and will break it along with getting in the I & DeSales is pure Delaware Wing-T at it's finest (they too will get in the I some).

Its not suitable at all, you won't have anywhere to sit, they may be able to sit 200 fans on the visitors side?? They should play their playoff games at MSU but again, that would help opposing teams.

It will be a GREAT atmosphere. Big games at Murray High are one of the better places to watch a game IMO.

Kind of Highlands like to be honest with parts of the field being right behind the field (North Endzone).

If Murray admin had any sense they would move this game to Murray State. There would probably be 5000-7000 in attendance and there would be a comfortable place for all to watch. Instead they are going to cram 4000 people in a crackerjack stadium and, trust me, it's gonna be a nightmare. There are gonna be 1000 people encircling the field about 1 or 2 yds off the playing surface. It could get ugly.

The wing t approach plays right into Murray's advantage. They are well versed on that offense. They have an old school head coach and they have to face Graves Co every year here lately. I think that is a positive for Murray. I didn't think they would have a shot but that makes it possible.
#28
What kills me about Murray is just what you said. They have all that talent and don't go to state very often at all. They always have very big and athletic linemen. They always have 3 or 4 backs that are a blaze and one or 2 receivers that are tall and fast. They always have a good qb and a great kicker. I just don't understand how you can have all that, year in and year out and not achieve more.

We don't exclusively run the wing T. We have multiple looks.
#30
That they do.

Questiom though, do those different looks come with different schematics or are those other looks just smoke and mirrors? As Im sure you know, many Wing T principles can and are ran out of many formations and window dressings...from 5 wide, to the I to one back and even the wishbone.

Unless the big guys upfront are executing zone styles and/or man styles, here is betting they are running those same gap schemes that make the wing what it is (with misdirection as the other key component of course).
